No idea if it’s factual. It’s from a tweet I saw posted by a Bobby Belt, whoever he is:
Quote:
Buccaneers are the first team in NFL history to lose the turnover margin by at least 3, incur 100 penalty yards, allow 450 yards, and still win the game.
Agree completely. TB gave this away. 2 turnovers deep in their own territory, a fumble at the goal line, penalties all over the field, and I have no idea what the defensive backfield was doing. Still the Cowboys couldn't run at all, and really their defensive should have given up like 45 pts not 31
where is team was eliminated from the playoffs? If that's true, that is a more impressive stat. I guess the streak on that is his career starts...300. THREE HUNDRED GAMES AND NEVER OUT OF THE PLAYOFFS!
Dallas' defense is horrid - TB did everything they could not to hang 50 on them.
I wonder if their main strategy on D was to take Evans out of the game, based on how infrequently he was targeted by Brady. Of course, they didn't seem to game plan for covering the receivers not named Evans.

Hmmm... Who was the QB in 2002 when they didn't make it back to the playoffs after winning the Super Bowl?
Are going to try and feel good with how close they kept this game and maybe they can build off that game, maybe they can win 10-11 games, but that’s a game a bad team loses. That’s a game the 2018-2020 giants lose every time. A good team wins that game. Bad teams walk away saying they kept it close.
I never seem to do well when I bury Dallas or kick dirt on them so I’m reluctant to do so now, bu it sure looks like McCarthy is going to foster a weird and volatile environment in Dallas. It just looks that way to me but I may be just wishing it into existence.
I hate getting on playcalling and think the play design is fine in Dallas, but you have to get zeke more carries. That team wins on the backs of a good running game but they just love to throw the ball all over the field. I know they scored points last night but that would annoy me if I rooted for Dallas.

The more you run Zeke, the more effective Dak will be or has been, imv and the more thankful a problematic D will be.

They were still in contention the final week of the season and were eliminated after their final game.
“ In the final week of the season, the Patriots defeated the Miami Dolphins on an overtime Adam Vinatieri field goal to give both teams a 9–7 record. A few hours later, the Jets, who defeated the Patriots the week prior, also finished with a 9–7 record with a win over the Green Bay Packers. Due to their record against common opponents, after the Jets won the tiebreaker for the division title, both the Patriots and Dolphins were eliminated from the playoff contention.[2]”

Collinsworth clearly has some business dealings with Jerry Jones. I don't know how you watch that game and think they are on the same level as the Bucs. They got lucky they drew them week 1. It's always been my theory, if you are playing better teams, much better to get them week 1 or 2 because sloppiness is the great equalizer. That game was fun because it was close, but one of the sloppiest footbal games I think I've ever seen.

You realize they were missing Martin and who is on the other side of the ball? The Bucs secondary isn't good to begin with and then an injury happened. It was the right gameplan when you have such a talent differential on the outside, they just aren't that good because the defense is trash.
The thing is they don't really have any redzone passing threats and if they can't run the ball down there, they are going to struggle with their redzone percentage. Of course they don't have to play the Bucs front 7 everyweek so theres that.
It's pretty clear that the preseason predictions are correct, they are going to have to score 30 plus to win week in week out.
Demarcus Lawrence is also another countless example of how guys struggle to put up sacks on bad defenses and why we saw LW's sack count shoot up last year.
the game would not have been close. That was a Cowboys team playing about as well as they could against a Tampa team that has bugs to work out. The disparity in talent was why they still won.
and that is what Tampa did. The Cowboys are not a championship team, but they are very good, particularly on the offensive side of the ball. If I were a Dallas fan I would be disappointed in the loss, but feel good about the way they threw the ball all over the field with a pro-bowler missing on the Oline.
Tampa's defense is stout up front and so Dallas' plan was to throw the ball outside quickly to exploit those matchups in their favor. They rarely tried running, but I don't think that was an indication of being unable or unwilling to. It was a game plan decision, and one that worked.
Dallas' defense is nowhere near as good. Tampa stopped themselves almost as often as Dallas did, yet they still put up almost 30. But they were also playing one of the top offenses in the league, and Brady was Brady.
Dallas may not be one of the top teams in the league and I don't think they are Superbowl contenders because of that defense, but until proven otherwise I think they are the best team in the weak NFC East by a very wide margin.
It seems like both teams tried to give the game away

Amazingly that's a Tony Romo stat also.
He also never started a game where his team was eliminated from the playoffs.
I don't know if it's true, Al Michaels said it though, I assume he has a team of stat folks. It's not a TEAM stat, it's a BRADY stat. I know he hasn't started games due to injury, could be the pats were out of the playoffs in those circumstances.

Yeah, it's actually simple. The only season Tom played and didn't go to the playoffs was in 2002 when they were eliminated in a tied division at 9-7. In 2008 he only played the first game of the season. He made the playoffs in every single season other than those 2. So it's true.

I think regardless of the overall perception of the NFC East, all 4 teams are going to be a tough out for most of the NFL
That wasn’t counted. They lost the ball 4 times on TOs, compared to the Cowboys loss of 1 for a net of 3
Yeah and with the allowable practices, reduced agames and PT, we’re gonna see a log of that the first few weeks, imv.
+1

In the end it balances out. Dallas got beat by the better team. But not by much.
