Monty vs. Houck
On paper a mismatch.....but they don't play these games on paper.
I want to know why they had Green throwing low fastballs. That is not how he pitches and it sure looked that was where Brantley was calling for them.
Great question
Quote:
for not walking him to set up a double play or even walking the bases loaded with one out?
Great question
There is none. He should be fired before he gets to address the media. He is a colossal idiot
Ok...linked with prdave73 -his brother?
Never... They guys are clowns. In their minds Green is the best pitcher in the MLB..
How do you not get Papa Smurf out of the game for Sanchez with two on against a lefty in the fifth?
It's a joke at this point. Poon has NO feel for the game, no awareness, and he's a giant festering pussy listening to Cashman and his analytics pencil necked toilet stains.
You have your ace going tomorrow. Cessa had five pitches. FIVE! And you bring in Green.
It's just despicable.
And Green sucks.
You leave the game up to Brooks Krispy? Fuck you.
And win or lose, I absolutely hate the extra innings starting with a man on 2nd. That and 7 inning double headers.

Right??!!?! Brooks 10.50 era Kriske???!?!? smh..
What a joke.
They say they're "undermanned" - yet Cessa had 5 pitches. Circus shit.
Fuck. You. Trash.
Straight fastballs right down the fucking middle vs the Red Sox is a recipe for disaster, you fucking dipshit.
He's the weakest, most uninspiring chickenhawk manager I've ever seen in baseball. A lameduck loser. The excuses and subsequent YES ball-washing is unreal. I'm completely disgusted and sickened.
Fuck. You. Trash.
lol...
He ran into one in 2003. Fine. It was an awesome moment.
But let's not pretend that that doesn't give him a pass for some Yankees fans. And Cashman knows it, uses him as a buffer for criticism all while letting him take the heat for his own failures, roster construction and reliance on an analytic philosophy that hasn't won shit despite spending well over $200 Million a year and having every fucking resource at his disposal.
What an utter and complete failure - from a winning standpoint - this organization has been for over a decade.
And don't give me the "try being a fan of another team" bullshit. This team spends tons of money and resources on building a winner and they sell that to fans - unfortunately, it's only winning in the bank accounts of the Steinbrenners and not on the field.
ugly pattern with this team.
Very difficult to watch.
me too.
Pitched two nights in a row..Cashman, Boone and Blake will not allow relievers to throw 3 nights in a row..it is understandable.
Removing Cessa after 5 pitches was dumb, but it was the "plan" - can't deviate.
I am a Green fan, but people are right - he is a great set up guy, but no closer - similar to Betances.
However, I still do not get why he was throwing low in the zone. He smoked Verdugo and later Devers on high heat(his trade mark) - but was throwing low to everyone else. He had a fee guys set up for the high FB and then tried low and inside? Was that lack of control or the plan?
Analytics be damned, but stupidity be damned more.

Maybe that is why Brantley has been in the minors to 2 or 3 years? You are correct, he got the 1st batter with a nasty slider for the 1st out...

question is: what the fuck happened to Chapman?

Thanks, I read that after I posted about Chapman.
Love that modern philosophy of the "plan" :-) What a joke.
BP make up is fine. You do know that 2 or 3 guys on on the Covid IL, right? They really are winging it.

Sounds like it was a good idea for me to fall asleep last night.....oooof
There are still brown stains on the Fenway mound I believe. How many games can you blow in a season!
This once vaunted BP, has really taken in on the chin so far this season. Good effort wasted by Monty as well.
As soon as he came in, I said this is over. Boone thought he could get by with Kriske two nights in a row, not so fast...
Green is the veteran, you can't miss location when you are ahead in the count like that.
But he wont be fired because he's a puppet for Cashman and thats all Cashman wants.
Cashman has to go for any of this nonsense to change. The Yankees need an entirely new direction. This team is on a path to no where, and it's not going to change unless Cashman is shown the door and an outsider is brought in to change the culture and totally change the direction
Worst loss of the season, worse than the Mets or Phillies meltdowns due to who they were playing.

how Cashman can roll out these lineups and bullpens and keep a job is amazing.

Of course I do. The point I'm making regarding bullpens is that we sent a prospect to ditch Ottavino and now are probably going to send another to try and find someone at the deadline who's as good as Ottavino. The bullpen was a strength and Cash got cute and now we get to watch Nick Nelson and company.

Ottavino? It was Ottavino that the Yanks destroyed last night. Everyone needs to get off the Ottavino train. He is no better than what they have. He was good for 4 months in 2019 then shit the bed.
Loaisiga will be back, maybe tonight. Britton is just off the IL and working on control. I do not know what is up with Chapman, maybe it is as simple as that fingernail. They have Abreu who looks the part. They don't need to get relievers.
Severino should be back soonish...
I'll never understand why a team with the resources that the Yankees have can't develop pitchers. I can name the pitchers that have become above average MLBers on Cashman's watch in the past 15 years on one hand.
So many talented arms and the Yankees can't even find a few relievers from their draft choices and farm system. Every young pitcher that comes up gets yo yo'd back and forth and shits the bed.
Some pitchers do well once they're away from the Yankees. What is the problem? Micro management? Too much tension and pressure in the clubhouse? I don't understand.

be it a Yes employee, a columnist in NY who covers the Yanks, or even a major sports outlet going to finally call out the management of this team for what it is. As mad as I am at Cashman, Boone, and the rest of them...I'm fucking ROYALLY pissed that no one in the post game interviews don't call them out. I'd flat out tell Boone that if he really thought that Greene was throwing "good pitches" in the 9th, then he was either sleeping, out of his mind, or doesn't know baseball. I'd also start calling out the myriad of failed "analytics" inspired moves that have been made all fucking year. Enough is enough already.
Michael Kay has been calling kit Cashman, saying this is a terribly constructed team, for weeks.
Glad to hear that. I generally listen on Sirius radio or watch when it's nationally televised so I don't hear Kay often. Sterling dances around the issues... Doesn't overtly question anything.

not on YES games. I've heard him do that on his radio show, but not on games.
At least this one happened as he was headed out of town and off the freakin roster…
I have shared it many times I am not a fan of Boone and his game management. My biggest beef last night is him not letting Cessa have a shot to finish after getting through the previous inning on a handful of pitches.
On Kriske..well Boone really had no one else he could give the ball as Chapman & Britton were not available. Kiske did not handle the pressure cooker well and the Yanks blew yet another important game. Fist game of a key series like this is big. I am hoping for a split and then they take two out of three from Tampa none of which will be easy being so short handed.
I also would prefer they not trade away young talent ..overpay for and outfielder. Just live with what they have and hope Severino, Kluber and Schmidt all come back and make a difference. Yanks get on a hot stretch and perhaps the Ray and Sox split games against each other.Last night sucked it really did.... too many times this year I have awoken thing that..

Imagine Billy Martin having to deal with Britton and Chapman being "non available" because they pitched recently in the most important game to date this season. Just what in the fuck are they saving them for?
