-Sign Booker early (first FA signing?) and some people thought they over payed?
-All comments from everyone with the team is non committal as to return. There are no week 1 proclimations.
I expect Barkley to be inactive the first few weeks of the season and can see him playing somewhere around week 3 or 4 to start. I don't have anything to base it on, it's just a hunch.

Some quick thoughts...
Grabbing Booker early in free agency is more of a clue that our GM still struggles with positional value, not that Saquon's return is openly at risk. Besides we needed another RB or two since they were letting Gallman walk, right?
And what kind of Week 1 proclamation are you suggesting the team release here in July? Saquon will be starting on Sept 12 or everybody gets a free NY key ring?

LOL - no expectations from the team to announce anything. The hunch is based on the giants historically being conservative with injuries, and that Saquon is a franchise player, so I expect them to always err on the cautious side vs. setting a deadline that he has to be ready week 1.
So does that mean we won't have to see any threads about moving
where the NYG would ever need to "set a deadline" with Saquon's recovery.
He will go to training camp and get ready for the upcoming season. Sometime before week 1, they will determine if he is ready to go or not. He could play, be inactive or even IR'd at that point.
What does an imposed deadline now achieve?
Anyone seen this picture of him recently? What the fuck has he
been doing in rehab? This dude is a mutant and I'm convinced if he can get healthy, we see him with a very long productive career. Don't think too many RB's are out-dedicating themselves over Saquon. AP was similar and was an excellent back for a long time. Just total dedication (diet, workout, etc).
section, was it his left that was the 2020 injury? If so I wouldn't be able to make out the surgical scars from the ripped calves and thighs creating shadow.
There are a few serious posts about concerns here also. Those are the ones I am replying to. I think it is way too early for any speculations about Barkley's availability. For example, their signings were done for insurance and also out of necessity knowing they were letting Gallman walk. Camp hasn't opened yet.
On one hand, there have been some optimism generating videos of him training. On the other hand, those are of him running and lifting in a controlled environment. Bottom line...we'll see.
Put more muscle on....lighten the bones to go faster... and you'll get breakdowns of very fast, fit and strong players..
It's my Secretariat theory and everytime I being it up it meets stern criticism. But the human frame can only hold a finite amount of muscle; only resist so much torque and stress.
In Gifford's day guys played both ways and didn't break down. Now they're platooned, rotated, hydrated and rested,,,and they break down.
I, for one, and as counter-intuitive as it sounds, wish Saquon wasn't so dedicated, weighed a little less, ran a little slower, and benched a little less.
it isn’t anything new. what you don’t understand (or do but maybe don’t give enough credence to) is that most players that aren’t good enough without being freak athletes with freak bodies. Outside of QB and some lineman, what position features a slew of guys that aren’t upper echelon athletically?
They are competing against other freaks, they are going to do everything they can to gain an edge. Being less muscular likely doesn’t help them gain that edge - longevity maybe but that might not matter if you aren’t top tier anymore.
Finally, medicine is great and tearing an ACL is no longer a death sentence. It’s really not a big deal anymore and because of that these guys aren’t going to take their foot off the gas.
But Saquon is the elite among the elite.
And I think making him faster and stronger dramatically increases the risk factor.
Steroids, advanced weight training , HGH we are producing 250 lbs of muscle on sinews, joints and bones meant to support 200 lbs. Now you take uncanny acceleration and wrenching almost superhuman cuts. To me Bo Jackson's talent was as much curse as blessing. And I worry that this kid is in that class - exceeding human capabilities....with consequences.
And modern medicine, as much as its improved, hasn't kept him on the field so far.
But with regard to the posters statement early that there is plenty of time to decide, they really have two weeks before they have to make a call on whether he is active pup or not. If they they he is ready to practice then it’s a no brainer but if there is a chance that he misses first 4 games that’s probably a roster spot they may want to hold on to. Once again covid may have rendered that moot.
Dave, his soul should be injured after getting manhandled by a boy.

I think he could modify his game and still be great.
But just an opinion..
