What constitutes the charge of a concealed weapon?
Can you be charged with having a concealed weapon if the weapon is licensed?
What exactly was Sam Beal charged with? Did he have an unlicensed weapon or a licensed weapon that was in the glove compartment or trunk of his car?
Was he able to leave Ohio to play with the Giants last year and for OTA this year or was his absence related to the need to resolve pending charges.
Whatever happened to Charles Way? Loved him as a fullback. He had a program for counselling players. The giants need to work with all of their players to counsel them to avoid people and situations such that they feel the need to carry a weapon or are part of a group that has weapons.
I do think that for the most part it should be the courts not the employer that punishes a person for illegal behavior and the giants should have kept Baker until his charges were resolved and Beal should be given a fair chance to make the team based on his ability or lack thereof.
Not sure if improperly carrying in a vehicle is a concealed carry violation. Each state requires a hand gun to be stored in a specific manner, i,e, such as it must be carried so that it takes 3 steps to retrieve the weapon - reach for storage location, open the location, reach into the location and pick up the weapon.
He may be licensed in Tenn, but he violated Ohio's requirements. Most Southern and Midwest states respect/accept each others permits to carry, but the person must comply with that state's specific requirements while in that state.
Was coming here to say exactly this.
Some states say if the gun is on your back seat it's not concealed. Others disagree. Etc...
Beal was charged with carrying a concealed weapon and improperly handling a firearm in a vehicle. I assume he a loaded gun in his vehicle.
He broke the law, however this is not usually a big deal and there is zero chance of jail time, unless he has a criminal record
The Giants loaded up on CB the last two years in both free agency and the draft. There is a #s issue at the position already and yet he's likely to face a suspension. Why would the Giants save a roster spot for him at this point?
Or an unfortunate run of injuries at the position.
Not something we like to think about, but this happens regularly at CB in this league.
As has been noted, each state has their own laws.
