Walnuts don’t belong in chocolate chip cookies

But if you must, just follow the recipe on the back of the Nestle bag.
I make these without nuts
Bill in UT : 7/19/2021 12:05 pm : link
but you can just add nuts to the recipe. Watch for doneness, don't just go by cooking time. Nuts may have an effect

Seems like a no-brainer

Any recipe will do so long as you have flour, eggs, regular sugar, and quality chocolate chips. I like a darker semi sweet as opposed to milk chocolate.

IMHO any recipe that does not use some dark brown sugar isn't worth making.

Everyone loved my mom's chocolate chip cookies. She used all of the above, but her secret ingredient was crushed walnuts. She powdered them in a food processor. It added a great flavor and nobody who ever hated walnuts even knew unless they had an allergic reaction I never heard about.

Sometimes she'd leave a few whole walnuts in there, but powdering them gave the cookies their distinct flavor.

with nuts?

nuts are great in cookies
UConn4523 : 7/19/2021 1:15 pm : link
I also can't stand chocolate chip cookies with too many chocolate chips. The cookie is the most important part and if you don't do that right the toppings don't matter (similar to pizza).

but really, why are we putting nuts and raisins in chocolate chip cookies? raisins especially, that are similar enough in color to chocolate and not a pleasant surprise.

also melted in the microwave for 30 seconds. Way, way better than Pepperidge farm, if they sell in your region.

Chocolate chip cookie dough melted for 70 seconds is pretty excellent, also. Very chocolaty, very crunchy, despite the use of a microwave.

The main problem with the intolerance thread was that it was doomed to go political. I thought that it was great fun while it lasted.

Yeah, you're probably right. And my 'intolerance' of cars with loud mufflers-which I mentioned in that since deleted thread- has gone up a level, as I've heard like seemingly 5 today. Those bastards.

I like the walnuts but in my home I stand alone
oghwga : 7/19/2021 8:50 pm : link
Cookie dough cooks up better if it's refrigerated after it's made.

I make up a batch and roll it up in logs wrapped in Saran wrap. Store in the fridge for a week or two or freeze it.

Easy enough when you want fresh cookies to slice a few and bake anytime.

Also good to slice off a chunk raw when the urge arises.

Sarcasm about the relatively low rating? No. The baked goods I make from her recipes are rated 4.6-4.8. The chunk cookies may be very good, just saying I personally won't do anything rated 4.4 on FoodNetwork

At least, I'd read the reviews of 4.0 or less and see what people are complaining about. If you feel the complaints are not a problem for you, go for it.
To me...
Grey Pilgrim : 7/20/2021 2:26 pm : link
a 4.4 review is pretty good.

Though I usually modify the recipes to add more nuts, sugar etc.

Thanks guys!
