Detroit won the Cade sweepstakes.
Toronto hitting the 4th spot they get to draft their replacement for Lowery.
It will be interesting to see if the Knicks can package picks and move up and if they even want to?
Hopefully a PG slips down in range of the Knicks.
Will GS trade 7 and 14 for a Vet to help them win now or build for post Curry?
Less than a month to the draft and rumors are flying around.
First time in 7 years.
Weird feeling not being disappointed on lottery night
Gotta think they let him walk getting the 4 pick. Jalen Green is expected to be the pick.
Would he take a big 1 year deal or 2 with an option?
I still wanted to punch that guy pulling the cards (Mark Tatum?) in the face. But I agree, I felt like there was a lot less attention paid to it without Twitter being able to clown the Knicks on dropping, though maybe I'm paranoid.
It was only a matter of time before he was hired. People seem to love him.

I like both but with Randle and Toppin can you play either at center?
I know you don't draft for need but I would be pretty disappointed if we don't get either a 3-D wing and/or PG.
I would take a true center to play next to Randle also .
Can't jump, not great speed, generally not a killer athlete.
But he looks like he can play basketball. If he's around when the knicks pick he might be worth the gamble.

I'd be plenty happy with Lowry on a short deal if there are no "big" moves coming.

By "option" do you mean player option or team option?
I asked last night in the other thread b/c I wasn't sure: are there "option" years that can be both? i.e. both the player and team have to opt in? Seems like that might be attractive to Lowry for the 2nd year. If the numbers and guaranteed $ are big enough.
Wasn't it nice to not even realize?
PROGRESS!

I think Garuba has a shot to be a pretty high level defensive player (who has also shown 3 point range AND the ability to handle). It's quite obvious the Knicks have multiple needs but they also are clearly not a high level team in terms of athletes or man defenders. Garuba is a 3-4-5. Where the Knicks pick you have to go BPA or you risk drafting a complete slug because you reached,
2021 Draft Profile - Usman Garuba
Kyle Boone CBS Sports - June 21st: "Garuba is a smidge undersized as an NBA center but categorized as a "big" and looking at his production overseas, there's a lot to like about his NBA upside, particularly as a defender."
Chad Ford - NBA Big Board - June 18: "Garuba shows promise as a high-motor, athletic big who can rebound and defend. He has a chance to be the best defensive big man in this draft."
NBA Draft Room - June 18th: "The high energy defender and rebounder who has an emerging offensive game."
Ricky O'Donnell SB Nation - June 17: "Garuba is one of the best defensive prospects in this class as a burly forward who is light on his feet and can stick with a variety of different types of players."
Tyler Byrum and Chase Hughes NBC Sports - June 14: "Offensive limitations are preventing Garuba from getting into the lottery range. Most of his scoring comes from dunks and buckets around the rim. He has shown promise from establishing a shot, but not nearly enough."
Kevin O'Connor The Ringer - June: "Switchable defender with the bulk to handle bigger players and the agility to match up against quicker wings and even guards. He’s aware and does a good job of using his hands to shut passing windows."
Jonathan Givony ESPN - May 25: "Garuba, one of the most intense and versatile defenders in this draft class."
I've heard from a solid source/writer the expectation is the Knicks are 100% going to be packaging picks, that Kevin Knox is "gone" if anybody offers even a 2nd or their Knox and that the Knicks remain high on Obi. I asked about Vildoza and got "somebody with the Knicks obviously likes him but there are FO members who barely seem to know who he even is". So it sounds like he was somebodies pet project etc (doesn't mean he won't be good).
My expectations are modest - just get a legit starting PG and find bench upgrades for guys like Knox and Frank. Hopefully Vildoza is one piece to that puzzle. My hope is to stay in that 4-6 range of the playoff bracket next season.
Starting pg, good-sized 3 who can shoot, and backup center who can shoot. With decent luck, we get one of the first two in the draft after trading up and the other in FA or a trade.
I suspect that there is a decent chance that we package our two first-round picks to move up, but possibly hang on to the 32nd pick. There are often lots of back-up centers floating around at that point in the draft. Shooting guards, too.

Wow. Looks like Lacob REALLY wants Steph to stick around...there's a weird vibe there between Steph & Lacob from all accounts.

Steph should get a 5 year max deal and there should be no debate

I think it will be Jalen Suggs.

Screw LeFraud. The best part about what’s happening right now in the playoffs is that 3 of the 4 teams are mostly teams built up through the draft with a few shrewd additions mixed in. It gives me hope as a Knicks fan. But for LeFraud, because of what HE started, thinks he now needs to add Steph Curry to himself and AD to win a championship. GOAT my ass. Maybe convince Doncic to ask for LA too? Would that help LeBron win another “title”? Disgusting.
They have a long list of guys 26 and under: Randle, RJ. Robinson, Quick, Obi, Knox, Frank (if they bring him back), and Luca. Eight guys. It wouldn’t surprise me if they traded all of the picks to avoiding a rookie to the roster.
If he's Lou Will, we've hit a HR.
This has been a weird NBA season.
I’d still bet everything on the Bucks this series but what Trae did to Jrue and the Bucks tonight was something else.
He’s playing great, but his team shockingly has more talent than the Mavs.
I hate Trae Young and the Hawks more than any team I've ever hated at a single time. I hate them so much. I do think if they make it to the Finals the Suns will dispose of them, but I've been saying that about every team they move onto next for the last 3 series and I seem to be wrong every time. They do flat out play hard for 48 minutes in the postseason. I wish I could've said the same thing for the Knicks (other than Rose and Taj of course).
By the way-- Middleton is brutal. How the hell is he a 2x all star? He just seems to have like 1 good game every 10 games and yet he's still considered the 2nd banana on the Bucks and is one of their main offensive staples. He doesn't get enough criticism when the Bucks struggle. Like I know he shoots like 28% on the road, but if you're a good "home" player you have to at least show up at home in the ECF. HE was the difference. Giannis did fine and I had no problem with his approach to this game and how he played. Holiday had an incredible game. All Middleton had to do have an average night and the Bucks win. Instead of course he had to make up for Giannis and Holiday having decent nights by being absolutely awful. Actually just looked it up he did literally shoot 28%.
When the Bucks lose, Middleton’s numbers are horrendous. Absolutely fucking horrendous. When they win, his numbers are excellent.
0/9.
This may not be great for ratings but it’s great for the game of basketball which has been largely unwatchable. Hawks are must see TV right now.

Young is the new Reggie Miller. He's awesome and I hate him.

its not just the shit talking, it is the constant whining yo officials, flopping all over the place, intiating the contact and getting the call every single time...
then complain ehen the other team gets the same call..
