NFT: Tonight was the scariest thing I ever saw at a game

Steve L : 7/31/2021 8:37 pm
As I do 20 or so times a year, I went to the Rochester Red Wings baseball game tonight. We’re the AAA team for the Nats. Bottom of the first, the third baseman for the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs has a seizure/stroke and falls to the ground. Silence at the stadium. An ambulance came out but they didn’t move him for 20 minutes or so. It was the first game of a double header. Needless to say, everything was cancelled.

A very surreal night at Frontier Field. This is a 23 year old professional athlete in prime condition and he has a stroke. It was hard to see.

613k people in the United States died, 328m people live in the United States. That's about 0.2% of people in the Unites States that died if EVERYONE was infected. That's ten time the amount of people you said die from Covid if EVERYONE was infected. It's shameless misinformation like this why we still have so many people dying today.
What I don't understand about some people that are anti mRNA vaccine
Zeke's Alibi : 8/1/2021 12:30 pm : link
is that there are other vaccine types out there. Not as effective apparently, but they still prevent serious illness. I'm not sold on the long-term safety of mNRA vaccine either, but there are other options.

Rna vaccines aren’t gene therapy.

Their is not an active viral vector trying to rewrite code.

So no. I think, from a scientists perspective, someone that has worked in molecular biology for over 20 years, Theirs is no possible way this can be characterized as gene therapy.

So I read your comment and think, this guy thinks he knows what he’s talking about. You don’t when you use words like gene therapy.

Is code for viral protein. This vaccine makes your cells into factories for making just the spike protein part of the virus. If you have an allergic reaction, it will manifest quickly.

The science is sound, some people will have adverse reactions. To say any health issue is the fault of this vaccine, is blindly looking for something to blame and speaks to a lack of trust in communities that are built on evidence and truth. The scientists are lying, the medical professionals are lying, the politicians are telling the truth ya? In Both those professions, if you have no proof, your not worth a salt.

Come on.

There is a more traditional vaccine making use of genetically modified adenovirus to carry instructions to your immune system, if the emergence of mRNA vaccines is the concern — there’s an alternative.

But what are the demonstrable concerns with the mRNA approach? What are the fact based issues with this approach.

More importantly what is the evidence that will assuage this concern. What are the simple, factual, next steps that will address those concerns.

If there is a concern, it’s reasonable to be able to articulate what that concern is and what would be evidence to ease that concern.

No wonder the vaccines have stalled...Look, everyone has a right(or should have) to take it or not take it. But do not spread lies about it. If you choose to not take it, don't blame those that did for saying "eff you" to masks or for rebelling against more restrictions based on faulty studies that were rejected in peer review.

I think being anti-vax becomes part of people's identities and when that becomes the case they go on fishing expeditions to confirm their beliefs and others oblige.

There has been a uptick in vaccinations the last couple weeks which is also good news.

One doctor made a great point being that a bigger problem may be the rest of the world having very poor vaccination rates. His worry was potentially a variant that bypassed the vaccine. Good thing our country seems to doing everything it can to limit those entering our country.....but by all means initiate severe restrictions and masks.

The biggest problem seems to be among these middle age idiots that seem to think they are in good health or somethign. I just don't understand what risks you think from the vacccine is going to be worse than COVID.

There was this one guy that's on AM radio that was spreading misinformation about the vaccine. 61 years old and said he had 1% chance of dying on twitter (which is pretty damn high anyway). Yeh, I don't think he understands that for 61 year olds that number is 1%. He's on his deathbed right now. We have a total misunderstanding in this country on how statistics works.

I have asked many people about the vaccine and the two biggest obstacles I have heard are "I just want to wait a bit longer as I am young" or "I had Covid and do not feel I need it".

If you had it, in many to most cases, it is as good as the vaccine and may be better...all the vaccine does is trick the body into reacting to the virus and make anti-bodies. It is a major argument(and I believe justifiably) that those previously sick make against taking the vaccine.

Some anti-vax people talking about gene therapy and other ridiculous stuff that frankly dilutes anything from that side and then the super pro-vax people calling those that opt not to get the vaccine cunts and wishing them death (notice which side the hostile/violent comments come from).

Bottom line is this is a free country. If you want to get the vaccine go get it. If you have legit medical issues or concerns then don’t get it. If you don’t like the ability to make medical decisions and you like mandates and the government telling everyone what to inject in their body there are several regimes that would love to have you as a citizen.

By all means, don’t get the vaccine. I don’t want you to be forced to get it. But you better be wearing masks and practicing social distancing. And if you are unable to attend games or concerts or the movies or do whatever you want, I sure hope you won’t like about being vaccinated.

This is a free country, I'm very pro-vax but I don't think people should be forced to take a vaccine no matter how ignorant and inconsiderate. But it's a two way street. There's freedom of speech and you have to live with being called out on social media and a football message board.

So would it be fair to say that if you chose not to get a Vaccine or wear a protective mask that you also refuse any treatment if you caught COVID?

You might be taking a bed that could go to someone who has followed protocol but still catches the new variant of COVID correct?

I think a lot of people overall tend to forget that a small percentage of a large number is still going to be a large number (if every American was vaccinated with a 1% adverse reaction rate that's 3 million people) and also that one, two, or even a hundred exceptional examples doesn't invalidate hundreds of thousands to millions.

As far as mutations, i believe the fear is a variant that's interacted with vaccinated people mutating to becoming resistant to them. A vaccine resistant mutation is more likely to come from a population with mixed status compared to an area of the world where there isn't access to the jab.

I'm not sure it has to do that much with social media platforms. We have a health delusion in this country because it's really the only universal third rail to talk about. Talking about diet and nutrition seems to be considered uncouth. Countless examples of that. This is like the last issue that I can think of that actually unites the left and right for different reasons.

I mean where was the messaging for living healthier during this pandemic? That should have been front and center, right next to masks, and social distancing. Instead, it was all COVID 15 and drinking jokes (which spiked during the pandemic).
