couple weeks, but man did this team hit the skids hard. Ugly
What an inning.
shockeyisthebest8056 : 9/9/2021 8:21 pm : link
Stanton thrown out by a mile trying to stretch a single into a double.

Torres and Gallo strike out on 7 pitches combined.

Torres

Why do we keep playing this kid. Send him over to Scranton and either fix him or ship him. No benefit for having him in this line up.
just a rough season
RasputinPrime : 9/9/2021 9:26 pm : link
and watching the Rays and Jays has made it even rougher because you get the feeling like the franchise isn't being run as well as it could.
the least confidence
RasputinPrime : 9/9/2021 9:51 pm : link
i've had in our BP in a decade.

4-2
and with that inning ending DP
RasputinPrime : 9/9/2021 10:08 pm : link
i'm fucking out on this team tonight.
Gallo
Professor Falken : 9/9/2021 10:47 pm : link
is hitting .136 with the Yankees.
Why would they ever pitch Heaney
Matt M. : 9/9/2021 10:49 pm : link
in any game with a 3 run or less differential?

As bad as Greene and Chapman have been, I'd still much rather have either over Heaney. That is saying something.
Embarrassing stat of the week/decade:
Dave in Hoboken : 9/9/2021 11:17 pm : link
The BlueJays are the first visiting team all-time to sweep a 4+ game series at Yankee Stadium (old or new) without ever trailing.
----------------------------------

Holy hell, that's humiliating.
Boone
NJLCO : 9/9/2021 11:38 pm : link
Post game on YES he seems to be lost. No answers for the lack of runs or poor play. Only answer was we got to turn it around quickly. Why play Torres or Gio at this point? Ugh

i think boone goes bye bye if yanks miss postseason.

My guess at this point is they do miss based on Tor being hot and us playing like shit
stick a fork in them
Victor in CT : 9/10/2021 7:22 am : link
they are done. disgraceful performance.
Maybe it's the recency effect...
ShockNRoll : 9/10/2021 8:52 am : link
but does anyone else think the Heaney trade is among the worst moves the Yankees have made in their memory? This guy was a disaster in LA prior to the trade, and he's been even worse here.
I'm not sure I've ever seen a Yankee team less watchable
arniefez : 9/10/2021 9:21 am : link
and likeable than this one.

I'll let the last month play out and then we can see if anything will change in the off season.

I'm not the least bit surprised that once the lineup went back what the front office wants it to be the team went to s**t again.

Quote:
“They have a good team, I‘ve been saying all along,” Cora said. “They did some good things throughout when they had trouble with COVID and all that. It started with the last homestand here, with all young kids coming up here…some of them were veteran in Triple-A, coming up and playing a different brand of baseball.”

“That’s a different team than earlier in the season,” Cora said. “They’re more agile, more versatile, more athletic.”

Not anymore. It's back to the same all all or nothing double digit strikeouts a night non contact offense, bad defense, station to station base running team it was to start the season and shockingly the results are the same.

Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results is a tough business model.

.

Boone doesn't play him for two days, then decides to bat him
fifth in the lineup. Boone is a schmuck, he is just clueless
sometimes, hope that guy is not back!
Keep in mind
Carson53 : 9/10/2021 9:44 am : link
that the following contracts are up after next season.
Green, Chapman and Britton (who most likely won't pitch).
I have already advocated for moving Chapman
(and a few others too). They might want to start re-vamping
this BP starting this offseason.
They messed with the winning formula
DC Gmen Fan : 9/10/2021 9:50 am : link
whether it was chemistry, coincidence, or whatever, the team was performing well with Wade and Velasquez making daily contributions. Their energy sparked the vets to up their game too.

As much as I love Gio, you ride out the formula until it is no longer hot then work the guys like Gio and Torres back in slowly.
This team needs the manager to be the leader, and Boone is but a
Jim in Hoboken : 9/10/2021 9:59 am : link
babysitter. Judge should be that guy, but he’s just too corporate, too even-keeled. I don’t know how he doesn’t pick up the umps and break their backs over his knee with some of these atrocious strike calls against him.

Still, the ultimate blame goes to Cashman who thinks anybody can run his “great” roster.

This. And the quote from Cora that Arniefez posted. The team that went 34-11 was a more diversified, more energetic team that could win multiple ways. Now that the "A-team" is back, it's back standing on the bases waiting for HRs while seeing a bunch of DPs and Ks. Zzzzzzz.
