If only deGrom could teach him how to get a couple more mph, he might not need a third pitch lol
Conforto’s double key that inning

ZGiants98 : 6/23/2021 9:04 pm : link
Big time here.
Castro is less than 50/50
jpkmets : 6/23/2021 9:05 pm : link
to make it out of here. We need this game and Castro is not all there right now. Hopefully he can make a good pitch, get Almonte and hit the showers.
Castro

sucks now
Nice, he hung in and made the pitch he needed
jpkmets : 6/23/2021 9:07 pm : link

NEWS: This afternoon the Mets fired four clubhouse assistants and their long-time clubhouse chef. A team spokesman confirmed the firings and said, "We do not comment on personnel matters, except to confirm this had nothing to do with the WilmerHale culture review."

The lineup sure is different with Conforto and McNeil in it.

And they grab a game against everyone except for Washington.

I was very surprised..
moze1021 : 6/24/2021 7:16 am : link
to hear what Billy Wagner said as a guest on the broadcast last night.

He talked about using "stuff" to aid his grip, I think he particularly mentioned pine tar. Also said he "grew up on it"...

For those pitchers out there....was I living in a bubble through the late 90s and 2000s as a HS/Club pitcher? Were people at that level using "stuff"? I never used ANYTHING. Not even rosin. I unfortunately had a HS Wrestling coach serving as my baseball coach so didn't learn much from him...he just pushed me out there for over half our teams innings and said "throw hard"..

I'm looking back regretful... throwing 85/86 as a 17 year old senior, I either struck guys out or hit em when things slipped. Now I'm sitting here wondering 'what if' again! haha
Excellent and much-needed game from
jpkmets : 6/24/2021 8:00 am : link
all quarters last night. Today is the rare time I welcome an off day during the season. Phillies in for two tomorrow (4 in 3 days overall), then a make-up game in Washington on the way to Atlanta for 3. Love to hang 5-3 on the next eight and that gives us 8-8 over the 16 division game stretch.

But really felt like that was a big win last night given the recent offensive struggles.

McNeil, with his aggression, seems to like leadoff. Any thought to keeping him there, having Nimmo hit two, Lindor 3. Alonso 4 and use Conforto to try and protect Alonso at 5?

I think I might try that. Pete has been getting a lot of offspeed off the plate and isn’t selective enough to make that work at this point.
Nimmo's OBP is 90 points higher than McNeil
KDavies : 6/24/2021 8:55 am : link
I have a hard time taking Nimmo out of leadoff if healthy.

I go Nimmo, Lindor, Conforto, Alonso, McNeil, Smith right now. You can switch around depending on who is hot.

crazy that Nimmo has only 7 runs in 21 games
KDavies : 6/24/2021 9:21 am : link
while getting on base at a .430 clip. Looking forward to him having a normal Lindor, Conforto, and Alonso hitting behind him

Eno said he spoke to a "bunch" of pitchers and each and every one of them guessed extremely high numbers on how many pitchers used at least sunscreen. His guess based on his conversations was about 85%. Related... Eno Sarris is top notch. His content is great.
I think we need another argument over

A prospect because vientos hasn’t stopped hitting since. If only anyone wanted to argue Lindsey.

last 10 games: .325 BA (13-40) with 9 runs, 2 doubles, 6 HR, and 13 RBI
Ha yea that’s why I picked him as his career is over
bhill410 : 6/24/2021 10:27 am : link
We missed our chance to give him the BBI bump
Yeah Nimmo has to be leadoff for me
ZGiants98 : 6/24/2021 11:35 am : link
He’s easily one of the best in the business if healthy.

I’d probably go

Nimmo
Lindor
McNeil
Alonso
Conforto
Villar
Dom
McCann
Lineup is about to get a massive charge
ZGiants98 : 6/24/2021 11:37 am : link
Lindor, Dom, and McCann all up to a 95/96 wRC+ now. Almost at league average after all hovering around 60 at one point! And that’s the three worst this year.

Conforto, Alonso, Villar, LG, McNeil, Nimmo all well over.

No offense to the Tovar’s, Perazas, and Drury’s... but thank God!
Going to Mets-Phils Sunday ...
Beezer : 6/24/2021 12:32 pm : link
deGrom is slated as the Saturday Game 2 starter ... Eickhoff Sunday. Our string of not seeing the top of the rotation continues. lol

What are the chances he gets pushed to Sunday?

A guy can hope.
