For me it was my 1967 Aqua Blue Mustang. Looked bad ass but was a little 3 speed 200 engine.

I guess ... my first car. Sold it quickly and didn't think about it. It would be off the road by now if I kept driving it but would be funny to have it in a private garage somewhere. Sold it in summer of 2008.

I used to buy and sell vintage road bikes. I always had my eye on classic 60s/70s english bikes. Raleigh/Carlton, Holdsworth were my favs. I came across a 1971 Holdsworth Professional at my local non profit bike co-op. First time I had ever seen one in person. This was one of the top of the line Holdsworths back in 1971. It was in my size or so I thought (6'3", 230) so I gladly paid the discounted price. I spent the next year cleaning/tuning and replacing with period correct parts. When it finally came time to start riding her, it became obvious that it was just too small for me. No amount of adjustments can really make up for a bike that's just too small.

I ended up selling her later that summer, at least I recouped all of the money I spent on her.

Still stings everytime I see one.

too much to name

i was raised mostly by a single mother and we'd move from apartment to apartment often, seemed like every year from 12 to 19 when I was moved out on my own I lived a new place every year and with every move more stuff was tossed. On my own I moved every year too, so until I moved to DC in 1995 I probably lived 13 different places in 13 years. I don't own anything from my childhood.

but when I was 6 or 7 my 13/14 year old cousin gave me his baseball card collection - this included Mantle, Mays Aaron, Ryan, Banks, Gibson etc. - baseball cards from peak vintage era. I was obviously too young for it but I left them all out in the rain and they were ruined.

still haunts me, only solace I take is with all the moves I made and how little money I ever had they would not have been in good condition anyway.
Ha, my brother and I had

shoeboxes of baseball cards...I remember tossing them because they took up room in my desk. Even my mother was wondering what the heck I was doing - talking cards from the 60s.

My collection of baseball cards, 1967-70.

mfsd : 7/22/2021 2:53 pm : link
every comic book appearance of Iron Man, starting with his first appearance in Tales of Suspense #39 from 1959.

Sold the whole lot to a collector for about $900 to fund a spring break trip in college back in 92.

That trip was a blast, but Tales of Suspense 39 is now valued between $10,000 and $20,000+ depending on condition (mine was good, not great), and my whole collection would probably be worth maybe $15-$25K.

Wish I could have that one back, and have just opened one of those high rate credit cards they push on college kids to pay for the trip like everyone else did

Also, I had a collection of Magic the Gathering cards from early teen years. I sold these for about $1500 in the early 2000s for rent money. It would easily be worth 50k today. Probably more like 70k.

My mother got me (age 8 at the time) and my brother (6) a sealed box of 86-87 Fleer basketball cards. If we only had a clue back then...

Other than that, I wish I still had my baseball card collection and my first drumset - both for the sake of nostalgia. I also regret selling my MicroKorg XL synth a few years ago and some other pieces of music gear throughout the years.

She got rid of my and my brother's comic collection for pennies on the dollar. They included the First Avengers intro of Vision, the 1st Wolverine, and a Fantastic 4 that had them fighting Dr. Doom and the Sub-Mariner. Those 3 alone are worth about 30K. let alone 5 nice sized boxes of comics from the 60's to the early 80's.

We figured about 42K worth of a comic collection she sold for $200

My dad had a Babe Ruth autographed baseball. When I was a tot, maybe 5-6 years old, they let me take it out in the yard and play with it. I left it in the yard. We never saw it again.

That's more on my parents than me, but damn.

for like nothing. I forget how. I had a friend who traded it to me for peanuts.

I needed a car and I sold the Tele to buy the car. That car has been in a junk heap and/or recycled since like 1978. The Tele would be worth $5k today, not that I would sell it now that I don't need the money to buy a car. LOL.
A couple things I wish I still had

I had a ton of baseball cards from the 60's & early 70's, and I also had a huge collection of Matchbox Cars from the 60's and early 70's.

Somehow after I left for college they mostly disappeared. My parents never remembered anything. I'm guessing possibly the cards may have been accidentally tossed when my old room got turned into a "study" because a ton of my old things were gone.

Yeah, they wouldn't have purposely thrown out something they knew I wanted, but like you said it probably all looked like old junk when they were cleaning it out. I teased them about it occasionally, but I never got angry about it.

My dad gave me his old Lecoultre Memovox wrist watch. Self winding automatic with alarm circa mid to late 1950’s. I didn’t keep the original box and paperwork that came with it. Also lost the original buckle to the band that had the LeCoultre mark, presumably when I changed straps. I love the watch and still wear it and it inspired to purchase a couple of other vintage LeCoultres. Still pissed I didn’t keep the box and especially the buckle!

My 1969 Chevrolet Camaro SS 396 with factory ram air. Bought it brand new. Beat the piss out of almost everything I raced, and what I didn't beat was way out of my league. A major POS as a car if there ever was one but worth a ton of money now. I'd sell it.

My 1972 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme W-31. Best car I've ever owned. I'd keep it as my daily driver again.

Many, many Arctic Cat, Ski-doo and Polaris snowmobiles and ATVs. At least one of my Suzuki ATVs, the black King Quad.
