Also hearing the corresponding #Giants roster move is WR C.J. Board will be cut and re-signed to the practice squad, taking someone else's spot there. As we saw last week, Board doesn't have to clear waivers.
but signing him in place of Board should make our specials better.
I've said this before... just because Board plays specials doesn't make him good at specials. He is not the best punt returner, kick returner or in the top 2 for gunners.
Normally when a team 'addresses' specials in the offseason, they are talking about returners, gunners, kickers, long snappers. Guys like Ebner, Brightwell, Gilespia, Penny should put the Giants at a huge advantage over other teams. We need them to be top 5.
Of course your not. Because you, like the majority of other casual fans, dont give a rats ass about special teams. Just figure you put somebody out there,....anybody....and tell them to go hit somebody. ST's are units that are only loved by the coaches. And believe it or not...the majority of the decisions on the bottom 5-10 players on the roster are decided by ST's...like this one. He obviously fills a role there that the coaches believe needs to be filled.

You are wrong. The majority absolutely understand and do give several rats' asses about Specials. We just think there are better players on the roster, plus players that can do not only Specials but can function semi-proficiently on either offense or defense. Ebner can really only play Specials - he is lost on defense.
Giants may be overloading roster with ST players, guys who can play ‘
‘team’ but have no position. If that is so they may fall into a pattern as others have done with good ST but lacking in D or O plates or backups. These teams end up with good st stats, but losing records. Hopefully this will not be the Giants but as this roster is being built and churned it is worrisome.
Would love to see some data analysis examining whether STs really contribute a 1/3 of a teams winning record. I doubt it.

There have been a number of Eagles teams in recent years that have had 3-4 of their wins come down to ST play.

I know a lot of fans attribute the loss to the Eagles on EE's drop in the 4th Quarter, but i maintain the loss can be attributed to the bungled Special Teams play where we had the wide open gunner.
Should have, could have, would have scored a TD there and changed the momentum of the game. It's a team game, and the Giants were clueless in that situation.
On the other hand, every dime they gave him above the veteran minimum, with full cap relief, is a dime they probably didn't need to spend.
Tend to agree on dollars, but if Judge thinks he needs more on special teams then that is one area that he absolutely deserves the benefit of the doubt. Correct?

Ok...soooo you are basically saying that we fans know more about what the players on the roster can and cant do with regard to their talents and whether they can fill specific roles on Defense and/or Special Teams. Thats friggin encouraging as all hell...thanks:).
but...
eh
Hope Judge doesn't cut the "12th Man" for Ebner
Gallaspia: 12th Man at A&M - ( New Window )
I agree. He was near toast last year.
Paying for his experience.
That said, I don’t think he makes it.
Wonder if toney is ready to go there?
Doesn't he have to clear waivers? That goes 24 hours? Or did they do that already?

And you know more than Judge and the ST coach…..
So, what do you do for a living?
"personal punt protector" makes no sense to me.
Put it this way: we knew that Judge was going to bring him back, but is he good enough when playing to bring back?
Kid is going to get chances to make plays.
Ebner was great last year.
