Mets up early 1-0 off a wild pitch. deGrom apparently no longer talking to media. lol. LGM!
Ball don't lie....He's going to end the year hitting below .230 and with an OPS below .700.
Also looks like he barely cares.
At least Baez appears to have a heart beat.
It's painful watching him...would be against the rules for the genius manager to hit him lower in the lineup?
Sorry, rant over....

his numbers since may are right in line with his career numbers the last few years
I love Baez - I did not love him talking about booing the fans - but he has apologized for it.
El Mago is a pretty good moniker - the guy adds excitement on defense or the base paths and can hit for power. He may never hit 280-290 again but he'll hit 30 HRs for the rest of his career.
He's hitting .226 for the year...period.

Because a lot of players get off to slow starts with new teams, while changing leagues, or in NY. He did all of those. Overall, yes it is perfectly fair to say he’s had a disappointing season. He would tell you that. Reality is, he is a lot more the player he has been since the slow start. His career will tell you that.

It means he had a bad April and May and played to his averages since. That's how looking at stats works.
I think that trade has been a disappointment for both teams but as said above, he's gonna be in Queens a long time.

Why does critical thinking matter? I have an opinion and I want it to be correct
If he's got that short of a leash you don't have him bat for himself. He's not deGrom with the bat.
there was more going on behind the scenes than we know at this point. the biggest miscalculation the team made in July was this one from July 27th:
@NYPost_Mets
One thing that can't be overstated is how much the Mets believe they have a special clubhouse chemistry. Team brass has been very cognizant of that chemistry when considering trade proposals that involve players on their major league roster.
and if you read through all the quotes from Rojas and Scott in this article, it's almost laughable given what ended up happening. the entire vibe of the team changed. maybe they put too much stock into Lindor's judgement adding Baez without considering the rest of the team's? Or maybe the problem started with something completely unrelated (remember Zack Scott had to have his call out press conference because players weren't taking rehab seriously). None of it makes the FO look good obviously.
Luis Rojas, Mets players appreciate front office considering team chemistry at deadline - ( New Window )

Noah Syndergaard said he still expects to pitch in the majors this season, and that it would represent a reward for his extensive rehabilitation from Tommy John surgery. He recently threw a bullpen once out of quarantine; he'll throw another today.
