Was just reading a camp report that essentially said Burrow looks shaky at best and that his best throws are only occurring because the defensive players are pulling up in cases where he would be sacked in real games.
Makes you wonder why they chose Chase when they had their choice of several nice offensive tackle prospects in round 1. Even if they had traded down a bit.
Their dumb move to draft a WR was ultimately the reason we didn’t get any of the top 3 WR’s this year in my opinion which is why I find this development in camp to be particularly annoying as it was obvious the line would continue to be a huge issue for them. Especially with a QB coming back from an ACL.
- the Bengal OL won't be any good
- it was dumb to take one of the best WR prospects in the game in Chase
- all of the OL prospects they passed on will be better
- they single-handedly screwed the NYG out of a better WR
- and Jerry Reese is a good comparison to these issues in Cincy
Really good OP...
Everybody yells to draft BPA then calls the GM stupid for not drafting at a certain position.

Nothing is definite at this point obviously. But we’ve seen this happen before with young QB’s. The team ignores the line and they get the hell beat out of them. David Carr is a name that comes to mind immediately. Dude got hit so many times he was practically shell shocked. Their line was awful last year and they didn’t do anything major to address it so I don’t see that situation changing much. I think Burrow will be a good one, but he needs to be protected like any QB.
CINCINNATI — The Bengals desperately needed to upgrade their offensive line this offseason. The process began in January when they parted ways with former offensive line coach Jim Turner and signed Frank Pollack to a multi-year deal.
The process continued in free agency when they cut veteran Bobby Hart and signed former Pro Bowler Riley Reiff to play right tackle. They also re-signed guard Quinton Spain.
Cincinnati added three offensive linemen in the 2021 NFL Draft, starting with second rounder Jackson Carman. They followed that up by using their fourth round pick on D'Ante Smith and their sixth rounder on Trey Hill.
“ Tyler Boyd today on Joe Burrow's progress:
"I think he's a little iffy on his knee, but it's hard to tell. I think he's ready to go, but he doesn't want to do too much."
Just one quote, but TB perfectly described what JB looks like right now.”
