starts today and ends, as always, on Father's Day. Koepka, Morikawa, Thomas going off around 7:30. Jordan, Rory, Rose, Dustin, and DeChambeau not until after 1PM. Jordan has been coming on, but has a little ankle tweak. Course is playing long and I hear the rough is a bitch.
I think Morikawa has a good week. Usual suspects will be there. I'd pick Koepka, but the knee is still injured. Thomas has not been sharp lately, but is probably the best wedge player on tour.
Deep rough favors the stronger players. We shall see.

Not til moving day :) MB and spag today
I agree. My brother played it a couple years ago. Lots of holes are basically the same. Long and straight.
Think you are under estimating how hard it is playing.

Hopefully the wind kicks up tomorrow or they have more difficult hole locations. The US Open is supposed to be the most challenging major

I think it's a fair test though. Usually you don't see 14 players under par at a US Open though. They didn't make it unfair, which is nice. I think Winged Foot in Mamaroneck is a better course though, which is where it was last year. Only DeChambeau finished under par at -6 which is an amazing achievement there

Yeah just played Winged Foot in May from 6500. Rough was still brutal, but the greens were crazy fast and hard to read. Think I shot an 88 and could not make a putt. Scary how tough the slops are.

I'm interested to see how Royal St. George's plays at the British next month. That course is fantastic as well and a difficult test of golf
I'm not a maven, but I've been watching golf for a long time. In a big tournament like this, the edge always have to go to the guys who have been there/done that. In this case, the most familiar names, going up to probably Koepka in 13th place at even par. And you can't totally rule out Rory, DJ or maybe even Mick who are just a little bit further off. Just noticed that Spieth made the cut at +4, with a group of 14 tied for 58th. So there will be 71 players tomorrow instead of 60. I think the +3, +4 guys are too far off, but they will play earlier, when the greens are softer and slower, so you might see a good score from one of them.
Rahm, Schauffele and Oosthuizen would be guys my to watch with Watson as a dark horse. Unless Koepka goes crazy today, I think there are too many big names ahead of him especially when many are very good golfers.
That little cluster group just behind the leaders has some serious talent (and major wins) in Oosthuizen, Rahm, Watson, Schauffele. I wouldn't be surprised if one or two of these names are our leaders going into Sunday.
No problem. just confirms we can guess together with like minds!
Bland and Henley hanging in as the big boys starting to catch up.
Rahm winning would be awesome
Bill, I think the winner will come from -2 and above. Too many people for those at -1 to overcome. If I had to pick one, Oosthuizen is the one. I do not trust Rory's putting.
Henley may hang in, IDK. Hughes had a better day than both, though.
Yeah, gun to head Oostie would be my pick with DeChambeau close behind.
