One of the things besides the horrible officiating, Collinsworth giving Dak a 3.5 hour mouthie, and how oddly red Bruce Arians is, was the Cowboys' ability to disguise their intentions. Generally speaking a defense can have a solid idea of a run or pass based on the OL. Hand placement, horizontal and vertical spacing and body lean usually indicate what a play may be. It's something DL and LBs who study a ton of film (think Antonio Pierce) and make adjustments pre snap. If the guards and tackles are already staggered to form a pocket, it's a pretty good bet it's a pass. If they are at the same depth, in a forward leaning three point stance, usually a run.
I noticed several plays where the pocket was formed pre snap and the Cowboys ran, albeit poorly but the disguise worked. It didn't pan out because of the speed at LB and sheer mass of the DL the Bucs have, but it was noticeable. I also alignments where the RT and RG were in run stances and the left side was in two point passing stances. I saw it several times and the play was never the same, or to the same side. One of the traditional ways to slow the blitz is to make a defense think. Draws, screens delays are usually the standard trick, but we didn't see much of that. The OL games that Moore played did and outstanding job of slowing down a ferocious pass rush (the holding helped) and I don't know that I've ever seen such oddball fronts as I did last night. It was pretty impressive.
Why run the ball when the chance for success is low, that front 7 snuffs the run. Especially missing Martin, throwing the ball as much as they did was a no brainer with the mismatch they had on the outside.
Dak Prescott looked good but throwing motion was odd. Still must be dealing with shoulder injury.
