Under fire from people who misunderstand the facts (or are simply inclined to spread misinformation). The CDC's current PCR test doesn't test for influenza at all. It's simply a COVID test. Newer tests have been developed which can detect both COVID and other non-COVID flu strains, and the CDC is recommending that labs use the newer tests so they can get more information with a single test as flu season approaches. It's simply a move from a narrower to a broader test, not an issue of accuracy.

1. It shows that he cannot be blamed or called irresponsible for testing positive.
2.He is unlikely to have illness that will affect his play
