Possibility the Mets could have 5 picks in the first two rounds next year if they don’t sign Rocker and qualify Noah and Conforto.
Baez at 2B moves McNeil...where ?
I'd like to see Ronny Mo get some time in LF, just to get his feet wet in outfield grass.

Considering both Baty and Vientos have seen time in LF, I think it's likely Mauricio does as well, as soon as next month (assuming he's not traded). He's expected to move to Bing somewhat soon.
Also making it more impressive is that the K rate and BB rates are both solid and his BABIP so far this year is very pedestrian at .300 (actually the lowest of his career), though that's also probably in part why his isolated slugging % is so high. His .579 slg% is slightly better than Alonso's final year in the minors even though half of that year was in Vegas and he was a couple years older. So he's not just showing a little power he's showing some real 30-40+ homer power. I know he's always been touted for his exit velocity would be interesting to see what he's done this year. I remember Alonso's last year he was posting numbers higher than guys in the big leagues.

It’s big velocity and some feel for spin, but significant reliever risk given the present delivery and command, and the fact that he isn’t really getting stretched out at this point is instructive probably.
Interesting - thanks for putting that together. Wonder how he's been looking in LF.
Yes they should have picked some additional bonus options in the even they had extra money to spend but I think they had agreed to terms with Rocker almost right after they picked him.
Just sucks for everyone involved - but more Rocker than anyone else. if he doesn't get signed I assume he's going to have to rehab/repair whatever the issue is and re-enter next year? Where he will probably be lucky to get 1/2 of what they were going to pay him this year.
bottomline nobody wins just a crappy situation.

Agreeing to terms is secondary, most (if not all) of the high picks have verbal agreements before even being picked. Cowser for example told teams he already had a deal with the Orioles when they called him. They still could/should have selected a "back up" pick after round 10. There is no downside to punting one of these later picks "no chance he signs without 7 figures". As for your suggestion it could be something worse than TJ... doubtful. There would be no negotiation to be had. If you believe Martino it's not even clear he needs surgery at all let alone something worse than Tommy John.
If he needs TOS i wouldn’t sign him.

Isn't Tommy John worst case (other than amputation)?

TOS is not an elbow injury. It's not TOS (assuming the elbow stuff is accurate).
were this just a repairable injury like TJS there would be almost no reason for a stalemate unless they were negotiating lower to sign some additional bonus baby like they did with Kay - but we know that's not a possibility here.
which is what makes me think the concern is some kind of potentially chronic or degenerative issue.

This is incorrect
@Feinsand
The Reds are finalizing a deal to acquire RHP Mychal Givens from the Rockies, per source.
it would be a pretty big departure from that to pass on what they viewed as a $6m prospect for 4.5m next year just because they are afraid of a standard TJS during a window when they had already shut Rocker down.
I think 1 of these 2 things has to be true:
1- either they are trying to save a few million for the sake of it but still plan to sign Rocker even though they have nobody else to spend the $ on.
2- something about his injury scares them a lot more than Ginn's.
I hope it's #1 and they just don't want to establish a bad precedent but even if it were it would seem to be unlikely to drag on like this.
At this point it's financial in the sense they still want to get this done, not that the "issue" is so bad they would walk away because of it. If the walk away, it won't be because "woah they found this horrible thing that can't be taken care of".

would you guess the stalemate right now is more financial or medical? I don't think answering would divulge anything that's not already public domain.

that's great and very comforting if true.
Get him signed. Seems like every pitcher on Mets get tjs. ROCKER 2024!
Along with Allen 2024
Thanks for this. That is comforting.
Highly doubtful. Below average at 3b and LF right now so it's very unlikely they use a rookie (skipping AAA) carrying a 28.4% AA K rate as a bench bat.
The expectation is Ginn will be "in the mix" to help the rotation or bullpen second half 2022.
prospects that will need to be added to the 40 man after the season (or risk being lost) include Mark Vientos, Ronny Mauricio, Carlos Cortes and Jose Butto

Great move for the Marlins. Luzardo returns home also, as he went to Stoneman-Douglas
read on Mets blog the demand is 2 top 100 players.
I'd imagine if a trade is in the works he won't be on the flight tomorrow.
The Rays are weird, they're a contender, but a seller?

I mean.... very well could mean someone awful like Wacha or mediocre like Fleming.
He seems to be pitching the best he's pitched in 3 or 4 years.
Can't imagine it would be a high price.

Jim Bowden of The Athletic says he's hearing a trade sending Trevor Story and Jon Gray to the Mets might happen.
@mikemayer22
Zack Scott says the Mets are still looking to acquire starting pitching but at this point it’s likely more of a “depth guy”.
I'm sure alot of teams are using the Mets to leverage for a better deal. That said Gray would be ideal
