Monty vs. Houck
On paper a mismatch.....but they don't play these games on paper.
But I see r,l,r,l in the order
trying to get in as a wild card?
You mustn't have been around for the early 70s,lol.
And it's now 29 straight innings, I believe, that the Yanks have not scored for Monty
But yes, I've been spoiled with some great lineups. I think 2000 was the best one I've seen. That lineup was such a nightmare for pitchers, they just waited you out.

Ha - the early 70s were actually better than 1966. In 1966 the Yanks finished *last* in a 10-team league. You can look it up. The ghosts of Mantle, Maris, Howard and Boyer were still getting major playing time but were pretty much awful. The only big bat in the lineup was Joe Pepitone.

Yep. I was only 4. I really started watching around 9 years old and I couldn't believe that they used to win all the time like my dad and uncles told me. My grandfather died two years ago at 104. He was alive for every single Yankees championship. Imagine that.
You and I must be 10 years apart in age. The first Yankees excitement I can recall was the 1958 World Series, which the Yankees won 4 games to 3 over the Milwaukee Braves. Then, in '59, the White Sox won the pennant which was a shock as I think the Yanks had won pretty much every other pennant in the '50s. Then we won the pennant again in every year 1960 through '64 (although not the World Series in '63 or '64). Then the wheels came completely off, and as mentioned by 1966 the Yankees were last in a 10-team league. Things didn't come back until the '76 and '77 seasons and Chris Chambliss' home run.
That's amazing about your grandfather.
You have a righty hitter in Sanchez vs a lefty in Fenway. All hands on deck. I'm making that move.
But the question is - how does a guy make MLB or AAA and not know how to make a proper throw. We all effin knew how to get just behind the ball and be moving toward the base or plate when making the catch and throw?
If you're going to roll Sam Romano and Lucas Leutge, you need to at the very Fucking least get Papa Smurf out of the game in a high leverage situation vs a lefty.
But Poon will Poon.
Love the Odor bunt. That was a beauty.
Renfroe bobbled that ball and almost dropped it...too bad
Sure why not? Got through the tough part of the order already.
It was 5 pitches, dopey.
Unrelated, but my friend's son just got a wrestling scholarship to UVA and signed. He's a great kid and totally out of his mind to get to Charlottesville. The head coach really worked to get him and it panned out. Great guy.
The analytics must say something about Green starting an inning or something.
Cessa threw five pitches.
I guess we'll roll the dice.
I getting there. His arm is not that strong and he is loose with his glove and just cannot hit....

Yeah, after that pitching by Cessa, I'd have leaned toward letting him stay in. He is the "long" reliever, so no problem coming back out.
He is still throwing too low...1 out to go
