Sources: Third-round pick Aaron Robinson had core muscle surgery late in the spring. The young CB hasn’t been on the field practicing yet at training camp, but has been making progress. This kind of procedure usually involves a 6-week timetable. Robinson shouldn’t be far off.

The Giants had 18 players on the 91-man roster not participating in Saturday's walk-through. Interesting to see if more guys get back in the mix with the pads set to come on for the first time tomorrow. Bound to be some attrition when the full contact practices start.
I wonder if the Giants are setting Smith up for a year long PUP list type thing.
He hasn't played football in a year - he played at a small school - you gotta love the size and measurables but the Giants may view him as a project but couldn't risk moving him to the PS b/c someone would snatch him up.
The Giants don't have a great group of EDGE guys - but they do have a lot of bodies.
Signings around the league early in camp, remember during most of the off-season teams didn't have a clear picture of the practice squad rules for this season.
They recently announced that they are carrying over the expanded practice squad with vet exemptions from 2020.
Makes sense to see guys like Looney, Morris, etc. getting camp contracts. If they don't make the cut they can still carry them on the PS into the regular season. If they couldn't, they likely would have a few less vets in camp imo.
Dnew15, you could be right, but I'd hate to see that.

Just a hunch.
I highly doubt they would do this. The PUP list means he cant practice. You dont want a guy to miss 2 full seasons of football at an age. I think that would hinder his progress. Now if he does practice I can see them doing an IR but even that is unlikely.
and it's incredibly early, but can we just have a few practices where the offense shines? jesus christ.
Oh so you know its early? and You know the install is in progress and Defense always has the advantage. You know all this but still you screaming Jesus Christ? Then and oh boy then you will cry about CB1 and we have know Linebackers that can cover lol
absolutely not my point. Was just saying - it would be nice. This seems to happen EVERY year. and EVERY year we say 'well it's fine the offense will catch up'......and then they never do.
and it's incredibly early, but can we just have a few practices where the offense shines? jesus christ.

i am just speaking for myself and not others but i'm not in panic mode yet. but the beat writers are going out of their way to bash the offense. and i'm not talking about the pat leonard's. duggan who is very middle of the road and fair in his coverage was extremely critical today of the offense
i'm just saying it would be nice to read something good about the offense in training camp. for about the last 6 years, it hasn't happened
Mostly they're picking out random stuff and likely also have last year at the forefronts of their brains, so their attention is both focused and biased. But the salient point is that the calendar (i.e., how so very early they are in camp) suggests that these random motes have zero meaning about anything. What you're seeing is noise and filler which should bring about zero emotional expenditure form you.

"That could be huge as running back Saquon Barkley continues to make his way back from a torn ACL; he could miss two to six weeks of the regular season, according to The Athletic's Virginia Zakas."
RE: the beat writers seem to be really making a point
Oh good, i'm sick and tired of hearing how great everyone is on week one of camp only to suck on week one of the season. Hopefully this is the reverse trend

She is just stating that if his progress is slower than it has been, it could be up to six weeks if he is placed on PUP. She has No information, but just doing her job to make it seem like she does have information lol!

It's also possible that Jason Garrett's offense sucks.

Today's #Giants notes - Nice catches by Sills, Engram, Golladay; Jax a diving PD, Garrett and Crowder PDs; Lawrence looks quick off the line; Fulton increased reps. Also, Jones was inconsistent.
said that the offense has been playing all red zone which means there are no long pass plays and a compact defensive scheme. They do that because players tend to get soft tissue issues early in camp stretching out for long passes - which I found pretty interesting, that Judge starts with red zone to avoid injuries. In any case, offense always looks off in the beginning because the field is really compressed and their timing is still rounding out.
Need time for new guys to get acclimated and get the offense into some rhythm. Also if Barkley and Rudolph were playing, you also might see a different offense. I think they’re working on passing routes and more deep shots, which have lower chance for success also. Only second week of camp, let’s wait till after the 3rd Pre-season game to start worrying.
the defense generally has the upper hand early in camp and even more so this year:
Lots of new faces (until Morris signed- not one back of significance from last season getting reps), 3 new WR's, revamped line with guys missing (Peart and then Lemieux) and don't forget new Ol coaches... I am not worried at all and the deep ball over throws do not bother me. The deep balls that look like punts with even less distance that would bother me. No way they have their timing down yet.
Now, if this is an issue week 2 of Pre-season games then yeah, time to start getting the concern up.

I heard that as well. It makes sense. Way to early to worry. Lets see how they do in the scrimmages with the Browns and Patriots. Nice to get the info, I don't know what would make people the happiest. Offense scoring at will - defense sucks. Offense can't score - offense sucks. Its 50-50 - they both suck. lol

There has literally been zero information on a timetable for Barkley from any credible source. Anything like that is either opinion or clickbait.
