released a new version of Dustland Fairytale today featuring Bruce Springsteen. One of my favorite songs sung by two of my favorite artists. Dustland - ( New Window )
like almost anything Machine Gun Kelly since he made his transformation to pop/punk and started working with Travis Barker (and many others). link - ( New Window )
Recently discovered him via a recommendation. For those who are not familiar, it's bluegrass metal. Fantastically talented kid. I'll link two links below, first a cover... Summertime - Billy Strings & Marcus King - ( New Window )
On Neil Young kick so a lot of 'Old Man', 'Harvest', 'Heart of Gold', 'Sugar Mountain', 'Harvest Moon', 'Southern Man', etc. I usually dive into his catalog once a year for a solid few weeks, much like I do with Dylan, Springsteen, & Petty.

I liked Day & Age but man it couldn't compete with the Killers first two CDs.
That's probably every band (old stuff is better) but Day & Age is still a lot better than battle born and wonderful wonderful. I didn't even know they had a more recent "album" until the other day. I'll give it a listen I guess. Who knows? I don't get why artists even put out albums anymore. Just throw out like 29 different songs and go with what sticks.
I can't believe this show was 30 years ago today. I was there and remember it all as if it were just yesterday. This was my second Dead show, and the one where I "got it."
Fortunately, it's now available as an official release. :)
I loved this song when I lived in Hawaii. 1999 when I was living there it was great having access to West Coast music on the local airwaves that stations didn't play on the east coast. Used to send all the latest West Coast Rap Music to my buddies back east.
Also
Bloodshot Bill- Take Me for a Ride
Melenas- 3 Segundos
Parquet Courts- Total Football
And giving into my pop side…Caroline Polachek- So Hot You’re Hurting My Feelings

Ha, yeah I never liked the Dead. Then around this time the cover band I was in started adding some dead tunes. I rolled my eyes, and I remember thinking "Ugh why are we playing such simple boring shit?"
And then I had to sit down and actually listen to it and figure out how to play it. And then that's when I got it... lol. Such an great band with swing and groove, and I don't think people give enough credit to how well Weir and Garcia complemented each other on guitar. A lot of great counterpoint. Just listen to a tune like Scarlet Bogonias.

You should check out Kenny Hoopla. He is doing the pop/punk thing and I would say better than MGK. Also has Barker on the drums. Kenny Hoopla - ( New Window )

Great call, I like Kenny Hoopla too, just happened to be listening to MGK because he was on a special guest on a Barstool pizza review in Cleveland for some reason.

Man, where does the time go? I was there too. Also at the Dylan and The Dead shows in 87. At the 87 shows we jumped down from the seats onto the field, remember how high those walls were? Looked easier than it turned out to be! I got such a thrill from being on the actual field of the Giants! Probably more impressed by that than being in the audience for Dylan and the Dead. Funny enough, I was going up to Maine a couple of weeks ago and listen to some Hartford, Ct shows all the way up and back. I still love the Dead and still really miss Jerry.

No reason why. The song was next on a playlist on YouTube music I am listening to right now and I had no reason to change it to anything else.
