Wide Receiver Kadarius Toney
September 8, 2021
Q: How does it feel to be back out there and practicing? I know it’s been a tough training camp for you, but how do you feel being back out there now?
A: I wouldn’t really say tough, but it’s been good so far.
Q: Do you feel physically fully recovered?
A: Yeah, I’m good. Just working every day to get better right now.
Q: From COVID-19 and everything, are those symptoms completely subsided?
A: Yeah, I’m good.
Q: Do you expect to play Sunday?
A: Really that’s on the coaches. I’m here to play, I’m here to do my job, so it’s whatever they say.
Q: Is there any reason you wouldn’t?
A: No, unless you want to go make one up (smiling). I don’t know.
Q: So, you’re healthy enough to go and play Sunday?
A: Yeah, I’m good.
Q: A lot of fans are wondering, what are we going to get from Kadarius Toney this year? What would your message be with that? What do you expect to be able to give early on?
A: Early on, I really just expect to really contribute as much as I can to the team. There is not a really definite answer to that, I guess you could say. You’ve just got to go with the flow I guess, how everything goes so far.
Q: What does it take to make a big play? You’ve done that a lot in your career. What does it take as a playmaker to turn a five-yard gain into a 60-yard gain?
A: It really takes buying into what you’re doing really, because any play could be a big play – not only by me, but by anybody. As far as just buying into what you’ve got to do, believing in the play call, that’s really what it starts with.
Q: How do you feel about going into your first NFL game? You didn’t get to play in the preseason and you’re just kind getting thrown in there for the real deal now.
A: You said thrown in. It’s not being thrown in, it’s more smarter decisions.
Q: What are your feelings? Are you excited?
A: I’m excited. I’m ready to play really.
Q: Are you itching to get out there and just play, because football is what you do and you haven’t really been able to actually do football, you know what I mean? Are you itching all the more because of that?
A: I wake up with that itch every day – it’s not more of what I’m doing or what I’m not doing. I wake up itching every day just because I love to play the game. That’s kind of the approach.
Q: Now that you’ve been a part of practices and the installs and all that, how would you describe what your role will be and how you feel you can impact this offense?
A: Really, I can impact it in a lot of ways depending on what they exactly scheme up and do, but really just looking forward to going out there and just impacting as much as I can as soon as I can. I just want to win right now.
Q: You’ve had a couple opportunities at games where you’ve been on the side and you’ve engaged with fans that we’ve seen videos of. What’s that been like for you knowing that they haven’t seen you on the field, but it seems like they’ve taken to you a little bit when you’ve been on the sideline?
A: It’s really been cool. I kind of really enjoy the fans. As far as mentally, (it’s) just kind of frustrating because I want to be out there producing on the field, not being on the sideline with fans. Not that I don’t like them, but it’s more of like this is my job. I come here to play football at the end of the day, so if I’m not doing that, I’m not really myself I feel like. I really lean on them to really give me an, ‘It’s okay,’ feeling.
Q: Do you feel like the physical setbacks have set you back in terms of your first camp, your development and your being ready for Sunday, or do you feel totally up to speed?
A: Really, I feel pretty good as far as just depending on the coaches and what they have to offer and what they’ve got to critique for me every day, being out there on the field and stuff. Just trying to get better at what I’m doing so far.
Q: What (Head Coach) Joe (Judge) said about you early in the season is your production isn’t necessarily a matter of volume, how much you’re on the field and how much you get the ball – it’s more about what you do in that time. What do you think when you hear that? That seems to be where your role is headed.
A: I’m a full believer in whatever Coach Judge has got to say.
Q: How do you feel about being a returner?
A: It feels good. It’s my job, so it’s just what I do.

I'm 99% sure he's throwing a pass vs the Broncos.

He doesn't fall into reporter's traps. I am looking forward to seeing him play.

The media is going to hate him
These were my two first thoughts as well.
And I'm getting excited to see him play.
So are a bunch of uptight, pretentious, holier than thou Giants fans that wish players all had the same dry,, boring personalities as they do.
KT - off to the side, working with trainers every day
Q: I know it’s been a tough training camp for you, but how do you feel being back out there now?
A: I wouldn’t really say 'tough'.
Let me guess, you're over 50 years old...
You'd trade Toney, Aaron Robinson, and the Bears #1 next year for Smith?
I really, really hope that will sound like it would be a silly trade by the end of the next couple of seasons.
It is amazing how different listening to a player vs reading a narrative.....he can't wait to play, but narrative almost seem like he didn't like football.
his upper body is a WR and ower body is a RB with QB arm....I sure hope Garrett will take advantage
I wish D.Smith all the best to the limit of any Eagle, but the Giants trade was nothing less than HR. The 2022 draft has nearly double the talent pool of normal drafts.

But please, get that thing out of your nose. It’s the one piercing trend that completely grosses me out. Lol.

George, Again I think you’re spot on ... I’ve said all along that friends who are life long Gator fans loved this kid and say he’s the real deal. My concern is his body holding up on the BS turf fields. He’s done most of his damage on the pristine grass fields in the SEC.

I kind of get a kick out of his interviews.

I wonder if the players laugh their ass off (when there are no press or fans around) about this game they play with reporters and fans.
He’s gonna be a fan and press favorite soon I think.
