My wife and I have experimented with probably 100s, yes 100s of recipes. Can confidently say these are the best cookies we've ever made. Follow the directions PERFECTLY the BEST cookies you can make - ( New Window )
but the question makes me want to know if people recall the old Mrs Fields (I think that it actually originally was Nieman Marcus) chocolate chip cookies internet spoof? It was probably one of the very first spams.
Any recipe will do so long as you have flour, eggs, regular sugar, and quality chocolate chips. I like a darker semi sweet as opposed to milk chocolate.
IMHO any recipe that does not use some dark brown sugar isn't worth making.
Everyone loved my mom's chocolate chip cookies. She used all of the above, but her secret ingredient was crushed walnuts. She powdered them in a food processor. It added a great flavor and nobody who ever hated walnuts even knew unless they had an allergic reaction I never heard about.
Sometimes she'd leave a few whole walnuts in there, but powdering them gave the cookies their distinct flavor.
I also can't stand chocolate chip cookies with too many chocolate chips. The cookie is the most important part and if you don't do that right the toppings don't matter (similar to pizza).

I have a copy of that recipe saved somewhere. Spoof or not, they're delicious - I enjoy the oats.

I actually think that that was the last line of the emails.
but really, why are we putting nuts and raisins in chocolate chip cookies? raisins especially, that are similar enough in color to chocolate and not a pleasant surprise.

I'm old enough to remember that Mrs. Fields was the landlord's wife on Abbott and Costello

Was the strawberry frosted donut Oreos. Those were amazing unfortunately I discovered them at the end of the run and got only two packs before they were done but man just like the dunkin doughnut strawberry frosted.
The main problem with the intolerance thread was that it was doomed to go political. I thought that it was great fun while it lasted.
Yeah, you're probably right. And my 'intolerance' of cars with loud mufflers-which I mentioned in that since deleted thread- has gone up a level, as I've heard like seemingly 5 today. Those bastards.
RE: RE: Walnuts don’t belong in chocolate chip cookies
But if you must, just follow the recipe on the back of the Nestle bag.

yep. get the yellow Nestle Toll House Semi Sweet Chocolate Morsels bag. Recipe on the back. Just add the walnuts. Or make 1/2 the cookies without walnuts.
Complete with Walnuts! https://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/ina-garten/chocolate-chunk-cookies-recipe-1925679 - ( New Window )
btw, that recipe was rated 4.4 out of 5, which is very low for an Ina Garten dessert
Sarcasm?
Sarcasm about the relatively low rating? No. The baked goods I make from her recipes are rated 4.6-4.8. The chunk cookies may be very good, just saying I personally won't do anything rated 4.4 on FoodNetwork

At least, I'd read the reviews of 4.0 or less and see what people are complaining about. If you feel the complaints are not a problem for you, go for it.

Only if you like cookies chucked back in your face.

be better to put in raisins instead of walnuts in your chocolate chip cookies?

LOL
Have no fear, they aren’t chocolate chip cookies anymore if you add other stuff! Crisis averted.

You can't be trusted, you don't even like chocolate chips in the cookie! Next you're going to tell me you like em burnt to a crisp.
Soft and chewy ONLY
As good as anything you could make
I've mentioned that before, lol. Totally pisses me off. You should only be allowed to use golden raisins in cookies
+1

Chocolate chip cookie dough melted for 70 seconds is pretty excellent, also. Very chocolaty, very crunchy, despite the use of a microwave.
Have you tried this one?

I make up a batch and roll it up in logs wrapped in Saran wrap. Store in the fridge for a week or two or freeze it.
Easy enough when you want fresh cookies to slice a few and bake anytime.
Also good to slice off a chunk raw when the urge arises.

Though I usually modify the recipes to add more nuts, sugar etc.
