Detroit won the Cade sweepstakes.
Toronto hitting the 4th spot they get to draft their replacement for Lowery.
It will be interesting to see if the Knicks can package picks and move up and if they even want to?
Hopefully a PG slips down in range of the Knicks.
Will GS trade 7 and 14 for a Vet to help them win now or build for post Curry?
Less than a month to the draft and rumors are flying around.
I rewatched A Magic Moment a couple weeks back. I still can't believe Orlando let Shaq go.
you are left with Dame, Iq, Randle, 21st pick, luca, Pelle, and roughly 40 million to spend

That is a lot. But I would probably do it. It is a stars league.

Are you assuming that 40 is for Kawhi?

that 40 can be for whatever they want
that 40 can be for whatever they want
In reality whatever Dame wants
@ChrisBHaynes
The backlash from Portland Trail Blazers’ coaching search and his concerns over whether a championship contender can be built have become major factors that could force Damian Lillard to request out, league sources tell @YahooSports.
Yep. Apparently Dame is getting killed on social media for “recommending” Billups. Make it happen!

how the Knicks could offer more than Philly for Lillard, and hard to imagine he wouldnt be willing to go to Philly.
Simmons is still extremely young and extremely talented and a change of scenery could be just what he needs.
it depends what they want..
anyone who trades forvsimmons and builds around him are morons just my opinion
I just dont see a Knicks offer that can be better. I don't love Simmons but I'd certainly pick Simmons over Barrett, maybe its just me
It's not apples to apples. Simmons has 4 years of max money on his deal. Barrett is still on his rookie contract. Houston didn't want to take LeVert because they didn't think he was worth the money he's owed as one example.
Exactly. Simmons on a max contract is a negative. Portland isn’t winning a championship by trading Dame and replacing him with Simmons. I’m not saying the Knicks could put together the best offer but in terms of where Portland would be headed if they trade Dame, the Knicks package of RJ, other pieces like Mitch and a boatload of picks seems like a much better deal than tying up a max in freakin Simmons

Who realistically can they add to that group? Bring back the core from last year (Noel, Rose, Bullock) and one bigger piece (Powell)?

What if they think they can "fix" Simmons?

They most likely fill in the bench with role players on 1 year deals and then go for a 3rd guy in free agency next year..
a lot of avenues still open even after a lillard trade

Well of course, there’s always that chance. If they want to take that risk on a player that hasn’t been able to be fixed yet and according to many reports has a terrible work ethic, more power to them. Even if they “fix” him, he isn’t leading that team to a championship. They have no cap space.
I believe Knicks are around 13 million under currently, so if they send out Rj, Obi and Knox in the deal they could do it now..

Oof, that's a lot. You had me until the Knicks 24th and the two swaps.

RJ, IQ, Obi, both 21 1sts, 22 Pick Swap, both 23 1sts, 24 pick swap. Probably the absolute best I'd do.

yeah inwas thinking about it, id rather give up both rj and iq and keep Mitch..
You can find 3 and d wings and bring back rose.
didnt amare sit courtside in miami suring the finals?
But gutting all of our assets to pair Dame with Randle and like powell and some other ok player i just dont think they do it. Dame isnt 25 he is 30. We need dame to push his way here to the point where maybe we can make that deal without RJ. Im fine with the picks, IQ, obi, mitch, etc...That said Dame has very little leverage because he is signed for the next like 5 years so they can trade him wherever they want. Sure teams wont want an unhappy superstar but still.

I agree and why would Dame want to come here if all those assets are headed to Portland? This would be a worse situation than the one he’s already in. Only way to even consider that is if another star is brought here first, otherwise it makes no sense for either side. Dame, Randall and fillers with no future picks is not very attractive. To anyone.

but i dont think the knicks are trading RJ, Obi at least one of IQ/Mitch and 5 firsts for Dame. If this is next offseason and you are thinking you can pair dame with Lavine/Beal to go with Randle and maybe mitch and then knowing you can still get at least one more pretty good player willing to come to NY to play with that group for less then they would get elsewhere (like a harrell in LA this past year).

These moves arent made in a vacuum, there is always a next move linedup, like kawhi and george to clippers..
Force your way here and have Kawhi join you - Kawhi is reportedly annoyed at the Clippers over the handling of his injury. Remember, his relationship with San Antonio fell apart over injury miscommunication/mishandling.
OR
Force your way here and we'll get the second star next summer and go over the cap to keep Randle (and RJ, if by some miracle he's not included in the Dame trade)
It would obviously be far less complicated for Dame to go to Golden State, Philly, Miami or the Lakers (never count them out), but this is why Leon and Wes are here. If they don't deliver a star, Jimmy Dolan won't be happy.

Agreed. This is why Leon and Wes were brought here.
Knicks are poised now more than in a longtime to acquire multiple superstars:
1. A restructured front office with many connections in the league
2. a stabilized culture and very strong coaching staff top to bottom.
3. Knicks proved they can win again last year.
4. 5 FRPs and a bunch of 2nd round picks in the next 3 years.
5. $60 million in cap space that can balloon to over $75-80 million if guys like Knox,Obi etc. are traded.
Gibby, Bouknight, Sharife Cooper
That team would be worse than where he is now. Makes zero sense.

they wouldnt be done, the team eouldnt be just lillard and Randle
I assume the third first is the early second rounder we have?

Yeah sorry, the first 3 picks (per Berman)
If you plug in his measurements to the simulator tool from NBAthlete.com, two of the players with similar measurements are stellar wing defenders Marcus Smart and De’Anthony Melton. Both of these players notched a “similarity score” to Lewis of at least 91 percent.
The 21-year-old had his limitations on the offensive side of the floor but like Smart and Melton, his primary strength in the NBA is going to be his defense and athleticism.
While he is just 6-foot-4 without shoes, Lewis also measured with a 7-foot wingspan during the event. That elite length gives him a huge advantage on the defensive side of the floor, as you can see in this highlight below:
Not saying this was be a good move but a trade up with San Antonio to 12 feels like a logical move. Maybe even 19 and 21 get it done and they keep 32.
isnt that why he was fored in chicago? paxson couldnt eork with him
I get Denver, but what is Toronto giving up?
