Just Ugh.
What’s next? Below the knee amputation?

Per Mojo Hill: Luis Rojas said he had no idea what happened with David Peterson until after the game and he saw him wearing a boot. It was then that Rojas learned the story of what happened. "He was walking back to the clubhouse and he felt a pop in his right foot," Rojas said.

Totally missed the news on Peterson during vacation. Did he have another injury? Is he down for the year?
Monday doubleheader, rather.

Broke his foot "Walking" according to Rojas. Yes, he's done for the year. Will have surgery.

Who is pitching tomorrow besides Hill?
Monday doubleheader, rather.
Stroman is confirmed. My guess is the second is a bullpen game headed by Banda and others.
My question is who is starting Tuesday....
We are pitching these past their usual capabilities, I hate this bc Nogosek pitched his heart out. MLB needs to expand the rosters for playoffs

Holy shit! I guess he was down through August with the oblique but that is not ideal, obviously. Megill has just been as good a surprise as I can recall. Believe he was #27 on our prospect list entering the year.
Well, Hill should help. Obviously Carrasco in a couple of weeks or so will help. Haven’t heard anything about Syndergaard even throwing since he was shut down two months ago, so I think they are going to have to pony up for a real starter. I’d chase Berrios here. Stroman and Thor are FA’s after this year and getting Berrios and extending him would be a perfect move for our needs right now, IMO.
Amazed at how well the starters have stuck together with all the injury issues. Big game for Walker tonight, IMO.

Megill wont pitch on 3 days rest. deGrom is going to have to do a rehab assignment per Rojas so its not him. I dont think we can do back to back bullpen games. All I can think of is another trade. Or maybe signing Eickhoff back or something like that.
I know you talked about your own experience. But did you have a professional medical staff giving you liquids, perhaps an IV?
On this level, when you've now had two days of rest, and should have had extensive hydrattion therapy and muscle therapy, to include stretching and possible massage, you have to be ready to play. To me, even the one Thursday day off should've been all that was needed. I respect you and your experience, but come on. Unless this is a minor strain/pull, this seems excessive. Given the org's history of misinformation or lack of information concerning injuries, and McNeil's earlier hamstring injury, this is concerning to me.
Perhaps this is the org being extremely over-cautios, which would also play to their reputation. But if they were being truthful on it just being muscle fatigue, with their medical resources they should have McNeil ready to play tonight. This is a pennant race, he's swinging a hot bat, and we need him in the lineup.
Luckily, its not too bad and he must be day to day... but the "fatigue" story is almost certainly BS.

only reason i put mcgill there is he only thru 78pitches yesterday.

Totally agree
Met should not be buyers (other than deals like Rich Hill - make those all day long), just roll with this roster.

thats not gonna happen
As long as JDG has a pulse this team has a chance against anyone.
I wouldn't give up meaningful assets with that unknown.

in the last several deadlines nobody has had to give up meaningful assets for rentals. and plenty of good players have been added just by taking on $.

Sources: Twins have scouts at the St. Lucie Mets game tonight.
Mets have shown interest in multiple Twins players: José Berríos, Josh Donaldson, and Taylor Rogers.

One name I’ve heard the Twins have monitored is Mets right-handed pitching prospect Junior Santos.
The 19-year-old has pitched better recently and hit 97 mph in his last outing.

One team that talked to the Twins about José Berríos recently believed it would take a “massive haul” to get him.
4-for-4, 2 2B, HR, BB, 6 RBI
Maybe's he's figuring it out?
Cortes was 1/3 with 3 rbis and 2 walks hitting leadoff.
Baty had what looks like a break out game going 4/4 with 6 rbis and coming up just a triple shy of a cycle (had 2 doubles and a homer).
Vientos was 1/4 with 2 rbis and a walk.
Kind of crazy how we started the year without much of anything at the upper levels of the minors and now we've got those 3 plus Lee doing well in AAA (although he went 0 for 4 today with 3 k's and 7 LOB).
Maybe's he's figuring it out?
I think the rest over the ASB probably helped him. It seems like his stuff can be good enough once in a while but not consistently. I really think he should try converting to the BP to see if less overall innings allows his stuff to play up more frequently.

Allstar, my debate with you hinged on whether leg fatigue is a concern enough to hold a player out, If you are insinuating that its more about the Mets not being forthcoming on a more serious injury with McNeil then I dont disagree.
regardless, all good man.
