He was playing well, better than we expected, until an injury somewhat derailed him. So yeah, I’m looking forward to his progress, but also excited with the LB depth we now have on our team. An injury to anyone not named Martinez shouldn’t derail us this year.
Crowder does some things and clearly exceeded expectations
from such a late draft pick. Decent in pass coverage, but he needs to learn in the NFL that "covering a guy" means you can actually stop the reception, not just quickly make the tackle after a gain.
Blake Martinez seems to give him plenty of props so that is favorable.
He's not a world beater but he seems heady in coverage and against the run, just as mentioned, not very physical against the run. I do however hate his #, 48 looks weird.
I think the LB in general are better than projected
Crowder certainly flashed last year and had good notices in camp. Coughlin has very good reviews. I think he will fill a variety of roles. However, it’s Carter that I think will emerge as a real force at SLB. His ability to set the edge will add a much needed strength to the run defense. He may not be a double digit sack guy but that’s not his primary role. He’ll be effective in adding pressure though. At OLB ,of course Ojulari hold a lot of promise and though he get a ton of crap here Ximines will be effective as well. It a better group than it’s given credit for.
will deploy him effectively. But I'm pretty sure opposing OC's aren't exactly worried about how he can wreck an offense
Good point. His use in situations that exploit his strengths is key for him and most of the LBs. Few teams have multiple guys like Martinez. If they can play their roles well they can be effective.
I'm optimistic with his mobility, and versatility. I believe our defense was noticeably better with him in it last year as he brings a run and hit element we don't currently have.
I expect big things from him if he can stay on the field.
He has speed that’s elite. He fills gaps very well and he’s a solid blitzer. Some people love to just complain. Your always trying to better the roster but he isn’t just a serviceable type player. He’s above that.
