What player are you most excited to watch?

armstead98 : 9/8/2021 11:52 am
Less than a week away and I'm sure I'm not the only one thinking about watching the games.

It's been a while and there are some new faces. Who are you most excited to watch this week?

The return of Barkley?
Whether DJ makes a leap?
Dex or Williams wreaking havoc? Carter off the edge?

Maybe one of the new signings - AJax, Golladay or Rudolph?

What about a rookie? Azeez or Toney?

For me it's the Xman. I think he's going to be a star and I can't wait to see him in action.

Who you got?
Honestly...

Jones. I'm tired of hearing about him being the franchise QB. I want to see it. I want him to go out and have a great season and show great improvement.
It's the return of Saquon
allstarjim : 9/8/2021 11:56 am : link
I know he's going to be limited this week, but he's such a dynamic talent, even with 10-12 touches, he can really impact a game.

My interested is also piqued to see Toney get his first game action. I don't think he'll be a big part of the game plan, as he didn't get really any reps throughout preseason, but can't wait to see what he does with the ball in his hands.

I certainly expect the defense to be pretty good, so for me, my excitement is how this offense comes together, so I'd also like to see a nice game from DJ, and looking forward to seeing if he shows some improvement in Game 1.
i need to see this DJ leap

i feel like it wont come because i'm a pessimist in ways. i just hope we have the QB that allows us to dominate with this strong defense or else this window is going to waste.

Eyes on your own paper.
Jones

It is now or never.
I’m split b/w
beatrixkiddo : 9/8/2021 12:10 pm : link
1A: Jones. Is he the franchise QB of this team, or are we going to have to use all that draft capital to acquire our guy next year and hit the restart button over again at the position?

1B: Barkley. Can he return to form and recapture what he showed his rookie season? Can he stay healthy through a full season? Is he worth paying and locking up on this team or is he going to bust?

I am hoping both guys answer those questions and help take this team in the right direction. Both are key to this whole offense and team being successful.
Saquon
Vinny from Danbury : 9/8/2021 12:17 pm : link
Though I doubt he’s a full go until game 3. Still can’t wait to see him on the field again. After that it’d be Golladay and Toney. I personally have very few worries about DJ, or the defense.
Golladay
RCPhoenix : 9/8/2021 12:25 pm : link
The last time he played vs. the Giants this was his stat line:

6 catches, 123 yards, 2 TDs.

It's been a long time since the Giants had a real #1 WR.
Jones

Be good or be gone.
It's hard to pick one player
Dr. D : 9/8/2021 12:31 pm : link
that I'm most excited to watch, but the one I'm most hopeful of having a good season is DJ, by far. I've spent (some might say wasted) a shitload of time defending him, basically trying to convince critics that, based on his flashes, they should be a little more patient. But he's got to show he's the guy this year and preferably starting week 1 against a pretty good D.

If he has a poor season, I'm not wasting any time defending him next offseason and will fully support drafting a QB in '22 (but I don't think that's going to happen).
Toney

i'm really excited to see Toney with the ball in his hands.

Saquon: There were times last year where you watch Gallman or Morris run and youbjust say to yourself Barkley would of taken that to the house...

Golladay: I want to see how he meshes with Jones, they can be a dynamic duo..

Toney: He brings an element giants havnt had in a long time, if ever

My top 3 as well. If I was picking a defensive player, probably McKinney.

Toney reminds me a little of Ahmed Bradshaw.
Yeah, Saquon for me too
PatersonPlank : 9/8/2021 1:31 pm : link
Jones second, and yes he needs to show it this season, Its make it or break it time.
Toney

only because we never even seen him uniform....maybe once in a picture on BBI.
There are several good options
Jay on the Island : 9/8/2021 1:56 pm : link
But I'll go with Golladay. He's the #1 WR this offense has been missing since Beckham left.

Kyle Rudolph is another because I am curious to see how much he has left in the tank. I am confident that he will be a good player for Jones this season which will be a big boost in the red zone. Now that Engram is more than likely out week one Rudolph will be the #1 TE.
Toney
Trainmaster : 9/8/2021 2:46 pm : link
But seeing Barkley return to 2018 form or Jones take the next step would be fine too.

Not any one player, but collectively, the defense has the potential to be “scary good”.

We’ll see.

I'm hoping he becomes the ace pass-rusher we've been missing for a long time.

Not really true. It's time to show he's a PRO starting QB that can be depended on.

I know it's impossible for some to process but there's a good chance Jones is OK this year, maybe even nicely productive and the QB who helps win 10 games or so, yet we still might be asking if he's super bowl worthy. And that's ok.

It aint now or never in terms of championships. It's now or never in terms of being a viable starter, which isn't asking that much if the team is stable enough around Jones.

i'll go with Dexter Lawrence.

OntheRoad : 9/8/2021 3:46 pm : link

and seeing whether Carter has become the player Patrick Graham is raving about.
Barkley.
section125 : 9/8/2021 3:56 pm : link
The guy probably scares the living shit out of defenses.

And...don't sleep on Rudolph. It will be nice to have a TE that can get open and catch the football when needed.
Tie between Barkley & Jones.
mittenedman : 9/8/2021 3:59 pm : link
The run blocking has been nothing short of pathetic since Barkley got here. For the first time since he's been in the NFL, he's going to have at least reasonable run blocking.

Especially against the Cowboys, think he sets the franchise rushing record this year.
"Most" excited has to be Jones.
j_rud : 9/9/2021 12:23 am : link
I know it's an opinion question but I don't understand any other answer. I'm "very" excited to see a bunch of guys. Barkley obviously. Golladay, Ojulari, Carter, Peppers, Toney, etc. But most has to be Jones. The entire state of the franchise rests on him more than anyone else, and it doesn't even come close.

And I'll take it a step further: we're probably gonna know pretty quickly. If he's making the same mistakes that he did the past 2 seasons it's not rushing to judgment to be concerned. I'm not even saying he has to light it up. Just don't make the same mistakes. If he does it's going to be hard to not feel like they're cooked right out of the gate.

For me there's too much riding on Jones for me to call it "excited." I'd say I'm most anxious to watch him.

Should clarify single game rushing record. Next year is when he breaks the all purpose yards record.

Anxious is closer to the right answer for me on Jones.

The honeymoon/excitement wore off after his first year. He needs to deliver in a big way. A way commensurate with a real franchise QB.
