NFT: Jeopardy this week

Interesting week.

LeVar Burton hosting. On Monday, he made a major error saying a response was incorrect but was actually correct but answered after time ran out. This affected the following responses and later one of the other contestents was given back the money they lost. Let’s see how he does for the balance of the week,

On Monday, all time record low of minus $7,400 was set.

The current 5 time champion is good but has a very weird way of phrasing all his responses.
I watch the show 15-20 nights a month

and it has been fun seeing the variety of guest hosts. This week has been less entertaining than many others because LVB doesn't seem very relaxed and because the champion seems so wooden. During chit-chat time, I wish LaVar would ask him, "When the question refers to a person, why do you insist on using the word 'what' rather than 'who'?"

I liked Mayim Bialik best, but I'm guessing she'd prefer a more stimulating career path. I keep waiting for a producer to ask me to guest host – perhaps they lost my number.

Burton tends to shout out very excitedly at random times that the answer is correct. Gives the impression that he is surprised anyone knows the answer to certain questions.

The champion does not say what. He always uses what’s. Sounds weird when he says something like “What’s Washington” when referring to the first President.
Yeah I noticed that too about the champion
Anakim : 7/28/2021 10:13 pm : link
He phrases everything with "what is" been if it's referring to a person. He also tends to speak slowly and stall but at the same time, will give the bare minimum of an answer.

Burton is okay. Not really sure why many thought he was the natural replacement for Alex Trebek. Burton is okay and brings a bit of excitement and charisma, but IDK, he doesn't seem very...affable?
Yeah I think

he has trained himself to take a lawyer’s advice and say as little as possible and always using the same phrasing. Always use the last name only unless requested by the host for the first name. That could screw you unnecessarily. That does take discipline.
I always thought Larry Wilmore

Would be the replacement. Not sure why. Just what I imagined.
I love Levar Burton and have always admired him
Jints in Carolina : 7/29/2021 8:32 am : link
but he is awful at hosting.
The champion is described

as a PhD candidate from New Haven, CT. Been trying to figure out what School that could be.

He's pretty awkward like James was, but without the humor James had.
