deGrominator going tonight! We will all hold our breath. No restrictions per Rojas. Conforto starts rehab assignment tonight. Carrasco has resumed throwing. McNeil and Almora could be activated any day now. Mets keep rolling. LFGM!
Usual suspects with Nido in for McCannon (who should be rechristened’Mechanic’ for all the time he spends fooling around with his junk before an AB!)
It’d be pretty damn deep. Think we will really need Thor this year tho. Just such a big innings jump for everyone especially Walker. Ideal season to put the hammer down early and use a six man rotation in the dog days.
Early runaways in their division are going to be better positioned this year. I’m gonna take a vacation in a couple of weeks and I’m going to look at SP usage in 95 after the strike, see how teams handled it. Just for a fun project.
That said, I sure as hell would like Syndergaard back for the postseason also!
I do not think Almora is a given to be recalled onto the major league roster. If you are saying he is a given to recover soon, fine.
Masks asked to be worn for non vaccinated people, but Mets will not check or enforce.

But out of the question mark guys just give me back Nimmo and Carrasco at some point and this team will be unstoppable.

He is. Mason Williams is not better than Almora. Almora is two years younger and had a sustained run of decent offense 2016-2018 coupled with elite CF defense. I see almost no reason why Williams would be kept at Almora's expense. That said, if we ever get the full OF back including Nimmo, I do see Almora being demoted to AAA to keep McKinney. But we are a long way from that. Almora should be back for Williams any day now.

does williams have an option remaining?
McKinney, Pillar, Davis, LG, and Nido
With Almora, Drury, Maybin, Mazeika etc in AAA as depth.
I think we will be setup just fine.

If I'm following your thinking, you have Villar as starting 3B and McNeil as starting 2B, with Smith, Nimmo and Conforto starting in the OF. Is that correct?
I could see this arrangement:
Catchers: McCann, Nido
Infielders: Alonso, McNeil, Villar, Lindor, Davis, Guillorme
Outfielders: Smith, Nimmo, Conforto, McKinney, Pillar
That's a helluva roster if everyone's healthy.
Really tough for anybody to answer this question without knowing what happens from here on out. If he retired tomorrow then no he likely doesn't make it. If he wins another CY this season and has a normal decline then he's likely in, if he has 3-4 more seasons of "ace" level pitching he's in. His trajectory is HOF. Unlike say Trout, he's not a HOF without more data.

But he's also not that good and unlikely to get claimed. But Drury has an option. Almora does too. Eventually if the Mets are healthy the bench should be
McKinney, Pillar, Davis, LG, and Nido

Yes assuming everyone's healthy which might never happen. lol. We'll see!
Yeah agreed. If Villar keep's up his line (wRC+ 115-ish) he's not going to lose his starting spot.
Dangerous inning.
Basically the few games with a DH, the occasional start at 3B against lefties, and PH
Yes. Don’t even know who he is. Thought he was taco sauce.
deGrom probably won’t make it past 6 with the pitch count, as they’ve been keeping him low there
Absolutely hilarious.
What happened? Was getting the 3 year old to bed and missed it

Its the same shit Im guessing. He was trying to stretch out his arm in the middle of the inning. He clearly was feeling something in there again. He took himself out.
Call up Big Sexy from Mexico
Heartbreaking
Rotator cuff would be season ending and probably never same pitcher again .
Praying 🙏
My guess is its sore because he's been overcompensating for the other issues.
Either way, he needs to get shut down for 2 weeks and heal.
And its coming at the worst time possible.
I have yo believe if it's a capsule tear there's no way he finishes the inning, and certainly not with 100 mph heat, right?
I'm going to stay positive. The only thing I'm bummed about is that he had 8 ks through 3 perfect innings, and you always think that something special could happen anytime deGrom is on the mound, and to have that start in this game, tonight could've been the night.
Very possible he could've chased 20 Ks tonight. Would've only needed to strikeout 12 of 18 of the remaining batters, which for deGrom is child's play.
Its going to be sad if deGrom is robbed of something that could have been truly special.

For the absolute best but shoulder is also potentially the worst

Agreed. He was dealing. I’m gonna think he’s been overcompensating for one strain or another. Just shut him down and deal with it. Bats just need to be really alive now and we can weather this.

My thoughts as well. Cautiously optimistic since he finished the inning strong. Shut him down for a couple weeks. Sign a Porcello or Bartolo in the meantime.
and have him and all his equipment with me at all times.
He is in the midst of one of the all time greatest seasons a pitcher has ever had - even now that might be in jeopardy - let alone the Mets playoff chances reduce without him.
if he's so fragile - and they knew going in to the game he had a lingering issue - he might not be getting the best medical advice.
IOW - is the same guy who told Nimmo his ligament tear was nerve damage also the guy telling deGrom he's fine to make his next start (tonight)?
because I don't trust that guy.
Maybe they should get a diagnosis first?

No, that's his symptom. They still have to do an MRI to do a proper diagnosis, which will likely happen tomorrow.
I honestly dont like pushing him. I'd go to Gsellman for the last two. Or even use Smith for one of them.
We got this one.
Good call. Hope he’s making strides.
Anyone hear how his stuff was when it was on?
Yeah his in game decisions seem to be getting better. Loved that move too.
He doesn’t pitch regularly as the last man out of the bullpen so he will have nights where it just isn’t working.
Loving the speed and defense
It was a nice move. Well, 10 games up, a 5-1 start to a home stand against winning teams and everyone feels crappy. Hope for good new on DeGrom!
Yup. Heal up those nagging issues. I dont care if his MRI is 100% clean. Shut him down.
So it is unlikely to be a tear. I guess it could be a sign that a rotator cuff is imminent but almost certainly no serious structural damage yet
Degrom also said he was confident it was nothing serious
without question
