Detroit won the Cade sweepstakes.
Toronto hitting the 4th spot they get to draft their replacement for Lowery.
It will be interesting to see if the Knicks can package picks and move up and if they even want to?
Hopefully a PG slips down in range of the Knicks.
Will GS trade 7 and 14 for a Vet to help them win now or build for post Curry?
Less than a month to the draft and rumors are flying around.
RJ - ( New Window )
Oooooh, ehhhhh, yeah okay but only if we don't have to add too much more
The Knicks were never going to commit to a long term rebuild with Thibs. That's especially true now that there's a 2nd team all NBA player in his prime on the roster.
RJ has to be the centerpiece in a trade for either.

If you trade for a atar i think Pubre is a good fit, but i am not giving him 20 million a year
Can't wait...Haha.
As they should.
69% FT.
Only 1.3 assists.
Good luck with that.
As for RJ, I said at mid-season that Thibs wanted to trade him and nothing changed my opinion. There's a way you handle a player when you believe in him and a way when you don't.
Even when RJ improved his 3 pt percentage to be as good as Bullock and Burks, Thibs coached as though he thought they would make their next one, while RJ would not.
Tough to play for a coach that doesn't believe in you, so probably best for RJ that he go somewhere else.
Beverely is one of the biggest jackasses in the game.
And willing to include Barrett to get Beal or Lillard is a no brainer. We are talking about the leagues leading scorer and a 1st team all nba player. Need to give up to get something.

this is my thinking on Barrett..
If you think he is going to be all nba type player you keep him and max him out..
If you think he is goingnto be a good player 1 all star appearance type player you trade while his value is high...Good players always end up overpaid
Knicks need to sell it as we can give you a ton of picks and you dont have to absorb salary. Plus a couple kids like Obi and one of Mitch/IQ. Its still a lot honestly, but you keep RJ one of Mitch/IQ and you go from there.

I think if we kept RJ out of it we'd have to include at least 2 out of Mitch, Obi and IQ if not all 3.

cap space is of course important but Portland has never really been much of a destination and the Blazers have never been a team that looks to bottom out. They may prefer getting back vets under contract so they can remain competitive. Normally trading a guy like Lillard would be an ownership level decision, but since Paul Allen died I have no clue who's really running the Blazers. His wife?

on trading lillard said the knicks have a huge advantage in being able to absorb the salary. I wonder if POR would really be willing to accept less to save money. The article references it more as a chance to start over then saving money, but still.

I'm not sure that they'll really have a choice if they trade Dame. There isn't going to be a package out there in my opinion that would allow them to remain competitive. At best it would be like the Spurs after the Kawhi deal, just barely good enough to compete for an 8th seed.
OKC was in a similar spot two years ago and now they're THE rebuilding team when it comes to cap space and picks. I could see Portland going in that direction. Knicks fandom aside, I do think that's the way to go with these superstar trades. Even Houston's future no longer looks so bleak post-Harden and it has been less than a year.

I want to be impressed but Josh Magette is 31 years old with 26 NBA games and hasn't played in the NBA sinc 2019-220? Mathias 8 NBA games played...John Jenkins was formerly (briefly) with the Knicks

The Miami Heat and New York Knicks are indeed monitoring the Collin Sexton situation in Cleveland, per sources.

You do everything you can to keep Barrett out of the deal. I think he is absolutely off the table for Beal.
Dame is a tougher sell but you do it.
Barrett averaged 17.6 points on 44.1% shooting, 40.1 % from 3, 5.8 rebounds and 3.0 assists at 20 years old also he has proven to work hard and get better.
IMO if you add a Dame it will take pressure off of RJ to help him develop and when Dame is 35 in 4 years Barrett will be 25.
Also NYG16 is a Barrett hater and would automatically include him in any deal out there

that is false as i ahve said many times inwould only trade rj for a star and have said many times i would love to keep rj..
and no i dont see Rj ever becoming a star player...sorry i dont

question about Barrett is: Can he go from 17 PPG to 25? I'm skeptical, mostly because his handle flat out stinks. If his ceiling is 3rd or 4th option then you move him tomorrow, which I think it might be.
exactly
I am not at all skeptical on this.
He is strong to the rim and will get stronger as he grows up.
I would think the longer he works his 3 pt shooting will continue to improve and not just be a catch and shoot player.
He needs to continue to work on his mid-range and pull up.
He is a strong defender and takes pride in his defense.
He just turned 21 in June and he already knows what it takes to be a pro.
He is a worker, I think it's a mistake to move him.
Nothing is guaranteed but I would not bet against him 25+ scorer.
I still think the odds are long Dame ends up in NY.

We were all out on Randle before the season.
RJ is showing flashes of the potential at a young age.
I do think Rose really helped RJ play to his potential.
I'm in text thread with bunch of cousins-some Knicks fans, some Cs fans-& I floated the idea of Zion turning down the supermax & just saying, 'F it. I'm going to FA.' Would I be surprised? Somewhat, but not totally. That franchise doesn't seem long for that market; the Pels are probably the 10th most popular team in Louisiana right behind LSU women's field hockey. nygiants16 the other day said he was surprised that wasn't more of a desirable job...I think it's not because-IMO-there's a decent chance Zion isn't in NOLA in a few years & the franchise just craters. And the way Zion talked about playing in MSG...I don't think that was just hyperbole.

something is going on because they cant find a coach, you would think a youbg coach would be excited to take that job, instead Vaughn who seemed to be the favorite said no thank you..

Is it just me or are the Heat rumored to be involved with every player that has ever hit FA or been made available in a trade? I know it’s a bit of an exaggeration but it seems their name comes up every single time

Knicks will be too..I Believe Heat have a max slot just like the Knicks
Lol haven't heard those since I was chanting it at MSG last year when he dropped like 30 on the Bulls haha
Love it
Can we reset now.
What are the 76ers and Nets doing right now?
Can they meet at Rucker park?
I'm definitely in on Sexton for the right price. Think he's a better option than any of the FA PGs. Randle could still be the main facilitator.
Is this something your hearing or basing it off of Leon being his former agent?
