BREAKING: The New York Yankees are finalizing a deal to acquire outfielder Joey Gallo from the Texas Rangers, sources tell ESPN. The deal is pending medical review. Link - ( New Window )

@JeffPassan
The Texas Rangers will receive RHP Glenn Otto, 2B Ezequiel Duran, SS Josh Smith and 2B/OF Trevor Hauver as part of the package from the New York Yankees in the Joey Gallo trade, sources tell ESPN.
Rangers are getting massive haul of prospects in this deal. Others involved, too.
The #Yankees reached deep into their pitching and middle-IF depth in this package for Gallo, but did not touch the two middle IF they believe have the highest upside in Oswald Peraza and Anthony Volpe, nor pitching with Luis Gil, Luis Medina or Clarke Schmidt.

Beautiful. Love that.
Haha, of course it's Gallo. Is he really going to touch postseason
just remember that a bunch of our prospects, but not the best ones, brought back Gallo. That's hard to quantify or compare but seems to be a good sign.
Evan Grant @Evan_P_Grant · 4m Hear are names I've been told could be coming back Rangers way from Yankees: SS Josh Smith, 2B Ezequiel Duran, OF Everson Pereira, 2B-OF Trevor Hauver, RHP Glen Otto & RHP Randy Vasquez. Still nothing official. May take some time to sort through medicals
Pereira is one that stings for me even though he's far away.
RE: Haha, of course it's Gallo. Is he really going to touch postseason
He's got 25 HRs and a .870 OPS. And yes 4th highest K in MLB. Not chopped liver and a good OF.
.
Joey Callo also leads the league in walks they said.
Hopefully Gardner sees the bench now, rather have Allen
out there, and he's a SH as well. He covers more ground, more speed.
when A)he is injury prone, and B)has 40 mill. left on his deal, for FOUR more years. That's always been the kicker
with his deal, the length of his contract, not AAV.
and those guys didn’t start the season as top 10 prospects. For a top 20-25 hitter in baseball with the sport’s highest walk percentage, that’s not bad.

Gardy to the bench can’t hurt either.
He was supposed to be on the bench. So back to the beginning?
Pereira is the one I hated losing the most, Duran is no big loss since we have so many SS/2B prospects. At least none of the top tier got dealt.
As for this year, I guess let's make the playoffs first, but Gallo isn't solving a lot of our hitting woes. He strikes out even more than Stanton, by a mile!! I really don't get why this team just doesn't seem to care about K's.
As for next year, are they signing him after next? Will they have to pick one between him and Judge? Are they playing him at 1B? Taking a GG RF to make a 1B would be this team's MO.
according to a report from ESPN's Jeff Passan: shortstop Josh Smith (No. 14-ranked Yanks prospect per MLB Pipeline); second baseman Ezequiel Duran (No. 15); second baseman/outfielder Trevor Hauver (No. 23); and right-hander Glenn Otto (No. 28). A source told Morosi that Hauver and Duran are in the deal. Passan reports that "others [are] involved, too." Yankees Prospect Rankings - ( New Window )
I'm not a Kay fan, but they have to fucking stop with the announcers for away team announcing from their home park. It doesn't work. They screw so many things up. I have MLB extra innings and at this point when I'm watching non-Yankee games I make sure I watch on the home team channel because the away team production is a total shit show because they are watching the game on a monitor from sometimes 3k miles away

FINALLY! You're right about something. Great job! 😁
a boatload of hitting talent going back the other way. Otto we probably sold high on but gutting our entire 2B pool is a really odd move.
Love Gallo but really don't love the deal.
I'm not loving the deal. IT's a lot of HRs from the left side and good defense in CF. But, it will just be more Ks in the middle of the lineup. How is this going to get us over the hump in the postseason?

Gotta get to the postseason first and that’s not happening with the production (or lack thereof) in left and center.

Agreed, but sometimes, just don't make the deal. They gave away a haul of minor leaguers, a few of whom are decent and I would say they got a good, not great player back. In 2 days, they traded their best hitter in AAA at a position of need, a serviceable reliever, anothe reliever nobody will miss and a haul of minor leaguers (decent prospects). Their grand return for all of that? A G-d awful reliever and a big power bat with a good glove, but an awful lot of swings and misses.
Gallo is a monstrous upgrade in this lineup. Warts and all he’s still basically the second best hitter on this team and he can play the field. If you’re annoyed at that we gave up ok fine but some of you act like this guy can’t hit. Everyone strikes out too much, he’s still a huge upgrade. I don’t get the negativity. And you don’t really think Gardner will start over Gallo do you? That’s a joke right?

The fact that a .220 hitter is a huge upgrade is more telling of the rest of the lineup. I am not pissed at getting him, but I think they overpaid.
Personally, for what they gave up, I'd be fine taking my chances with the young guys or going after someone else.

The guy is at 3.4 WAR and 139 wRC+ right now. That is 2nd to Judge. He is a good OF. He replaces Gardy who is a 0.3 WAR and 77 wRC+...that is a huge upgrade. And he is doing that on a crappy team without protection. He probably moves Odor out of the 3 hole and as well as Odor has done, he is not a #3 hitter - upgrade and real protection for Judge.
The Rays just got 41 year old Nelson Cruz who cannot play the field who has a similar wRC+.
Prospects are prospects. They would not have been with the Yanks MLB team anytime soon. Look how long we have waited for Florial and he may or may not make the big team permanently and he was the #1 prospect. I hope Florial replaces Gardy next spring.
As for the Mets, I hope they do well and win the NLE and the NL. However, they are 1 game better than the Yanks right now. One game and their 2nd place team is at .500.
who can be pitched to when it counts. Other than that he's lefty, more of the same. 125 Ks in 388 plate appearances. He'll fit right in with Judge, Stanton, Sanchez, Torres.
Gallo is a good all around player. Yes I'd like a better contact guy, but he's what the MLB is now for better or worse. As for the prospects, I know some of you in here obsess on them, but frankly I've lost all faith in this organization to develop top notch players. Besides Judge who on this roster has been developed by us that you would have a hard time trading right now? Monty? Please. Maybe Loaisiga but he's hardly untouchable. Gleyber doesn't count he was mainly a Cubs prospect. Honestly at this point besides maybe Dominguez I'd deal anyone.
If so I have watched him pitch this year at Frisco Double AA Roughriders. I am a usher for the Roughriders.
Rodriguez is a pretty good pitching prospect who didn't get much run support.13 starts a 1.24 WHIP with 52 SO's in 45 innings.2.98 ERA.
That part of the motivation to trade these particular prospects was the fact that a few of them had reached the point where the Yankees would have to put them on the 40 man roster to protect them from the Rule 5 Draft. Considering that most are only at High A ball level, it seems prudent to deal them now. It was going to be a while before they even sniffed the big leagues, and the Yankees got something instead of nothing.
Also, to get Gallo, they didn’t give up any top prospects. That, IMO, is the best thing about this deal.

correct. before complaining about the haul, one has to seriously consider how many of these guys would realistically have been a fit for the 40-man after this season.
For all of the twitter mouth-breathers who can't stop repeating the trope that the yankees minors league system is weak, this trade is a testament to the depth of the talent there. Not a ton of blue-chippers in the org (although a few players really surging), but there is quality talent that runs deep.
The rumored package includes 2 guys who would have to be placed on the 40 man roster this offseason, or we would risk losing them for nothing in the Rule 5 draft. Otto was already exposed in last year's rule 5 draft, and went unselected and Duran would have had to be added this year.
Also, we're dealing from our big depth in middle IF prospects (Smith 2B/SS, Hauver 2B/corner OF, Duran 2B), while keeping the prospects that the organization believes still has the highest upside at those same positions (Volpe SS, Oswald Peraza SS, Alexander Vargas SS, and new 1st rounder Trey Sweeney SS). Also, ignoring the fact that Gleyber is SS/2B at only 24 years old still.
The Yanks always seem to have guys selected in the Rule 5, and the crunch as always is real this year. Looking at some other players who would need to be protected, or risk losing for nothing:
- Oswaldo Cabrera (middle IF)
- Brandon Lockridge (OF)
- Josh Breaux (C)
- Randy Vazquez (SP)
- Everson Pereira (OF)
- Matt Sauer (SP)
Just a small sampling of guys that we can see moved in deals due to Rule 5.

Agreed and thanks for the list of the Rule 5 eligible guys. If they have not made it in 5 years(or 4 if over 18 at signing), they probably are not likely to make it with the Yanks within the next 6 months.
Would be tough to hide on an MLB roster. Lockridge maybe, but he’s probably a 4th OF. I like Breaux the most of them for upside but he’s not MLB ready. Vasquez might be able to stick in relief right now, but I doubt Sauer could.

Agreed there. Not with a team that is going to consistently be going for it.
Of that bunch I think you called out the two I'd love to try and hold onto to see what we have, Lockridge and Breaux. Lockridge has been mashing since his promotion to Double A (.999 OPS, granted it's only been 61 PA's), and Breaux, who has the country power, but is still in High A, I imagine a promotion should be coming for him, though he's mired in a slump now.
Forgive me, Pereira is my #1 hold. I had mentioned him above in the thread when he was announced in the original trade as the one that would sting the most (for me) if dealt. While he's the farthest away, I agree with you that his ceiling is the highest. He's having a great start so far in Tampa, and I'd think a move to Tampa is not far off given his status.

But,it will depend om how much the Yankees value each & also, there will be teams that will take a player & keep him on the roster all season. We saw that with Luis Torrens & the Padres! I agree Pereira would be my #1 & I've heard some very good things about Vasquez!
Seidler (BP) said he had Duran #4, Otto #14, Smith #9 in the Yankees system pre-trade not including 2021 draft picks.
Duran is a little high for me. Smith isn’t, and Otto isn’t either. Otto had some of the best K numbers in the minors. Duran has a weird offensive profile. If it works cool, but it hasn’t all that often before.
So has the deal been finalized? Just 4 prospects and Rangers are

According to both Passan and Curry.
Yanks look to be getting Gallo along with LHP Joely Rodriguez (no Joey King as previously reported).
The prospect package is down to 4; Josh Smith, Trevor Hauver, Glenn Otto, and Ezequiel Duran (No Pereira or Vazquez as previously reported).
King looked like a good pick up, Rodriguez, not so much.
.
It makes the deal more palatable, 4 prospects instead of 6.
Smith and Otto were top 25 prospects in MLB Pipeline as well. So the Yanks took a lesser RP from the Rangers.
Now if you could have got Gallo for the rest of this year, and 2 more seasons of team control, then I think
6 prospects becomes more palatable. As it is, one more season of team control.
In the deal, the Rangers received: shortstop Josh Smith (Yankees' No. 14 prospect per MLB Pipeline); second baseman Ezequiel Duran (No. 15); second baseman/outfielder Trevor Hauver (No. 23); and right-hander Glenn Otto (No. 28).

Both Jim Callis (BA) and Jarrett Seidler (BP) have noted these rankings are severely out of date and nowhere near where they would stand today.

pushed to mid-July, we haven't done our midseason update & aren't including 2021 draftees yet. So the current rankings are from before the season, and we're slotting in the guys who changed teams & the replacements.

I am trying to make sure everyone understands that the Yankees did trade away Top 10 Prospects in this deal. If you're argument is you don't like Duran/Smith and have info, let's discuss. If it's because you cite preseason rankings (ours included) that's outdated info.

Dan, all these rankings are subjective and not that far off from one another. Look where Deivi Garcia has been ranked and Florial. They float and move. The players they are giving up are good prospects, yes. In the end, all they are is prospects. Most prospects are just trade bait and pieces(that is cruel sounding).
Let us just hope Gallo is as good or better than they say.
“I would consider myself as defensive-first player, honestly,” the reigning American League right field Gold Glove winner said. “Numbers-wise, I’m higher up there (on defense) than I am hitting. I can hit homers and whatnot, but I take pride in being able to change the game defensively. I’ve just never been associated as that kind of player so it makes me proud that I can be that kind of player.”
The numbers back him up. Entering Tuesday night’s game, Gallo led all right fielders in Outs Above Average, and it wasn’t particularly close.

Of course they are subjective but with no 2020 season pre-season rankings were especially "poor" and inaccurate. The pre-season rankings would have you believe the Yankees gave up very little, write ups on the trade from those in the know would have you feeling quite differently Link - ( New Window )

Very odd question. You don't read analyses from professionals? Odd, I see Gil Brandt cited ad nausea on this very site. "Any of us" as if you speak for all fans lol.

Why I would I care what he thinks about this particular trade, though?
for myself (and not an entire fanbase) when moves, draft picks, trades, signings are made I appreciate the opinions of people who actually work in the field and have experience evaluating talent. If you don't, that's great for you.

I wonder how many Yankee fans care about this one guy's opinion on this particular trade.
he's employed by a respected outfit to give his professional opinion (that comes from a scouting background) and has connections/communications with teams/scouts/other players? I'm genuinely confused as to why you wouldn't understand interest in what people like Goldstein say. Truly.

Presumably MANY Yankee fans are reading his take, Keith Law's take etc. I think you're actually in the minority with complete disinterest in what "experts" feel the Yankees gave up or with their opinions on future trades.

the Yankees make a major trade FOR prospects, the first thing most fans will do is read the opinions of well regarded prospect writers including Kevin Goldstein who again, until very recently was a major league scouting director.
Not thrilled for all the Yankees gave up for Gallo
They gave up a lot to add to a very flawed team for a player who only has 1.5 years left on his deal and Gallo is the type of player who Yankees have more the enough of .
With that being said, He does Walk a lot, doesn't hit into DP ,is left handed , and is very good defensively.
This team especially under Cashman is never going to rebuild so these are the type of moves to expect . At least they kept Volpe and Peraza ( for now ) because I don't think I could handle trading Volpe unless it's for Trout or Ohtani

why would you waste this many minutes of your life back and forth with Dave in Hoboken of all people?
the guy doesn't have a clue.
I honestly never really paid attention to him (not insulting the guy) he just never stood out. Had no idea he had a reputation. FWIW Goldstein in no way was critical of the Yankees trade he essentially said both sides did well and the "original" trade package (2 prospects were removed) was stonger. I wasn't trying to rile up some anti-Yankee debate. I'm a huge Gallo fan and I think they made a good move (especially if they look to keep him). I personally like to read what "respected" people in the scouting industry of any sport have to say and then I make my own judgements.
with all due respect, grow up. Tired of you derailing Giants and Yankees threads with ridiculous arguments. There was literally zero reason for you to give Dan a hard time for sharing that information. I've tried encouraging you to stop in the past but at some point the pattern is what it is.

they gave up some good stuff. They got a good player back with a year of control. Would have been furious giving up that much for a rental.
Appreciate you sharing it.

please DMM, continue. Odd stance to not care about what prospect evaluators/experts that do it for a living, have to say about the prospects your team is giving up in a deal since most of us have never seen them play.

Both Jim Callis (BA) and Jarrett Seidler (BP) have noted these rankings are severely out of date and nowhere near where they would stand today.
Of course they are subjective but with no 2020 season pre-season rankings were especially "poor" and inaccurate. The pre-season rankings would have you believe the Yankees gave up very little, write ups on the trade from those in the know would have you feeling quite differently Link - ( New Window )
Wow, went out to the store and the idiocy shit hit the fan..
Now back to the rankings, good point on there being no last year. However, the guys they gave up have good rankings either year. Rangers would not be giving up a good MLB player for trash. I think the real point is it is highly unlikely any of these guys make the big team before needing to be on the 40 man roster. The fact that the Rangers are also eating salary means they needed the pot sweetened to bite that apple.
From what I have seen the top 40ish guys are ranked nearly the same by the different agencies and then it gets lose after 50 or so. I also see that previous years and trades have shown the rankings do not necessarily lead to a player making the big time as a consistent starter - see Garcia and Florial. Whitlock looks to be one that bucks the trend and I do not know where he was ranked.
makes a lot of sense. Last winter was probably the time to cash in when his value was greatest, but it is what it is. If they make a move for a SS with Gleyber back to 2B they need 1B for DJ. Voit's a bit redundant in this lineup, will be 30 and is frequently battling injuries, due for a raise in arbitration. Not shocked to see his name come up, just curious where his value is now.

Good question on his value. He still has power and a high OBP(well did). He is the obvious choice to be moved to make room. DJLM is better in all aspects except power. The Yanks have enough power without Voit, whom I like a lot.

1. DMM is a great poster and always welcome on Yankees threads.
2. Although I agree with DMM about wanting to hear what the analysts say, interestingly, my friends who work in sports say we (the public) give their opinions too much weight. (My counterargument is: It's the best we have since we don't have the same front office insights you do.)
3. Is anyone worried about the Cole / sticky stuff effect? Or am I being paranoid?

Cole had a great performance against the Astros post sticky stuff. He had a bad 1st inning. Has been very good since.
Can somebody explain why Brett Gardner is still on this team
is the team to go for it all with Gallo, and now reports of them looking into Schwarber and Story. Other then trying to save his job for how poor he has done the last 2 years why would you go all in with such a flawed roster ?
You never want to have a GM who is trying to save his job running your team . Cashman is responsible for this team being mediocre with all these resources he sure as hell ain't going to fix it. However, he will blow all the depth of the farm system to try to squeeze into the WC and lose in the WC game or the 1st round
Having the 2nd highest in payroll in baseball and convincing your fans that the playoffs are a crapshoot so they are satisfied with just making it instead of the truth that the team is flawed and gets exposed in the playoffs, is the biggest con job i have ever seen . Congrats for falling for it.
Give another GM a $210m Payroll , the resources Cashman has been given in regards to the international spending sprees, putting his people in place in key spots in the organization no matter the cost , and tell me they would still have a job winning the division once in in the last decade while your arch nemesis won a WS, rebuilt and already overlapped you, and a team with a fraction of the payroll is better then you every year
Facts are facts. They’ve missed the playoffs twice since Cashman’s been the GM and have never had a losing season. You and I may not like the outcome of them all but, remaining competitive on a consistent basis and making the playoffs is hardly doing a ‘poor job’. Hell, this team was a game away from the World Series in 2017 and two in 2019.
No fan wants to settle for just making it to the playoffs, I get that. But to win it all, you obviously have to make it there first. So, doing that is a hell of a lot more enjoyable than sitting there as a fan of a team they know isn’t going anywhere and, that’s what some of these criticisms of the Yankees look like recently. I’m not saying Cashman’s infallible; he’s definitely made his share of mistakes. I’m just saying it’s not all this doom and gloom that it’s being made out to be.
Yankees prospect Everson Pereira (part of the original Gallo deal) has been pulled from his game today... Hug watch?

Tough one to see go if he is indeed traded, but he would have to be put on the 40 man roster after this season, and he's currently in Low A.

Randy Vazquez
Not sure what the final package looks like.
Beautiful. Love that.
Let's see what the final package is.
He looks a bit like he had a stomach virus - just looks washed out. Maybe the shits...
Pereira is one that stings for me even though he's far away.
Let's see what the final package is.
He's got 25 HRs and a .870 OPS. And yes 4th highest K in MLB. Not chopped liver and a good OF.
Are they going to play Gallo at CF?
Love the Vinny reference, I use it often, LOL.
Wow. I forgot Hicks even existed until I read your post. Not even kidding.

Hopefully Gardner sees the bench now, rather have Allen

with his deal, the length of his contract, not AAV.

Views from 314ft said Duran was still not hitting the curve ball, IIRC.

He was supposed to be on the bench. So back to the beginning?
A fair mid season re-rate:
Duran was slated to rank 6th, Smith 8th, Otto 20th, Hauver 22nd.
Gallo replacing one of those spots still leaves one for Gardner.
If Cashman benches Gardner for Greg Allen against right hand pitching, particularly in October, I will eat my hat.

Why he was not going to right field with those outside FBs I will never understand.
🤣🤣
Shit. Chapman starts hot, gets one and loses the plate...
Got him
He really is. But in Big Heads defense, not being at the field is a real impediment to seeing what's going on.
They had to have another angle. No way you could tell on the two they showed on replay
I'm not a Kay fan, but they have to fucking stop with the announcers for away team announcing from their home park. It doesn't work. They screw so many things up. FINALLY! You're right about something. Great job! 😁
His velocity has been back up last couple times out - so he may have screwed up his mechanics. He had been down to 95/96.
FWIW, Green was better tonight too. You can tell when he is right as his FB is high in the zone. If he is continually down, he is off.

Gotta get to the postseason first and that’s not happening with the production (or lack thereof) in left and center.

Sure, you aren't.
Personally, for what they gave up, I'd be fine taking my chances with the young guys or going after someone else.
Quote:

Nope, no Story - they already got their CF in Gallo! Maybe Story can catch.
Rodriguez is a pretty good pitching prospect who didn't get much run support.13 starts a 1.24 WHIP with 52 SO's in 45 innings.2.98 ERA.

But,it will depend om how much the Yankees value each & also, there will be teams that will take a player & keep him on the roster all season. We saw that with Luis Torrens & the Padres! I agree Pereira would be my #1 & I've heard some very good things about Vasquez!
Duran is a little high for me. Smith isn’t, and Otto isn’t either. Otto had some of the best K numbers in the minors. Duran has a weird offensive profile. If it works cool, but it hasn’t all that often before.
Maybe I'll stop complaining about Cashman for a couple of days.
Think they will sign him long term?

It makes the deal more palatable, 4 prospects instead of 6.
Smith and Otto were top 25 prospects in MLB Pipeline as well. So the Yanks took a lesser RP from the Rangers.
Now if you could have got Gallo for the rest of this year, and 2 more seasons of team control, then I think
6 prospects becomes more palatable. As it is, one more season of team control.

he's employed by a respected outfit to give his professional opinion (that comes from a scouting background) and has connections/communications with teams/scouts/other players? I'm genuinely confused as to why you wouldn't understand interest in what people like Goldstein say. Truly.
I don't see anyone in here caring about this guy's opinion, Dan..no offense.
So your feeling is a large contingent of Yankee fans didn't read articles assessing the talent the Yankees gave up? We will have to agree to disagree.
That's not what I said at all. Who knows if they did. It certainly doesn't seem like anyone here cares about that guy's opinion, though.
*le sigh*
That's all well and good. But I don't see anyone here caring about this guy's opinion on this trade. Because no one cares..
the guy doesn't have a clue.
the guy doesn't have a clue.
I'm sorry. Who are you?
Some wild inconsistency from start to start. Can't hang that on stickum.
the guy doesn't have a clue.
I personally like to read what "respected" people in the scouting industry of any sport have to say and then I make my own judgements.
but why would we care about what you have to say on this particular thread?
I don't see anyone caring.
weird.

You mentioned me earlier, and are now replying to this post of mine.
I'd say you care.

they gave up some good stuff. They got a good player back with a year of control. Would have been furious giving up that much for a rental.
Appreciate you sharing it.
I don't think anyone with their head screwed on straight thought that you were stirring the pot in any sort of negative way.
Kyle, no offense. But I honestly don't care what your opinion is of me as a poster. It's a forum. If you don't like me or my posts, ignore them. Pretty simple.

with all due respect, grow up. Tired of you derailing Giants and Yankees threads with ridiculous arguments. There was literally zero reason for you to give Dan a hard time for sharing that information. I've tried encouraging you to stop in the past but at some point the pattern is what it is.

could I change your mind thought if I told you that there was literally nobody who found these discussions better as a result of your participation?
doubtful, but worth a shot.

Nope. It's a forum. Again, I ask, who even are you?
Very good stuff.

Luke Voit has drawn interest in trade discussions the Yankees are having with multiple teams. Voit is on the verge of returning from the IL. Led the majors with 22 HRs last season, but has been limited to 29 games this season. #yankees

Good question on his value. He still has power and a high OBP(well did). He is the obvious choice to be moved to make room. DJLM is better in all aspects except power. The Yanks have enough power without Voit, whom I like a lot.
agree completely. over rated and always hurt.

Can't be!!! I read he was destroying the National League.

You never want to have a GM who is trying to save his job running your team . Cashman is responsible for this team being mediocre with all these resources he sure as hell ain't going to fix it. However, he will blow all the depth of the farm system to try to squeeze into the WC and lose in the WC game or the 1st round
Ok. Got it.
Ok. Got it.
Having the 2nd highest in payroll in baseball and convincing your fans that the playoffs are a crapshoot so they are satisfied with just making it instead of the truth that the team is flawed and gets exposed in the playoffs, is the biggest con job i have ever seen . Congrats for falling for it.
Give another GM a $210m Payroll , the resources Cashman has been given in regards to the international spending sprees, putting his people in place in key spots in the organization no matter the cost , and tell me they would still have a job winning the division once in in the last decade while your arch nemesis won a WS, rebuilt and already overlapped you, and a team with a fraction of the payroll is better then you every year
No fan wants to settle for just making it to the playoffs, I get that.
Looks like it?

Breaking: someone at the game said a mound visit was called and the manager brought Pereira out of the game with handshakes. Appears a trade is going down.
Tough one to see go if he is indeed traded, but he would have to be put on the 40 man roster after this season, and he's currently in Low A.
Appears to be a false alarm. Saw this:
Everson Pereira is still in the Tarpons dugout and just said “No trade” when asked if he was traded. he says they took him out to rest for game 2 of the doubleheader
