in my parents' house and found a Dave Jennings autographed photo in a sleeve, which I now have to get framed. Nice surprise.

There's tons of good stuff inside the media guides, yearbooks and game programs. I could spend a whole weekend scanning and posting from them all. The coaching staff the Giants had then was rediculous, the names and faces jump off the page at you.
Still remember nearly every detail of that season

Love it. Ty.
Such great stuff, larry, thank you much!

NFC Championship 49ers game was so gut wrenchingly tense, hard fought, every play seemed it could spell defeat or hanging on just for a slim chance at a win.

If I'm recalling this right, the run call for Craig that LT blew up for the fumble and game winning change of possession was a head scratcher. I think they ran Craig wide instead of a safe OT carry buried in bodies that would just burn time off the clock.

And Montana left the game because of MarshallonMontana, no? Wonder what happened to that poster.

They ran Craig up the middle, Erik Howard made a move to get behind the guard's shoulder by dropping to one knee and as he came up he planted the crown of his helmet on the ball to pop it out into LT's hands.

Years later one of the 49ers (it may have been Bill romanowski but I'm not 100% positive) said he wished they would have bendched Craig after the 25-yard catch by Brent Jones (who had a bad year in 1990) and gone with a two-TE set and just handed the ball to Tom Rathman over and over to run the clock out.

Meant to say Craig had the bad year in 1990, not Jones.
^ thanks, I stand corrected

it was such a mind-blowing turn of events, game changing that led to season-defining, bit of magic to that Parcells team, different from the dominance of '86

He was a Giants front office guy going back to the late 1940s. He had ties to Wellington from Fordham I believe. He had the title of GM until Andy Robustelli took over the football operation position in 1974, then Walsh had another title and he was basically a contracts guy and no longer involved in personnel. Jim Lee Howell's name is on that trophy too. Although his role was reduced he was still involved somewhat in scouting.
I'll make a point of going into that media guide and scan

the coaches and front office people. There are a lot of good ones in there.
