Deion Sanders has gone by many names during his Hall of Fame NFL career, but now he just wants to be called "Coach." Sanders, entering his second season as head coach of Jackson State, made that clear at Tuesday's Southwestern Athletic Conference media day event after he was addressed as "Deion" by a reporter for a second time. "You don't call [Alabama's] Nick Saban, 'Nick.' Don't call me Deion," Sanders told a reporter from the Clarion Ledger, referencing the seven-time national champion head coach... |
Same with the media calling owners "Mr." as players and coaches within the organization do.
If the players (say QB) who are benefitting are smart they don't forget the big guys up front doing the dirty work.
College sports did this by getting greedy and it benefitted just a few imo.
One benefit I see is it will give players (less talented who have no pro future) to develop entrepreneurial skills which can set them on a good path after graduating.
Which, coincidentally, will be the name of Jeff Bezos' new rocket ship.
That’s fine. How about he simply asks them to call him that? Why’s he got to be a pompous prick about it? These reporters don’t play for him. If he wants respect, how about he shows some damn respect back?
Jim: Hey, Andy. How are you, man?
Andy: Good. Drew.
Jim: What's that?
Andy: You can call me Drew.
Jim: No, I'm not gonna call you that.
Andy: Cool. I can't control what you do. I can only control what I do.
Jim: Andy.
Andy: Drew.
