This guy has drama queen head case written all over him. How do these professional athletes let random people on twitter get under their skin!? And tweeting about it clearly shows he does kare when people come and komment to him about it…

It seems like Toney is fine though. It’s people here that have a problem and that’s their problem not his. Plenty of celebrities control themselves on social media.

He was also just a kid playing football until 3 months ago. Until he’s recklessly using social media I don’t know why he should just delete everything.

These old guys forget that he's only 21 years old, doesn't understand that he shouldn't stoop to the level of people taking him down. Just don't respond.
He can be passionate about his music...

And still be all-in when it comes to playing football. I don't see why they have to be mutually exclusive. I'll bet a lot of professional athletes have other interests they're passionate about.

I also don't see the need to create controversies where they don't exist.

He was a QB who went through the Manning circles in high school and recruited to play QB in the SEC. He’s not a guy who’s going to struggle to learn a playbook. His football smarts have the endorsements.

Quote:
“He knows how to look at a defense. He knows how to asset coverage. He knows how to understand when a defense is about to blitz, which might affect routes or timing and all these things,” Morris said.
“So yeah, I think given his quarterback background, he brings a little bit more of a general understanding about football than other positions.”

I think the last thing anyone is worried about is his football IQ.

Except there’s no evidence that applies to Toney.

David Morris, part of the cerebral quarterback fraternity, who’s worked with him since he was a high schooler, seems to think his football IQ is pretty strong and an asset.

What evidence is there that Toney is a dumbass?

I don't know about his football IQ but the thing that stands out to me in the highlights is how well he plays off of defenders' movements. Putting people off balance and knowing when to make a move based on defender balance. It is just a natural gift for some and he seems to have it.

I always thought it was what made Tiki so special as well, his ability to make subtle movements to make defenders commit or to set up blocks downfield.

Not surprising to see an overreaction to an overanalyzed tweet. Declaring that this signals that he is on his way to becoming a bust is just absurd.

I know it's a very boring time of the year football wise because there is very little happening but let's not overreact to a kid's tweet.

I just hope that Toney and the rest of the team spend less time on social media because there are far too many miserable people out there looking to attack others in an attempt to make others as miserable as them.

So your basing his character off of a tweet? And a tweet where outside of spelling things weird, he didn’t actually say anything bad?

He’s different, that’s about all I can glean from the tweet. I’ll defer to Judge on his character and work ethic since I’ve never interacted with Toney to know for myself.

I understand the sentiment, and honestly I don't disagree with the take. But the reality is just that we now have a generation of people who have lived their entire lives with social media being completely ingrained in to their world. For a lot of younger people, posting on Twitter or Instagram comes as natural as speaking.

Even as grown adults, we all say and think ridiculously stupid things on occasion, without ever being aware of just how stupid they are. Unfortunately for this generation those things are now permanently documented somewhere online and easily accessible by the public.

It's sound advice to tell a young person to stay away from social media, even if they don't have aspirations of achieving any kind of fame - but again, it's so ingrained in the culture that it would be almost impossible to convince many people to make that choice.

The willingness of otherwise mature-minded people to still say dumb things on social media is a longer discussion for another day.

Vastly different situation. Toney by all accounts is very smart.

The better cautionary tale is probably Beckham. If Toney has the type of success we all hope he does, will he be able to control himself with the media and critics, and not get himself into the types of traps that sour the football people around him.

So we should trust some random old dude that’s sitting on his sofa on a message boards “feeling” on a player that is the polar opposite culture wise of said old man and we should take his advice to “express doubt” in Judge before on the draft pick that not only hasn’t played a single game yet, but hasn’t even approached training camp?

This is example 10000000 on why Giants fans absolutely suck. Toney is already enemy number 1. In June. Right. If his passion was curating Impressionist art or some shit, there would be crickets. I’ve heard the argument made here that they don’t like rappers and they are all up to no good, which is ridiculous. I don’t think we have to worry about him hanging out with other rappers and getting sucked into the lifestyle, he’s just not all that good. Nobody inviting him to guest track anytime soon. Even if he was, a lot of these players are constantly around drugs. Most of them are pretty good about keeping it to weed and some occasional blow.

Getting snaps over Mims isn't that notable. Mims was mediocre and the Jets have little WR depth.

Nor is it notable that Toney didn't get 1st team snaps during minicamp on a team with Golladay/Slayton/Shepard. You know, 3 WRs that have actually been productive in the NFL...
