Eickhoff DFA'd. Recall Bostick. Story/Gray rumored... LFGM..
In a perfect world its
Degrom
Stroman
Carrasco
Walker
Mcgill
Thor and Hill move to BP?
Pretty crazy thought but even if we traded for Story and Gray... Does Gray crack our playoff rotation? Is Story even a starting player after Lindor returns?
Both legitimate questions.
But they definitely help our depth for now...
We do need another mid rotation starter, depending on the health of Degrom, Carrasco and Syndergaard

synderguard is going to the pen if he makes it back this year

I want to agree but I'm hesitant because there is some possibility that Degrom/Carrasco/Stroman have another IL stint before playoffs.
And unlike past offseason the trade deadline is it, there's not august moves allowed as I understand.
Hope you guys are watching

He won't get one this year, but Conforto has veen playing gold glove caliber defense in RF for some time now. One of the big reasons I like him, and a big reason I never thought McKinney was a serious replacement for him in RF.
LFGM!
What a game. Huge! These games are so incredibly important.
Rubber game tomorrow, and the Mets can put the Braves 6 back which would be gigantic.
AND we are starting to establish the pen May - Lugo - Familia - Diaz and Loup for good measure
if he and Diaz figure it out that back of the bullpen will be tough on opponents.
neither has really been consistent though, so just have to hope they get right for the dog days and the stretch run.
Great stuff. That 97 mph sinker is a real weapon.

really is just a storybook feeling for Familia. He has re-built his confidence with Mets fans and I will be proud to see him on the mound again during our playoff run.
Wish Wheeler was here for this :(
his BABIP against is way up (which indicates he's been unlucky).
his left on base % is the same as last year.
groundball % is actually down.
but the big thing is that his walks are down big and close to his career average. still not where they were during his best years but 4 per 9 innings is playable. 6 per is not.
also interesting, his K-rate is the highest it's ever been right now.
imo his guile and ability to work through jams has always been extremely underrated. in part because his walks create a lot of those jams. in a real tough spot like the one he came into tonight though I think I trust him more than Diaz. in a hypothetical world where the 2015 NYM defense made 0 errors behind him (specifically Murphy game 4 and Duda game 5) that series enters game 6 with Mets up 3-2. And that's despite the quick pitch homer in game 1.
Sounds like someone else on the Mets.
Hefner is doing a fantastic job

.@Mets to acquire OF Carlos Gomez from @Brewers for RHP Zack Wheeler, INF Wilmer Flores. Clubs have not confirmed.
Amen. Hefner has some serious mojo. Really great work from Megill in a pennant race (or at least the warmups for one). Really shows great makeup and his stuff is pretty decent. I mean he’s MVP of July for the team in my opinion, edging out Alonso because of how desperately we need the rotational stability. Actually knowing who our next five starters are (knock wood) is making me giddy!
Carrasco should be good for 3-4 innings first game out and have a fresh arm. Big start for Walker at 12 today. He’s been no bueno. I’d phantom DL him when Jake comes back and let him rest. Already 27 innings over his last two seasons combined.
Well you're not going to win many games when you throw 5 innings per start. He's been great, but i'd like to see Rojas give him a little more leash (not so much last night, but the Toronto game he had another inning in him), and he needs to get more efficient with his pitch counts. (I realize thats the toughest thing for a young pitcher to learn - even half the leagues vets these days still struggle with it)
