FranknWeezer : 7/22/2021 6:01 pm
Anybody know what the deal is with Peart and a back issue?

The actual injuries …

Barkley (knee)
Harrison (hamstring)
Peart (back)
Rudolph (foot)
Ximines (hamstring)
Robinson (core muscle)

Giants players that will start on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list. It means they’re not ready to practice because of football injuries.

RB Saquon Barkley
TE Kyle Rudolph
C Jonotthan Harrison
OT Matt Peart
CB Aaron Robinson
OLB Oshane Ximines
And so it begins

Don't read too much into this.

Now is the time to put a player on the PUP. If a player starts on the PUP they can be taken off at any point. If they don't start on the PUP then they cannot be added later unless they miss the first 6 weeks of the season or something like that. I bet someone would be put on the PUP list with an ingrown hair.

Giants placed OLB Ryan Anderson (back) and RB Sandro Platzgummer (hammy) on the Reserve/NFI, and RB Taquan Mizzell (hammy) on IR
Every team in the league has guys on PUP

It’s not worth getting worked up about. We’ll have injuries and so will other teams. It’s always a factor. We can hope it doesn’t turn into a disaster like it did in TCs last years but there is nothing we can do about it.

worried about the PUP if they are on it in mid-August.

These guys are not even practicing until next week.

So it's not worth discussing if anyone knew our presumptive starter at RT had some sort of back condition, going into training camp? Ain't like there's all that much footall content to discuss before camp reports start to come out...

Entire OL playing every snap to get comfortable, get familiar, get ready.

Minimize it.....but it still sucks

Ximines us interesting

shoulder injury last year did him in. He needs reps,
That can't possibly be right.

Grizz told us that Matt Peart is the second coming of Jonathan Ogden.
my guess

is Taquan Mizzell is not long for the roster if he was put on IR and not the PUP. Injury settlement looming? (I believe he was out most of the spring too).

What is there to discuss? We don't know anything about the injury.
It is discussed
mpinmaine : 7/22/2021 9:54 pm : link
because he is a projected starter on the line that wasn't addressed big time in the off season

At the NFL level, in two years, Mizell has a total of 16 yards rushing in 9 attempts. Not sure why the Giants signed him. I'm more concerned about Platzgummer in that I'd like to see what he can do against NFL competition.
I really like Ximines pass rush ability
Breeze_94 : 7/23/2021 1:34 am : link
I see some Jerry Hughes DPR ability in his game...but the guy can't stay healthy..

Wasn't addressed? Rob Sale was hired as offensive line coach, pat Flaherty was hired as well. The giants signed Zack Fulton, brought back Nate Solder on a restructured deal. Nevermind how much investment was already made in the last couple of years.
Nice to see Lorenzo Carter

NOT on the PUP list after suffering a tough injury to come back from. I am rooting for him to make an impact this year.

Plus they signed another RB this week, which may have something to do with it.
A Back injury for an OL is concerning
Rudy5757 : 7/23/2021 10:13 am : link
regardless of when it happens, the back is tricky. Now we don't know the extent of the injury but its not a good start to training camp to have one of the guys that has a big question mark coming into the season have an injury that could cause him to miss time.

My biggest concern with this team has been the OL.

True BUT, if we are going to have an injury to the OL I would rather it be now and give us time to add if needed. However, I am not overly concerned here on this. It doesn't mean much at the moment.

Yea I agree with this. People bug out because Toney has covid but our starting right tackle who already is a huge question mark has an unknown back injury isn’t a big deal?

It’s definitely not ideal and worrisome.
Whatevere the injury
csh2z : 7/23/2021 3:59 pm : link
it is only unknown to us fans, the team Drs. are on it. I'm sure it is nothing significant or he would be on IR
Sucks to hear about Peart.
Klaatu : 7/24/2021 10:21 am : link
He was good-to-go at the OTA's, so this must be something that flared up very recently. Hope it's not too serious, but with backs you never know.

But now we know why Robinson didn't do much in the Spring. That sucks, too. Core muscle...it's the kind of thing that can linger.

Barkley and Rudolph...I expected them to be limited at best, so PUP doesn't seem too bad.

Harrison out leaves the door open for Heggie to show that he's more than just a PS candidate...a Jim Cordle 2.0.
Oh, I forgot about Ximines...
Klaatu : 7/24/2021 10:22 am : link
But then he's easily forgettable.
What...Matt Peart hurt his back?
Jimmy Googs : 7/24/2021 11:00 am : link
Grizz - get Jonathan Ogden on the phone and coax him out of retirement!
I'll worry a week into camp if these guys aren't practicing
SGMen : 7/24/2021 3:32 pm : link
I too am geeked about Peart but it can be a twinge and he'll be fine. We just don't know yet.
