But the article seemed focused on making sure everyone knows the writer was allowed to spend 2 1/2 hours alone with Jones.
"I ate dinner with a cool guy who girls like, see I'm not a total loser" by Pat Leonard.
There's absolutely nothing noteworthy in the entire article. Daniel Jones is focused and dedicated to getting better, and sometimes he'll go out for an overcooked filet.
So our QB is a nice guy who over analysis everything and eats steak for dinner. And who the hell doesn't eat the Mac & Cheese? That's a HUGE red flag! Burn him Burn him! He's a witch!
Sure its a fluff piece. But at this time of year, a pleasant diversion and a little confirming peek into his character. Not everything written is going to be an in depth analysis or revelation of secrets.

It's for the Daily News crowd. It's a human interest angle story, not a football one. He's not breaking down X's and O's, strategies and game plans. But there are plenty of casual and not so casual football fans who want to know who the Giants' QB is as a person. He's a quiet guy, not flashy, hard to know, sow hat's he like? It serves a purpose, just not one that hardcore fans care too much about.
Geez...now BBI has got me defending Pat Leonard...
the Bat Signal pierces the morning fog, Captain Sunshine has arrived.....
Please tell me that you see the irony in posting about a bat signal 2 minutes after the first bw / go Terps post on the thread?
Irony? As in the Alanis Morrisette type that isn't really ironic? Or, the observation that particular posters will show up to shit on any Daniel Jones thread that is created.

BTW, if "medium" is overcooked, you pay way too much attention to what other people eat. (I would never eat red meat at anything less than medium).
Also, I pass on Mac n Cheese unless my wife makes it from scratch, so thumbs up DJ.
Don't know the writer, don't have a personal opinion.
I think it's likely that everyone is triggered and/or sensitive about something that other people are not, which leads into criticism of being too sensitive or triggered.
Pat Leonard is routinely criticized on this site as a hack. His articles almost always trigger responses like — “click bate, don’t give him the views.”
So now he makes a sloppy attempt at new journalism, and it’s a nice article?
Fuck that noise. The article is terrible. Just call it Daniel Jones Has a Steak, and let’s get on to some reporting about football please.
Justlurking also feels the article is useless while knowing that civil conversation regarding the qb of the Ny Giants is rare (hi Eli!), So the OP's curiosity led him to wonder how quickly the thread would go off the rails.
how often do we see articles on players that have not yet proven anything in the league unless they have an interesting personal story to get to the NFL or they are doing something impactful in the community?
Unfortunately there is too much coverage of the Giants that feels like it is being forced to make the team look more competent than they are. Like hey! Look at what a great guy Daniel Jones is, weren't we smart to draft him? Then if it doesn't work out they can act like they had every reason to pick him because of the articles they likely pushed themselves.
It honestly makes me even more skeptical because they have for a while seemed more interested in the optics than just showing up on the field.
If DJ gets to be a pro bowler, tell me all day long about how he likes his toast. There is so much weird virtue signaling and planting of ideas in that article. I don't care if he goes out drinking every night if he shows up on the field. They've got it all wrong.
He should get all the credit in the world if it pays off and he tirelessly honed his craft. But it is so odd and off-putting the extent that the Giants seem to want to go to act like it would just be bad luck to an exemplar human if he doesn't make it. As many have pointed out, his issues in the NFL are the same issues he's had.
The Giants and him deserve all the credit in the world if he can fix these things. Really they do, no joke. Nothing more impressive than seeing someone's potential when others don't see it as much. But that doesn't in any way shape or form change the fact that this team would be a contender right now with Josh Allen or Justin Herbert at the helm. And Jones had many more question marks than other players drafted in the same range as him. No amount of messaging about what a great person and worker he is should overshadow that.
Not convincing Pat.
Seems he is trying to promote himself as a writer and as someone Jones should always talk to. Fine.
And I think we all get it. If being a great NFL QB was all based on what kind of person you are, how selfless and hardworking...DJ would be an elite NFL QB. Unfortunately, other traits go into it and DJ has yet to prove he's got everything it takes.
We should be very happy and secure about the man we have as our QB but still uneasy about the player.
What I heard reading that is:
(1)look at me me
(2)I'm cool
(3)I ate a steak dinner in a good steakhouse all by myself with Daniel Jones
(4)and, I was nice to him so he told me a lot of inside stuff I can't talk about
(5)so I'm really cool
BTW, if "medium" is overcooked, you pay way too much attention to what other people eat. (I would never eat red meat at anything less than medium).

Lol the mac n' cheese thing is weird. Poor field awareness, you gotta audible out of that mac n' cheese before it hits your table.
Of course. He already hit the tuna tartare appetizer, and then they added brussel sprouts and mashed potatoes to accompany the steak. Not against mac n cheese whatsoever but enough was enough at that point and Jones needed to call the ball there.
And the difference between a medium and a medium rare steak is actually huge. The medium rare crowd knows what they are doing...
Sure its a fluff piece. But at this time of year, a pleasant diversion and a little confirming peek into his character. Not everything written is going to be an in depth analysis or revelation of secrets.
Seriously. Article was about how driven to succeed he is and how impressed Leonard was with his presence. That’s what i took from it. I think he makes the leap if Garrett can bring some offensive concepts from this century to the offense.

No, I mean the irony of you sitting and waiting to complain about someone sitting and waiting to complain about something.

I agree Mike, I enjoyed the article
What a waste of words to fill a column.
Wait, there will be more to come.

I agree with that. Well, actually I didn't think it was THAT bad, but I'm definitely not a fan of his writing style.

DJ will be fine in 2021.
Go Giants!
You're welcome, Eric from BBI.
Seriously, did you even read that article?
I don't know how any one can read that and not think afterwards - 'What a complete waste of five minutes of my life...'
Hahaha
There's better Flava Flav pics than that.
You're welcome, Eric from BBI.
Lol, okay, that's fair.
