and he hasn’t had a great year. Even if he is cheap prospect wise, why do it? He’s not saving this year’s team. Sign him for nothing but cash during FA if you like him.
LeMahieu and Cole are the most recent, big, FA contracts handed out and, they certainly haven’t been that.
Kluber, O'day, Wilson, Gardner . DJ contract has another 5.5 years, that ain't looking too hot right now either.
He had a good couple years with some prospects coming up and some trades with Didi, Gio, Voit etc but he has completely lost it and majority of what he touches turns to shit the last few years

Don’t argue with the know-nothings.
Oh your the same guy who made a whole long post bashing everyone and said Park was exposed to waivers and everyone passed on him, then disappeared when you were called out being wrong.

No, I am correct- as posted in that same thread. Park was outrighted by the Yanks on the 21st. See the link from mlb.com below. Being outrighted is effectively being put on waivers- any team can claim the player by simply claiming him and putting on there 40 man roster.
"For 2021, if a club experiences a COVID-19 outbreak, the rules will be relaxed to allow the club to temporarily place new players on the 40-man and active rosters and then take them off without the need to place the players on waivers and either outright or option them when the players are activated from the COVID-19 Related IL"
Park, Amburgey, and Brantley were all added to the temporary 40 man and Yankees never had to open up a 40 man roster move for any of them.
even if you're right, you don't have to be such a dick. I know this isn't the first time I've said this. You come across as a know-it-all and a bigot. And it's not cool. Fans can disagree without name calling.
I'll be fair here and wait to see how the trade plays out but
5 scouts think Park and Castillo are AAAA players . Maybe. I'll tell you what. I guarantee Park has a better MLB career then Wade. Just like it was Obvious that Thairo Estrada was going to be a better player then Wade but Cashman gave him away for nothing
RE: Park was never on the 40 man to begin with so no need for him

I see you did not look at the link. It specifically shows the transaction. You continue to ignore the facts and try to come up with arguments that have no basis in fact.
I really don’t care if people think I am being harsh, as people who do not understand what happened continue to deny it did. Know-nothing. That is the correct term

The contracts you mentioned are hardly anything to be angry about. You can be upset that they were signed but, they’re far from a detriment to the team now or in the future.

LOL, you're stare in the face of evidence that you're wrong, and simply deny it. As the passage giantfan posted very clear stated, when being added as a replacement for a COVID outbreak, players can be returned, whether by beind optioned or outrighted, without clearing waivers. That's the whole point - special exceptions are made, and when you insist that "outrighted" means something even though mlb has very specifically changed it for this season, well, you look awfully silly. It's really not complicated, but it's amusing to see you not only ignore the simple rule changes that were posted here and make yourself look ignorant, but be a dick about it.

Just for the record, you’re 100% wrong. The player is added to the 40 man and removed from the 40 man without clearing waivers when added as a COVID replacement. but ideally, it has to be for guys with control beyond this season. As of now, Story wouldn't qualify. Maybe Cashman is thinking the rental status lowers the price significantly, he's probably right. They get him in, maybe get the wild card, and have an inside track to re-sign him. He's probably my first choice of the free agent SS to pursue this offseason. But you're certainly taking a risk bringing him in without an extension.
I know we're all pretty frustrated with the current regime, but I don't see Cashman mortgaging the future to save his job. Volpe, Dominguez, maybe Peraza, I can't see him moving those guys. He's still under contract next season too.
trying to save his reputation . He needs to be gone ASAP . His track record the last few years in Trades and FA signings is atrocious
What prospect base? What have the Yankees gotten out of that prospect base? They are 9 games in back of the Red Sox whose prospect base was supposedly destroyed by Dombrowski on the way to winning the World Series.
Always fun waking up to the latest Cashman Analytics Group genius
The rumor is Cashman wants to play Story in CF. Which makes perfect sense once you understand the methodology.
Let's go through this in some kind of order to see how the CAG got here. Take your best 2B who is a plus hitter & make him a bad SS and watch him turn into a bad hitter too because you gave 90 Million dollars to your 33 year old 2B that you'll probably have to move to 1B which his worst position because he's losing range and you have a DH playing 1B when he's healthy which isn't often.
But DH is blocked by the still owed after this year 190 Million dollar current DH who used to play the OF more than adequately but you won't let him because he's always hurt too. In addition the Catcher is really a DH and hurts the pitching staff and his bat gets worn down doing something he's bad at. Your best player who is an outstanding RF is 6'7" and 280 lbs and gets hurt a lot too. He would benefit from DHing a time or two a week but he's about fourth in line.
So it makes perfect sense to trade for a good SS and put him in CF. Shouldn't be an issue. He's only changing leagues for the first time and moving from a small market to NY. The CAG is all about putting players in the best positions for them and the team to succeed.
The old saying is that championship teams are strong defensively up the middle. It seems as though the CAG has data that disproves that theory. Lets look from the plate out. The Catcher is a DH. The SS is an adequate 2B but a terrible SS. The regular 2B is still an above average defender but he’s playing 1B because the 1B has been hurt almost all year. The replacement 2B is a below average defender. So the plan is trade for a SS and put him in CF to create the worst up the middle defense possible for the pitching staff. Makes perfect sense.

That is the truth. They need to revamp this team. They have many good pieces that are out of position/deployed incorrectly to fill a narrative...They have lost sight of the big picture.
The Red Sox are meh and kicking butt.

I tend to agree with Joel Sherman on whether to trade for
Story, why trade bodies when he is a free agent at season's end.
Either way, it's going to cost money after 2021 to get him. I would wait on that.

Apparently the insurance actuary and his crack staff of pencil neck fuckstains will now have Poon deploy two shortstops with two outfielders.
What's next. Two catchers to limit wild pitches and passed balls?
Would that make him a 4th baseman?
