I think a lot of people agree with that. But instead of guts I'll go with skill. Who would he hire? He's never hired a baseball person in his life. Has anyone else noticed that Hal sounds a lot more like Larry David's George than the real George did?
with big leads and an above average bullpen is a manager who just watches guys give up hit after hit and doesn’t make a move until it’s already too late.
And keeping an eye on the post count for this thread. It was really slow, then skyrocketed. I knew German either got the no hitter or they blew the game.
Cash would rather watch a manager cost them games than admit that he was wrong.
Keeping Cashman makes no sense. The guy is awful. He basically starts every year with a playoff team based on resources and one time in 20 years won the World Series. He has made it once in 17 years. That is disgraceful. Don’t give me 98-00 championship teams either, because anyone with any understanding of how the Yankees worked knew that Stick and Steinbrenner (when he came back from exile) we’re making all those calls. I am all for getting rid of Boone, but Broone without Cashman is a half measure band-aid that makes no sense. Brian Cashman is not very good at his job and the last 20 years shows it.
This is not a team that will win in the postseason, the sooner that
Again, nobody has as much invested in the team as us the fans. Hal counts his millions upon millions af the end of the year. Cashman gets 5M and has people all over making excuses for him. Stanton takes a hack and gets 13k deposited in his bank account.
Or should we simply start to celebrate a winning season now? Or a minor league with the highest winning percentage?
Good thing football training camp is just around the corner.
A couple weeks ago he used Loaisiga's pitch count as an excuse. Now he uses him two days in a row (18 pitches yesterday). AND he kept him in the game after the three batter minimum today.
And why is the infield back with Britton pitching lights out? Plawecki hits a weak grounder to SS to score a run. And he's worried about a bloop single against Britton? Wtf is he doing?
The guy just doesn't know what the fuck is going on out there. I don't have to be a major league manager to know what's the right move.
Poon is a serious serious impediment to winning games. Name me one instance this season where you were like, "Poon made the perfect move to win the game!"
You can't. The gap between him and a guy like Cora is massive. I can just picture Cora in the dugout going "Wtf is this clown doing?"
Stanton has sucked, and stuck for another 7 years with him watching him getting older, and slower.
All of those contracts stink. AROD’s, Stanton, even CC wasn’t nearly worth what we were paying him the last four or five years. Every time we bring someone in for big money, it almost always fails. Ellsbury, Pavano, need I go on. It is just not a good managed organization and we can get past the bad management with the brute force of a 200+ million payroll.
with big leads and an above average bullpen is a manager who just watches guys give up hit after hit and doesn’t make a move until it’s already too late.
You do realize that a pitcher has to face a minimum of 3 batters.

The larger point is that he left him in for another batter. It's just unreal. It's like he's trying to lose.
they snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.
Put a fork in this team, no playoffs, and hopefully no
Boone here next year. Why is Britton here, if not to be used
in a setup role? It shows the distrust Boone has in Britton
throwing strikes. Lasagna gives up four hits in a row,
then Boone says I'll bring in Zack now...Too late dumbass.

Did you watch the game? Lasagna gave up THREE hits and Boone left him in to give up a FOURTH. Instead of Britton entering the game with the tying run at the plate, he entered with the go ahead run already in scoring position.
The Yankees have blown more late 4+ run leads than anyone in baseball… more than double any other team.
Not defending Boone. It’s not his fault the players paid to do their job are not performing. Boone is just a puppet. Though I think Boone and Cashman need to go.

I did not know it, even though I wanted Loaisiga in the game, but he had just came off Covid IL and this was the 2nd game in a row he pitched in. Maybe this was too soon for two in a row?
I also remember when Green came in that he was pitching in his 40th game this year. I was thinking, damn 40 games already?
Cashman and the FO, Boone and the Coaches have to go.
Astros, Phillies, Boston twice, Mets,...compete bullpen meltdowns. Why is it that a pitcher(s) doesn't just 'not have it that night'...giving up a run or two but holding the 4-5 run lead. NO, they have to just throw batting practice barely getting an out. How does this happen? Doesn't a pitcher KNOW when warming up that they 'don't have it'?
I know hindsight is 20/20... But you have a day off following the game, why aren't two relievers up in the BP? You limited Cessa to 5 pitches in another game, mowing them down, but let Lasagna go two days in a row with many more pitches? German is flying through their lineup, gives up ONE hit, but you take him out?
What is this collection of fans missing? I know we have commented, questioned, bitched about this team virtually all season...but this crap keeps happening and you get the same Boone post game, Cashman and Hal hiding up in their luxury box, and the same result, snatching defeat from the jaws of victory, falling yet another game behind. The mistakes of high school level fundamentals are staggering. The time of 'relax, there are plenty of games left' is over. One extra player at deadline will not fix this team. Barring a major collapse by one or two other teams, this series iced it for me as far as optimism of making the playoffs.

You would think...in the new era with having to pitch to a minimum of 3 batters...that the onus on the bullpen coach to let the manager know emphatically if the reliever is going to be effective or not would be paramount. Otherwise, WTF is the need for a bullpen coach? And again, this silly fucking bullshit analytics that led Boone to not want to stretch German "much past 80 pitches". HE WAS FUCKING CRUISING!! YOU NEED THIS WIN!! The hit was a misplayed fly ball, for Pete's sake...let him PITCH! I'm sick of this bullshit
RE: Cashman and the FO, Boone and the Coaches have to go.
manager? Apparently he’s been on the payroll since 2005, holy cow is right….
The analytics dept probably figured out that Lasagna’s power sinker dips more on the second night of a back-to-back, so he needed to come in no matter what.
How soon before ticket buying fans are told to stay home and delivered a virtual goggle…
The Red Sox are on track for 99 wins = 1,929m per win
Tampa Rays 40-Man Tax Payroll:
$74,661,520
The Rays are on track for 97 wins = $770K per win
The Blue Jays 40-Man Tax Payroll:
$141,330,675
The Blue Jays are on track for 83 wins = 1,702m per win
New York Yankees 40-Man Tax Payroll:
$191,170,828
The Yankees are on track for 84 wins = 2,275m per win
Chapman 17m, Britton 13m, Wilson 3m, Green 2m, O-Day 2m = almost 50% of the entire Rays 40 man tax payroll. 5 relief pitchers in an exploding bullpen. Britton, Wilson & O-Day (who is probably done for the year) have pitched 35 innings total this season.
Not exactly payroll efficiency. There is zero accountability for anything on the field from the top down. There are no repercussions from ownership regarding the front office for players making 100's of millions of dollars that don't play anywhere near their paychecks or that don't even get on the field.
The entire on field baseball operation is being run out of the front office. Cashman/Fishman and group make the payroll decisions and build the roster. The field Mgr just follows orders.
Between Girardi and Boone there has been no on the field personality or performance difference, there has been no difference in "resting" players or deploying the bullpen and as people they couldn't be more opposite. One of us may as well manage the team at this point nothing would change. How can we expect guys to be benched or disciplined for not knowing how many outs there are when they're on 1B or getting picked off 2B when the Mgr. doesn't have any authority?
The Yankees organizational philosophy and strategies seem out dated, out of touch, stale and rotting from the head not the tail. If the ownership thinks changing the Mgr. and doing the same thing over and over with the same front office will produce different results they're insane.
1. We said the same thing about A-Rod and it was true. K's in the important AB and gets a hit with the bases empty.
2. There is a cause and affect here. The Yankees have a lot of 3 outcome hitters. Pitchers and catchers work them differently in high leverage ABs. The 2021 Yankees have this problem up and down their lineup. Stanton is just the most glaring example.
I doubt Gardner attempts to get to 3rd.
Yeah - close. Well gone in the Bronx..
He has had several last few games. he is worse than useless right now.
German is not stretched out...BP would not be a bad idea
Time to hold our breath...

That did not take long...
Funny, only guy I wanted in the game was Loaisiga
I mean, that's kinda what they do...
Can't even get a fucking out.
Absolutely..
This. But I really believe Hal doesn't have the guts to make the changes that need to be nade.
I'll take the Yankees BP over Boston any day of the week.

Can't say I'm not surprised.. Red sox have a bullpen, Yankees don't..
