I love Peart, and I think he is going to end up being a cornerstone lineman for the next 4-5 years at least. But that's just me, and I'm generally overly enthusiastic about players I like.
The immediate concern is that, between COVID and the OL coaching mess, 2020 may not have been the developmental year he needed. So we might still be a year away from knowing what we have in Peart.
Then he started giving up the outside pass rush. Peart seems to have all the physical tools, so with coaching and effort there is a good chance he has improved in that area.
I'm too optimistic and too easily impresses, but I thought I saw something special in time that was both limited and impacted by the civid. There are small 300 lbr's (see Shawn O'hara & Scot Lemieurix sp?) and there big ones. Matt's huge he makes gigantia look like a two year old's sailing boat in his first bath.
When he engaged guys it was like he had velcro sewed into the arms of his Jersey.
Hardworking and smart, I think we found a jewel in the third round.
Big disappointment and a blow to the club if I'm wrong.
He has the tools, the attitude, the size to be very successful
I wanted Peart in the draft because of his high upside and incredible size/arm length. I expected Peart to redshirt last season especially with the limited offseason. Peart earned time and played significantly better than I expected prior to contracting COVID.
Fleming struggled last season as the starter and I am confident that Peart will be much better than Fleming was. My prediction is that Peart will perform as well as Kareem McKenzie.
Seems like he has a high upside. Great physical skills. Like most of the OL he has to show it on the field. I’m reasonably confident things will go well but that’s worth very little.
My biggest fear for this team is either Thomas or Peart goes down, and we have to play Solder. And he is even worse than the last time we saw him. (Very likely considering his age and being out of football for 2 years.) So, I really hope Peart plays well, and stays healthy.
We are going to see a big jump forward in our OL play this year. I really REALLY liked what I saw from Peart pre-covid. He has the tools, if he takes coaching well and keeps his confidence up, I think we have a heck of a player there. I think all of the guys we have just need consistency and confidence.
RE: Peart Was Initially Rated the NYG's Best Lineman
opining that MP was a year away, so 2021 is their projected season for him to begin to get his experience.
That he got some valuable PT and performed rather well (pre-Covid) was a bonus to said analysts. Unfortunately, he didn’t fully recover from Covid which rendered him rather weak physically, imv.
Probably one of the more critical players that the Giants
need to be able to hold his own from Day 1 this season. If Peart is not a reasonable solution for Right Tackle that is a problem for both 2021 and 2022.
By the way, how could you "love" Matt Peart based on his limited volume of snaps last year? Odd comment.
Peart and Thomas should both be pretty good for us.
My biggest question is WTF is Nate Solder doing on this team? The guy is spent. He was just horrible in 18' & 19' and should be retired by now. He really doesn't give a shit about football or the NY Giants. He has no pride. I hate the sight of him in a Giant uniform and the sooner he is gone the better. If he is put out on the field expect our QB to get injured. He is a has been and a liability who has no heart or anything else to give a football team. He deserves to be shown the door. He is right up there with Albert Haynesworth in my book.

Really silly opinion on Solder, imv..
You can go fuck yourself
If I could, I’d never leave the house.
Last I saw of Peart he gave up b2b sacks and went to the bench
you could say he was a rookie or he just came back from Covid. We can make excuses for anyone. So I have no clue how he will perform, he showed glimpses and ended on a bad note. I think Judge played him smartly giving him a lot of PT. What will happen opening day when Von Miller/Chubb are lined up across him every snap? Or its 3rd down and Chase Young is screaming off the edge? If he is winning those battles, will go a long way to the success of the team.
Peart and Thomas should both be pretty good for us.

Well done!! You have much more restraint than I - except maybe in the pleasuring area from the sounds of it....
for Peart and other players to be successful. Except for that guy not rooting for Solder. The Giants in general put together a roster of players you can be proud to root for. Now there isnt much to go on for Peart for anyone to say with conviction that he will be good, terrible or average. For his second season I will take average, that would be an improvement over what we had last year at RT.
If we can get improvement at most positions I think we are in a good spot. My biggest concern for this team is the interior OL positions, aside from Gates they were awful. Gates in my opinion was an average OC which I will take, I think he can and will improve. I do not have the same high hopes for Hernandez, I think we have seen his best and his best is below average. I hope I am wrong.
I think the reasons for keeping Soldier are cap related - get a veteran backup while mitigating a giant signing/cap error.
I really do love your response though. Perfect, funny, not taking yourself too seriously. Still laughing as I type this.

been stretching for years, at this point i'm not gonna get there....
Like how a man who is fresh off a life-threatening virus that impacts your lung capacity and breathing is an "excuse" to these people when he isn't the same player.
People may like Peart a lot because he showed a lot of growth and promise early on and prior to Covid.
Covid is a systemic disease although it is a respiratory virus. It has
effects on multiple organ systems from brain, heart etc in addition to airways and lungs. Hard to know how super athletes are effected. Hopefully none of the Giants will have long term effects. We are just learning about these chronic physiological problems in unfortunately too many people, and its not confined tot he elderly.
China owes the world big time but I don't mean this as a political statement as this is just epidemiology.
Or, like Bill said, who the hell knows?

LOL. My thoughts exactly. He was drafted in the 3rd round so...?

Seriously, who the F knows. When he played pre Covid, he looked good. Post-Covid, not so good. We will find out soon enough.

That was the coaching kicking in.

Keep giving out the hot takes and pissing off guys like Fiddy instead of going on about some homoerotic shit.
I think they will be a good run blocking line. I also expect them to continue the three man rotation at tackle.
