Summer is way too short in the Northeast. I know we all stretch it as much as we can, but it'll be football season before we know it (not at all a bad thing). But every summer it feels more and more like there's a push to fit in as much as possible while the weather's warm, the kids (when they're young-ish) are "off" from whatever level of school they attend, etc. etc.
What's fun in your summer plans?
A trip to Cleveland this weekend for a memorial service for my mother in law who passed last fall.
Moving our son out into a place with his friends near U of Maryland for his senior year and down to Nashville to take our daughter to college. Empty Nesters by the end of August.
Your last line made me click on your profile. Was just in Arlington last week (business and personal). My sister lives in Clarendon.

Come back for a week, then the wife, son and dogs head to Ohio for three weeks. Got the house all to myself for three weeks (this is the real vacation). Having some high school buddies over one weekend, the rest will be spent kayak/fishing on the Potomac.

Clarendon is a great spot. Is she still in her 20/30's? I moved when I was 38. Kept my condo in Ballston and rent it out. That area is fantastic for younger professionals. I really miss those days.
I love visiting though, hoping to get down with the family this fall after the weather breaks.
Avila beach in sept for 3 nites
Maybe go visit a good friend from high school (40 yrs ago) August
-go be teenagers again for a few nights ( put on the gloves and spar with each other, watch pacquio/ Spence, maybe check out a metal show) and KISS at shoreline theater in September, just because when your 12 in the KiSS army, you’re alway to the army)
Will do MAUI for 8 nights end of October too.
And if I can, go visit Hudson valley ( where I lived for 40 yrs) again ( was there last month) in sept because I love autumn during football season. Miss the smelll of the leaves and the chill staring in air late September
There is also a lot of great bike/running trails around there, if you're into that stuff.
I lived there for 18 years (2000-2018). How long has she been there? She's my age, I wonder if I know her.
Love Georgetown, we walked over last time we visited pre-kids. Love the nightlife down there. Now its low-key, kid friendly visits.
Because of this, I haven't really put in for vacations, besides that one in a few weeks. I need to start doing a better job of pushing back, but I also don't want our leadership to view me as unwilling to work. It's a tricky spot...
Make sure you download a few movies post-2015 for the trip!
Because I don't care for 95-100 degree weather and crappy remakes? Okay I will dial it back with the open discourse since you're so vulnerable to anybody giving an opinion who doesn't agree with you.
Went there in December 2019. That's where I watched Eli's final game.
We're not planning any vacation, partly because the only place we like to go in the summers is Nova Scotia, and it remains closed.
Sure. Why not? 😆
I'm particularly excited about a site I booked on the beach at Sea Girt, NJ. A military base - working for gov't has it's perks.
