One of the All Time Greats!
Conan ends 30 years in the business tonight. He is moving on to doing specials / variety here or there. But his run as a talk show host appears to be over.
(CNN)Almost 30 years after becoming the "new guy" in late-night TV, Conan O'Brien is closing that chapter of his life. And while the key players associated with his long, strange odyssey made out better than fine, that doesn't mean the red-haired host wound up where he wanted to, or that the ride hasn't been a roller coaster.
Having followed O'Brien's arc from the beginning, it's hard to believe he's become such a part of the cultural firmament. As a reminder, he was tapped to fill David Letterman's old slot at NBC in 1993, when Letterman jumped to CBS after losing out to Jay Leno in the first "The Tonight Show" succession battle.
A 30-year-old unknown comedy writer when making his debut, O'Brien survived cancellation several times in the early going. NBC kept renewing the show in 13-week increments, underscoring its lack of faith, before he became such a valued player that the network anointed him to replace Leno, only to result in a scenario as messy as the first one.
The final "Conan" airs June 24 at 11 p.m. ET on TBS.

That Intern Driving bit was hilarious. Especially after they all got stoned
And his travel series interacting with different cultures and being this lanky pale Irishman getting them in stitches, what a great, silly ride in the most wonderful of ways.
Happy trails, Conan.
I hope Norm shows up. Their chemistry (along with Andy) was awesome.

His 1230 show was so good. Used to watch nightly in college.
Passed him on the streets in NYC about a decade or so ago. He is insanely tall, probably 6'5 or so.

I didn't realize how tall he was until seeing the show live. Reggie Miller was the guest. Standing side by side they appeared to be about the same height. Maybe Miller isn't quite 6'7" or maybe it's just Conan's poofy hair that made up the difference.
When Norm and Courtney Thorne Smith were on, sucked for Courtney Thorne Smith, but that was hilarious.

One of the best exchanges ever on any late night talk show.
Do something with that you freak.

That Carrot Top exchange is absolutely my #1 memory of both Conan and Norm. I say this is a big fan of both, probably more Norm. But their entire “resume” together provided some funny connections. Conan knew how to bring the best out of a weirdo like Norm, and that isn’t easy. Speaks to his greatness as a host.

I would add PimpBot 5000 -- sorry, not Cancelling that Culture! Plus, I think another SNL alum, Robert Smigel, originated Triumph, the Insult Comic Dog on Conan's show. And, like her or not, Amy Poehler got some early spotlight playing Andy's braces-wearing sister interrupting shows from the audience. In addition to writing for SNL, I think Conan was a major contributor to The Simpsons.
I am no longer surprised by how starkly different people's appreciation for certain comedians or even types of humor can be. It's just almost totally personal, regardless of how popular a comic is. I suspect Conan will be back in some different format before too long. He's just too creative not to be.
He wasnt your typical late night host. My mom was even a fan of his when she wanted to go to a taping.
The best part of his shows were always the on location bits, and the sketches that were so charmed in their cheap design.
I think he was so relatable because the heart of his comedy was always self deprecating, so easy to relate to.

Was going to say that Chris in Philly is going to differ with you : )
