no more WRs until we fix the oline. If we are picking 7th then you can bet the oline sucked this year and DJ is on his way out. blue chip OL or QB, that's it.
But if it’s not a QB I’d love to get OL, DL and maybe TE or another OL with our top 3 picks wherever they are. Continue to build the lines.
Been looking at those myself. There's a mock draft by DraftWire that has us picking Drake Jackson; the USA Today for the Giants doesn't think highly of this one.
Lamattina: Leal was moved all over the defensive line in 2020 for the Aggies defense, which hints at one of his biggest strengths, versatility. His size suggests he will move to an interior role on the defensive line, but he has shown to be proficient in every technique. Extremely strong at the point of attack, demonstrates a lot of power in his punch into the chest of the offensive lineman. Explosive get-off out of his stance to drive as much as possible as he makes contact. Hands stay active to attempt to bat passes down when he can’t get to the quarterback. Releases a spin move to the inside that proved to be quite effective to get pressure. Wasn’t tested much as a run defender, but his strength and leverage control at the line of scrimmage suggests he would not be a liability in that area. Flashed ability to catch lineman off guard as a speed rusher off the edge rather than going to the inside. Link - ( New Window )
If the OL does not give Jones enough time to throw the ball downfield, and or Garrett's playcalling does not adjust enough to do the quick throws, then how do they make a decision on Jones going forward? I'm guessing that they will draft Jones's replacement and also try to fix the OL which presents a different problem because they'll have to decide if Thomas and Peart are part of the solution or part of the problem. Until the OL is at least adequate, the offense will struggle. The other question would involve what they do with Barkley. They can afford to pay him more if they have a rookie QB contract but is it worth it? Then again, how would it look to let him walk? Not to early to think about it.

fix the o line with both picks unless they are in a position to get a better qb than jones. Has become that dire. unfortunate it’s not bpa that’s where Giants are at.
the feeling about Gettleman. But if you're willing to believe that the Giants say, that the whole organization, including Judge, have a big say in the draft, then the problem goes way beyond Getty and won't be totally fixed with his departure. Maybe the biggest problem lies within scouting/personnel. Those are the guys who watch and advise on all the players available.

Problem with that is that DG admitted that he tried to both win and rebuild. That's not the scouts fault. It was just plain dumb to hold that philosophy - which is why he admitted it - that he erred.
And it won’t be Gettleman making the pick.

More than likely unless somehow Jones plays great the first 6-7 games but then goes on IR and Glennon struggles mightily replacing him.

Correct on both points.

2022 NFL mock draft: Kicking off the 2021 college football season - ( New Window )
Kenyon Green and Demarvin Leal. Both Aggies. Take them both
If it goes well enough, I'd put my money down on a cornerstone OL and impact defender.

Gets real messy fast huh?...oof!
Not if their OL sucks being around 31st rated again.
Think of how many posters on here practically penciled in Peart.
OFC Peart can still turn it around but the point is he could suck too. - Along with other OL questions.
If the OL is in the high 20's / low 30's - that's Jones's fault?
