Making the playoffs as a wild card and inevitably losing either in the 1 game playoff or 1st round will do nothing to help the Yanks going forward.
I'm not sure Hal will make wholesale changes this off-season, but the only chance of it happening is the Yankees winning 85 games and missing the playoffs.
If they get to the playoffs and lose he'll use the "it's a crapshoot" excuse to bring everyone back.

Each and every day. We just can not develop talent within our system. As we watch the Sox, Jays and TB do so. All of the so called future stars have missed the mark or are average at best. Then we cover our tracks by holding onto hope that one day soon these misses will hit their mark. But it never happens. That’s why we are almost double digits down in the standings before the end of July. Please stop blaming injuries as the reason for such poor play. We just are an average team based upon proven talent. Not sure if we have the balls to make the necessary changes at this point but what we’re doing now is just insane.
