Colts QB Carson Wentz suffers a foot injury in practice. Most accounts are saying 6 to 9 week injury, and it looks like he will start the season on IR. It is not a season ending injury. Some are thinking the Colts could inquire about Bears QB Nick Foles.
The injury to QB Dak Prescott could be a bit more serious than originally anticipated. Not an AC joint injury, but more than the fatigue which it has been described as. It could be a compensation injury due to not being able to properly push off with the existing ankle injury.
C Spencer Pulley has signed with the Titans.
The Jaguars cut K Aldrick Rosas and LB Leon Jacobs. They signed WR Tevin Jones.
Patriots QB Jarrett Stidham will miss about 3 months after back surgery.
Raiders RB Theo Riddick has retired.
49ers are signing former WR, now TE Jordan Matthews.
Dolphins put OG DJ Fluker on IR.
Free agent DE Justin Houston is deciding between several teams, and will play in 2021.
Yeah I liked him. I thought we should have resigned him. Great run blocker.
If Wentz plays 75% of the offensive snaps the conditional 2nd rounder becomes a first.
If all snaps per game were equalized over 17 games, that means he'd need to play 12.75 games.
2nd condition that makes the 2nd rounder become a first is if Wentz plays 70% of the snaps and the Coltsake the playoffs.
Under that condition, Wents would need to play 11.9 games.
It's pretty likely that he won't miss enough time to put the conditions in jeopardy. However, it it's close, the Colts may sit Wentz in week 18 if there are no playoff repercussions, under the guise of protecting him.
Seattle, Rams, at Titans, at Dolphins, at Ravens, Texans, at 49ers.
With or without Wentz, and aside from the Texans, they could easily come out of the gate below .500 versus that line-up.
So maybe playing it super cautious with Wentz makes the most sense...
