I know there’s a few fans on here. New song is really cool. Little different of a sound for them. New album comes out September 3. Can’t wait. Link - ( New Window )
tremendous T Shirt. Looking forward to seeing them again. They're still so goddamned good. Impressive that they've basically been able to remain really good this long and continue to put out solid to great material when a lot of their contemporaries fizzled out.
the best metal band of all time. I don't really love their new shit post somewhere in time but only because I haven't really delved into it that much. No metal band has lasted longer and attracted such a wide demographic. Bruce is a God. I'll give this one a try because why not, not much else is being released.

I like Iron Maiden but Metallica, Def Leppard and AC/DC are all bigger and still active. (maybe not Def Leppard anymore).

My personal fav is Metallica.
Bigger isn't necessarily better. Opinions vary on this, obviously. I'd say that Maiden has been consistently good longer than AC DC and Def Leppard, although both of them were a LOT more popular at their peak. Maiden is definitely more metal for nerds and that recipe has kept them off the radio for their entire career. But they still have filled arenas for 35 years all over the world. The amazing thing about Maiden is that they are consistently strong. IMO, their worst albums (Blaze Bayley not included) are definitely better than the worst albums from those other bands. My opinion, of course.
I read the above post as Maiden having been a bygger band than Metallica and AC/DC. As a non-American I would say that those two bands sell out their concerts within 15 minutes here in Denmark when they go on sale.
Iron Maiden is a mega band no doubt. I agree with you on Maiden being a more metal-"nerdy" band (in a good way)

I should have added in terms of longevity and overall body of work. Maiden isn’t my favorite metal band but i was saying more how long they’ve lasted and how many fans they have reached, globally. More a pure “stats” best metal band label, if you get me.
Other bands had more impact on the genre without a doubt. But what a body of work from these guys. We’re talking five straight decades without a hiccup. Gold and or platinum records all along the way.
Which reminds me that Bruce Dickinson not only makes gold records, he puts his pants on one leg at a time.

Absolutely. Even in the states. No one was bigger than Metallicas and AC/DC and some others. Shit maiden OPENED for Judas Priest. Not the other way around.
Plenty of better or equal peaks than maiden. Sorry I should have added all this on my first post, lol.
My list probably starts with sabbath. If they are the same category. I tend to think sabbath was more dark than heavy. Same with Zep. More bluesy but that’s another topic. I’d say maiden sounds more like Metallica than sabbath.
In the US is vastly different in other counties, especially Central and South America. Even Japan. Those parts of the world are absolute fanatics and ridiculously crazy. We tend to have somewhat of a myopic view as Americans. I've seen Maiden in three different countries and the US is by far the tamest of the bunch. The influence they've had worldwide in pretty much unmatched in modern times and their catalogue is absolutely gigantic.
Plus, Bruce flies their own 747 (previously a 757) and that's just unbelievably absurd.
Than Maiden. None of the bands mentioned put out new music as good as they did back in the day. But their new stuff is better than the others. They still bring it live. Most people I know consider Maiden heavier than Metallica and think I’m “dark” for liking them. It’s odd.
I like the pivot so far.
Was hoping to catch rammstein next year too.

I’m anxious to hear the rest. Most of the songs are over six minutes.
Yeah, the Legacy of the Beast tour was awesome if that’s what you saw. I fucking love Maiden.

Can't wait. Best show I've ever seen was Montreal a couple years ago. Just ridiculous.

Yes. August 2019 at the Bell Centre. Completely mental.
