NFT: Bucks vs. Suns NBA Finals

dpinzow : 7/3/2021 11:03 pm
Very impressive performances by the Bucks in Games 5 and 6 without Giannis to put away the Hawks. Suns will be favored especially with Giannis not 100%, but Middleton is now a full-fledged star after he won Game 6 of the ECF with that huge 3rd quarter

I think it'll be the Suns in 6 but I wouldn't count the Bucks out. I like this Finals matchup because it isn't the usual suspects

Why isn't Phoenix doubling Giannis every time
dpinzow : 7/20/2021 10:35 pm : link
Nobody else on the Bucks is making a shot
All tied up after three.

Here we go…
Giannis 14/15 at the line.

As great as this Knicks season was

One low point was letting crazy eyes killah Portis get away lol
All time great

Chris Paul is not.

Scumbag loser.
Giannis
MookGiants : 7/20/2021 11:27 pm : link
with one of the greatest clinching games ever regardless of sport. May be the greatest, I can't think of a better one off the top of my head at least.
Booker not playing well
nygiants16 : 7/20/2021 11:28 pm : link
in a physical game, shocker
Walt Frazier had one like this, but Giannis may have him beat.
bceagle05 : 7/20/2021 11:29 pm : link
Speaking of Frazier, those top PG lists need more Clyde and less CP3.
I wasn’t sure the Bucks had enough offense to win it all
bceagle05 : 7/20/2021 11:30 pm : link
but their defense is legit - Giannis, Holiday, Middleton and Tucker are all terrific on that end of the floor.

Mook man what did Chris Paul do in like an NC- Wake game 15 years ago? Spit on you or something?
Get Giannis to 50+

Yeah this is the best clinching performance in my lifetime
Stu11 : 7/20/2021 11:39 pm : link
The only thing close was Magic vs the Sixers in '80 playing center with Kareem out as a rookie. I'll put this one right there maybe just a bit better because he was absolutely a force every inch of the court.
50 for Giannis

Bucks win the Finals after losing the first two

Four straight after the 0-2 deficit
Now Giannis has a ring, Finals MVP and 50-pt game in the series finale
bceagle05 : 7/20/2021 11:44 pm : link
to go with his two MVPs and Defensive POTY award. If it’s true that other stars in the league don’t see him as an equal, well, he just told them where to stick it.
Unbelievable performance
widmerseyebrow : 7/20/2021 11:44 pm : link
Legend.
Where do the Suns go from here?
nygiants16 : 7/20/2021 11:44 pm : link
do they resign Chris Paul??

How do they add more pieces??

And congrats to Giannis, never thought he could take over a playoff game without a consistent jump shot and he did exactly that tonight
Giannis's free throws won the game
dpinzow : 7/20/2021 11:47 pm : link
Brooklyn fans, Atlanta fans, and Phoenix fans were all mocking his free throws, and he shot 17-19 from the line in the clincher
I'm really happy for the Bucks
Bricktop : 7/20/2021 11:49 pm : link
But is there a more boring and shitty broadcasting trio than Jackson, Grundle and Breen? Just awful.

I like Breen a lot with Clyde bc Walt is the absolute best.

But JVG and Jackson are corn riddled shit.

This is the best Disney can do? Garbage.
Yeah congrats to the Bucks
Stu11 : 7/20/2021 11:52 pm : link
They've been up there for 3 years and finally got it done. Giannis took it to a whole different level in the finals baseline to baseline like I've never seen before.
What I love about Giannis is he didn't go ring-chasing
dpinzow : 7/20/2021 11:55 pm : link
He got it done as the star almost by force of will in small-market Milwaukee, and got help from some pretty good sidekicks in Middleton and Holiday

He's not winning anything with guys like Kanter. If they don't win it won't be Dame's fault at this rate.

The Bucks deserve credit. They felt the urgency to build a better team around Giannis because he was unhappy and they pressed the right buttons.

Congrats to the Bucks & Giannis. Well deserved.
Its amazing

Bucks are a toe away from having a completely different ending, where their coach is fired and they have a ton of questions..

Instead they are champions, crazy

Dumb thing, but I hate that the owners get to touch the trophy first. Give it to the players. No one cares about the owners.
Congrats to the Bucks
Jim in Forest Hills : 7/21/2021 9:19 am : link
Giannis was just unstoppable.

Is it me or are the Suns the worst Finals team in recent memory? Chris Paul and Booker are good players but not great. Ayton is talented but really soft. And they are small too.

Also, congrats to the Nets on their NBA championship. What an accomplishment.

I doubt the Suns ever get this close again. EVERYTHING broke right for them in the West & it's hard to see that happening again. The Bucks should be good for awhile, though it's hard to win a championship, much less championships. I'm glad Giannis got his ring...he's a likable dude.

To blow a 2-0 lead when it's probably your only shot is really rough.
I think the Suns
Enzo : 7/21/2021 10:41 am : link
were a worthy contender this year. They finished 2nd overall, had a top 5 offense, and a top 10 defense. What's weird is the huge gap in age between Paul and their other cornerstone players. Booker/Ayton are still ascending and that's a hell of a foundation. But Paul is obviously not going to be there for the long haul. Can they replace him at some point with another star?
Does Milwaukee winning last night

and guys like Beal and Lillard watching Giannis celebrate, does that make them want to stay with their teams more?

Probably not. Both players spent 9 years with the teams that drafted them and really haven't seen an uptick in odds of winning (especially with LeBron in the west for Lillard's sake). Giannis really took off in 2016 or so and is simply the more impactful player. Beal and Lillard are basically maxed out in terms of what they can do for their teams so unless they get considerable help, they aren't going to win.

I do hope Lillard stays though, I like him a lot and Portland is a fun team.

it's not the same. Bucks were more of a legit contender than the Wizards and Trailblazers the last few years. Wizards have been bad for a while and the Trailblazers have been one and done 4 out of the last 5 seasons. Three of the "player created" teams lost primarily due to major injuries (Lakers, Nets, Clips). You can't bank on that happening every year.
instead of watching the finals
santacruzom : 7/21/2021 12:03 pm : link
and interpreting it as a sign he ought to stay in Portland, I wonder if Lillard is thinking he ought to find a way to join the Suns.
best clinching performance I've seen

Doubt it. Both are older than Giannis & neither have had nearly as good as teams. Let's not forget Bucks were up 2-0 on the eventual NBA champs in '19. The Wizards haven't come close to ECF under Beale & Blazers got swept by Dubs the one time they got to WCF with Dame.
