I can not figure this out.
Unless he's the Alex Tanney of RBs - I hate everything about this move.
It's training camp..need guys to get reps. There is literally no risk to bringing him in.
Also, don't forget you can have vets on the practice squad again this year...that's where he was when they called him up after the Barkley/freeman injuries.
Good contingency plan, knows the offense and played pretty well.
Gallman wont make the SF roster. Thought it was a strange signing given Shanny’s outside zone. The Giants had to switch from zone to gap scheme when Gallman played because he couldnt zone.

Im the complete opposite. I actually thought he did pretty well with the opportunities he had for us last year. Not a starting RB at this point in his career, of course, but for depth, not bad. Staff must like what he brought to the table last year, and could be he is a good locker room presence as well, and they know 100% more of whats going on behind closed doors than any of us do.
And lets face it, not like they gave him a 20M contract....if it doesnt work out, let him go, go back to the unsigned RB shelf and find another one.
vet depth that already knows the system. As others said, they need bodies to take reps and he makes the most sense and costs very little. Despite looking slow as hell, he also ran tough as hell last season.
Morris can still contribute something to this team. He's not an every down back any more, but does have some real situational value. Better him than some kid who can't block.
When I first saw his play at Florida Atlantic, my first thought was, "What's he doing here? He plays like a quality NFL RB?"
And he's naturally progressed a lot since then. But he was never quick and has taken a pounding over his NFL career, so unless he's discovered the fountain of youth, or is a security blanket for Garrett I don't see him on the 53. And if he is, it's somewhat damning of coaches' opinion of the RB corps.
Gallman signed with San Francisco I believe

Out of the RBs, Morris was the NY Giants second leading rusher in 2020.
Timeless asset...

Alfred Morris was once a top 10 NFL back. Tanney? Lucky to be a Top 10 QB on his own team:)
me too. he played well when given the chance.
I liked him more than Gallman.
