Especially after he wasn't traded during the draft. None of these other options (retiring, holding out, etc.) would have gotten him what he wanted, IMO. I believe he can opt out of his deal after this upcoming season, so he will probably just do that.
I'm pretty sure he's not happy about this but it's his best way out of GB.

Reports are he's coming back for 2021. We don't know if that's as is, with a raise, with an en extension, etc. The direct quote from today was "we are committed to him for 2021 and beyond" so unless Murphy mis spoke, it sound like something could be in the works.
being worked on is to make this his last season in Green Bay. So basically he is looking at a TB type deal that works his contract out to a 1 year and done scenario.
If that is the case Rodgers would be a FA in 2022 and a LOT of teams will be looking at him.

That would make the most sense. However, GB may see the hand-off from Rodgers to Love the same way it worked from Favre to Rodgers. Be willing to wait four years, eat the cheapest part of Love's contract, and trust that he will be willing to go and blossom.
FUCKING ESTATIC??? I am. Jesus he holds the possibility of a top ten pick for us in his hands. I will root and worship his dominance of that division with everything I have lol!!

Nope, people are more concerned with making sure everyone knows they think a guy negotiating a contract is an asshole for doing so. It’s fucking bizarre.
Should this story hold true this is great for the league and the Giants.
Remember, he reported a few months ago that Rodgers would never play for the Packers again. How did we get from "Rodgers would never play for the Packers again" to "Rodgers is reporting to training camp this week?"
Schefter should have reported a few months ago that Rodgers was unhappy with his contract and he and the Packers were at an impasse, which is what it was
Schefter also botched the story about Russell Wilson
there was some friction between Wilson and Pete Carroll but not enough where Wilson wanted a trade out of Seattle, and ESPN reported at one point that Wilson wanted a trade
Some of you really don’t know wtf you’re talking about
How can one not come away from this thinking Rodgers isn't a drama queen? And yes, I agree it's good for the league-and especially us-he's returning to GB, but Woodley must be teaching him some acting lessons.
have every right to use their leverage as they see fit, especially when that player is a HOF franchise QB. The team will be profiting from #12 jerseys for decades to come. It's his prerogative to push for his preferred version of what playing time he has left. Rodgers wins because he's Rodgers, and fans should be happy.

Because we don’t know what happened. We also don’t know the terms of him coming back. If he’s a drama queen then so is every player that holds out.
I think we've seen a lot of holdouts that were less dramatic than this. This has been going on since their defeat to the Bucs & his commenting that it could be the end of the road for a lot of Packers, himself included. Then the social media stuff, his camp leaking/bashing the Packers FO, his comments about the Packers culture...
Again, I'm stoked he's back. Aaron, please beat the Bears twice. He's an incredible QB...no one would argue that. But he's shown his diva side a lot these past 6 months or so.
he didn’t write the headlines, he kept pretty quiet this entire time. He took all the jabs during the golf match too and pretty much said “we’ll see” which a BBI poster created a thread about. I’d call people giving these headlines momentum the true drama queens.
It comes down to people simply not liking him which is perfectly fine, wish people would just say it and be done with it.
I have no issue with Rodgers. None. Hell, I was rooting for him & GB the last two NFC title games. But you're being disingenuous if you say he had no part in how this all played out. The guy was posting photos from 'The Last Dance' less than a week ago!

I think any drama here associated with Rodgers is a result of the media's characterization of him...
The media might be at fault too, but it's not like Rodgers' hands are clean either. I think he-& his camp-handled this thing poorly from the jump. That's just my opinion.

I never said he had no part in how it played out, I said he’s been quiet this entire time and hasn’t been driving for attention like some claim. He never really spoke about this. It was all “leaked reports” by “insiders” or “sources”, some of which have been flat out wrong. And posting a Jordan photo? Come on. Can a bigger deal be made of this?
way too invested in personas created through the league, through the Media, or even through an individual's manipulation of situations.
It would be like hating a movie villain in real life or trying to say a heel professional wrestler is an ass while a good guy wrestler is a decent human.
There's already a thread going on with a couple guys throwing shade on Gregg Popovich saying he's an ass.
Football is a business and it is entertainment and players, teams and the Media manipulate the storylines to create certain narratives that may be true, but often are false. Making judgements about things reported or rumblings is usually a fools errand.
Heck, Rodgers himself rarely makes comments and when he does, they are sometimes made tongue-in-cheek and still blown out of proportion. Everyone wants drama and to make it seem like they have the pulse of what's really happening. Not really sure why.
Posting that Jordan photo & the unsubtle message that comes with it...Come on. He was being dramatic. It doesn't take away from him as a player-he's an all time great-but the dude definitely stoked the fire.
And I'd bet a ton of $ that he gave the OK-even if tacitly-to people in his inner circle to gab to the media about his unhappiness. Rodgers isn't a rube; he did go to Berkeley, though I don't believe he got his degree...something I can hold over him, Haha.
The media might be at fault too, but it's not like Rodgers' hands are clean either. I think he-& his camp-handled this thing poorly from the jump. That's just my opinion.
If you think about the chronology of events since Shefter broke his news about Rodgers during the draft, which was very shaky btw in hindsight, I can't think of anything that Rodgers said that was problematic.
Or are you suggesting that by not saying more Rodgers looks bad?

Right after their loss to TB, he hinted that he might not be a Packer this fall.
are taking place on a new contract. He supposedly arrived in GB. Of course if he can get it, good for him. I like him.
Guess improvements to the roster are not important when you are getting $40 mill + per season.

The roster stuff has been beaten to death. Outside of taking Love over an impact player the media and people in general really ran with this notion that Rodgers is demanding an all star team.
Or, it was always about long term security. I know which one makes the most sense.

I should have known it was $$ first even though he is making nearly $40 next two years, but he himself was the one that brought up the talent issue - which of course was BS because it is likely they win the SB if Bakhtiari is not hurt.
Put the best players in place to beat the Bears, every loss gets us aBears twice this year, the Lions and Minnessota crush them twice and they are 0-6 in the division.
Brian Baldinger rates the Packs' O line as 2nd behind the Browns
he dispelled a lot of rumors in that press conference (if you believe him, which i have no real reason not to). Sounds like Green Bay's management had no idea what they were doing, which was suspected all along.

Nobody wants to hear it, even though he pretty much spelled it out for people in his own words on interviews with McAfee. And then McAfee would pretty much, put the statement out that Aaron wanted immediately after. It's why McAfee is so popular with the players, he pretty much interviews them, and then he puts out the message that the players want right after in a bunch of maybes and hypotheticals.
I don't understand this idea about "shut up youre getting paid". Sure there should be perspective, but these guys are still human. Nobody wants to walk into work where there is such uncertainty about their living/work situation (because he'll certainly have to move if he's up and cut), especially when you are performing. Money is everything to some people and they rarely can see past it.
this board has been today on it today, haha. Shocking when the truth comes out and it’s not even remotely close to the ridiculous comments that I’ve been reading for months.

What came out today? I haven’t followed this.
30 minute press conference where he answered questions on what happened this off-season. Said it wasn’t about money, it was about being a lame duck and if they wanted to get rid of him to just go do it and both sides can move on.
I'm pretty sure he's not happy about this but it's his best way out of GB.

As I am sure is the case with almost everyone here this is the only reason why I cared about him returning to GB this season.
What a tool...
Nickname him "COVID".

That would be a helluva gamble...
I wasn't aware the Bulls "Last Dance" ended in the conference championship game, like the Packers has the last two seasons.

Narcissistic drama queen?? Lol ok then.

Don’t get it at all. Off the field Rodgers is one of the most quiet mega stars of all time. Doesn’t compute with me.
Ha! You’re right, exactly like Favre. Must be something in the water up there. Anyway, beat the Bears Aaron.

Well apparently Rodgers is upset that the Packers don’t have the talent to win it all, so what’s the worry here? :)
