NFT: Need help shrinking a jersey

Weird request, I know. Bought a Saquon home jersey after the 2019 season and never wore it b/c I lost weight and it no longer fit. Still new in packaging. How can I shrink this thing from an XL to a L? I suppose these things are polyester, so I don’t know that they react to heat (shrinking) the way cotton does. Plus I don’t want to screw up the embroidered numbers and nameplate. Thanks for any tips.

Weather game jersey and wear a hoodie under it. That material really doesnt shrink.
