Obviously a very small sample size but Rizzo is just a winning player and does everything well . Gallo is too Boom or Bust for me , especially on a team that already has too many of those type of guys

Every Cubs fan I know was sad to see him go because he was a great player, great leader and a personality the fans wanted to pay to watch.

Brother in law-big Cubs fan-was pissed that Rizzo got dealt. He figured Bryant &-to a lesser degree-Baez would be traded, but he was bummed about Rizzo. He considered Rizzo the heart & soul of this Cubs era, this generation's Banks, Santos, & Sandberg.
The luxury tax will have been re-set. Not going to be a lot of teams bidding to give him a long term deal at his age and with his stats down from the peak.
And he's from the area.
I know there are those who think Torres has to be moved from SS and DJL slotted at 1B. I don't like that solution.
RE: Don't say why the Yanks can't be the ones to sign Rizzo
and just like that, this team reminds you why they aren't going to win anything in 2021. I can't remember a Yankees team that makes more mistakes on basic plays.

Yankees fans want them to go after the big name SS like Story or Seager.
Personally, I think it is a mistake. Handing out another huge contract to big names even though they are under performing or injury prone is not the way I want to go.
Also, you can't solve everything through FA. Yankees have 2 SS who are top 100 and are close to big leagues. Peraza should be ready mid 2022 and Volpe 2023. I know it's a foreign concept to the Yankees the last 3 years but it's ok to Let young players get a shot and by all accounts Volpe is going to be special

and that is why I'm still choked at what we gave up for Gallo.
Park, Duran, Smith and Hauver sure seemed to give the Yankees an awesome long term cluster of talent to push Torres and Gio. Smith, in particular, is someone I think will make this trade tilt differently in a few years.
Volpe and Peraza are tracking well and if they stay healthy, we have to give them a shot at being part of the next core.

They were always going to be trade bait but using them to go get Gallo was the wrong move IMO. Team needs contact hitters and bullpen help , especially in the playoffs when these Boom or Bust guys get exposed like they have been the last few years and bullpen gets exhausted from overuse and Britton looks terrible all season
Cashman just had a Boner for Gallo and didn't care how he fit
Really don't see what he brings to the team at this point in his career. Can't hit, speed is diminished, Defense fell off, Worst arm in baseball . This isn't a charity. Give him a day at the stadium like Arod and call it a career
2nd and 3rd, no one out
German swings better than Wade even if it was a K...
Judge - 6'7
Gallo - 6'5
Judge - 6'7
Gallo - 6'5
Only the second team in MLB history with 3 players 6'5" in the lineup (2016 Cubs - Fowler, Heyward and Bryant). So yeah.
runners on 2nd and 3rd no out. RISPFAIL
Judge - 6'7
Gallo - 6'5
That is what I thought when I saw how Gallo is...

Voit has to get healthy and it is clear he hasn't been. He wasn't healthy last year but fought through it and led the league in homers.
If he is healthy, I want him in the lineup over Odor.

7 runners left on through 4. Brutal situational hitting.

Like Stanton, Gallo really has a goofy swing.
Rizzo hits bombs - can he get any closer to the plate - wow.
Current infield injuries not withstanding, the guy has gotten far too many at-bats this season.
Paul just said it as I'm typing.
Guaranteed a little Cuban influence.
